LOVE IT! – We bought this car seat when my daughter was 3 months old because I didn't feel that the capsule we had was safe enough. I went to baby bunting and I asked them about their seats and which one was the best on the market at that time of purchase. She told me this one was and went through all the details with me about it. It was $600.00 but I… Read more
instantly purchased it because I don't care about the price of things when It comes to my daughters safety. If you are not wanting to buy because of the price rememebr that $600.00 is nothing compared to your childs safety and their life.
Anyways, we love it! I wanted something that I could rear face for as long as possible. She is 8 months and still rear facing and we love the seat. Feels beautiful, beautiful quality, easy to install and the safety features i absolutely love!
I would reccomend this seat to anyone and everyone. i have no complaints. everything.
Good Quality – Have had this seat for about a year now and it has proven to be a good piece of equipment. It did require an extra length of belt and clips to fit to my vehicle which was an extra purchase. It is easy to adjust and the padding comes off easy enough for cleaning. Most importantly the occupant seems to find it comfortable. Easy to adjust. Quality built. easy to pull apart to clean. Expensive Show reply
Excellent Carseat!! – Our 4 month old has been in this Carseat since he left hospital. I cannot fault it in any way, shape or form. It has excellent head support, in particular when bub is a newborn, is comfortable, and the best part is the easy to adjust straps as baby grows. I have also used the infa-secure 0-8 CARSEAT, and while it lasts longer in age, I find I am… Read more
constantly having to fiddle to lengthen the straps as my baby gets longer.
I love the platinum AHR, and feel peace of mind when my son is in it.
the best – We wanted only the best for our child and after thorough research, we purchased the platinum in 2011. 2 years on and it is still great. My daughter appears very comfortable in it, it is very easy to use and clean. Adjusting is simple and fast. We love it so much we purchased a second for the grandparents car and will get the new Diamond model for number 2 who is on the way.
Average car seat, choose another model – This car seat is supposed to be the dux nuts. It is a very comfortable seat for baby but my wife and I continually struggled with the seat back pushing back down. If I rested my arm on the top of the seat it would cause the seat back to fall down and then when I tried to buckle my daughter in the straps were too tight, so I'd have to pull the… Read more
back up again. As my daughter grew up and climbed in and out of the seat herself, this problem would occur more and more. Very annoying after a while!!! This made me think about what would happen in an accident and if part of the car pushed on the top of her seat??? If I had my time again I'd go with one of the manual shoulder height adjust seats!
Seat back kept sliding down!
Semi happy – I bought not 1 but 2 of the platinum ahr car seats for my twins. Within the first 8 months my daughters seat belt middle stopped working. I contacted the manufacturer and was told to rinse out and see if it improved. Sometimes it would work sometimes not. About 5 months later it went really bad and while driving the belt came open and my… Read more
daughter fell out. I called the manufacturer and a replacement part was sent out and arrived the next day. About 6 months ago my sons car seat started doing the same thing so I washed it and contacted the manufacturer. This time I was told I needed to send back the entire car seat for testing and I should ring around and rent a spare seat till it was returned.(not good enough) so I have been struggling with it 12-15 times each time to get it locked. Last night I decided to remove the belt completely and soak it and also was the entire material of the car seats. When I removed my sons I found the foam area cracked right from top to bottom. I am very very upset as I spent so much money to protect my children the best and its not even safe. Someone needs to fix this problem ASAP. The fact it could be used up to a toddler. The extra safety from the air bags. Seat belts play up and foam head rest cracked.
Love it – Safe n Soud have been nothing but fantastic. Their quality is exceptional!! I wouldn't have my child in anything else but Safe n Sound platinum. It's rear facing markers have been tested with a 15kg dummy, & I'm estatic to be having my son extended rear facing still! I love brittax! Safety, Warranty, customer service, Quality, reliabilty, fabric used, washable, side air bags! Head phone jack, sun viser, messy mat
Comfortable & Safe – We used a capsule but when my son outgrew that he was still too small for a forward facing seat. We bought this seat as it had the highest CREP rating in both forward and rear facing. I also wanted to leave him rear facing as long as possible. He is right on average height & weight and I turned him at about 14 months. His seat is in the middle… Read more · 1
of the rear seat and this car seat puts him up quite high so he can see the action. When he sleeps his head does come forward sometimes but I am sure most forward facing seats this would happen. However, I just move it back and he can comfortably rest it against the side. We dont use the speakers, but maybe later on when he is older.
When he falls asleep I can easily push a button to lengthen the straps and get him out of the car without waking him. It also makes it easy to put him with loose straps and then just tighten them to suit the clothing he has on that day (eg bulky jacket compared to tshirt). It is also very easy to adjust the seatbelt height.
This was an expensive purchase but I am happy with the seat and I feel secure in knowing it has the best safety rating. Best CREP rating forward & rear facing, easily adjustable straps, looks comfortable expensive
Great car seat – We were going to buy the Meridian but ended up getting the Platinum on sale for the same price. I probably wouldn't have paid the extra money otherwise. But I'm glad we got it. It has a good safety rating, it's comfortable and you can remove the seat fabric to wash it which is handy. We have only used the in built speakers a few times and they… Read more
work well. The bonus is you can play wiggles to your baby while you listen to your own music. Safety features expensive
Great car seat – I really like this seat for ease of use. It is easy to adjust and to get my son in and out of. It has lovely fabrics and I feel better knowing it has extra head protection. The seat does fit into my i30 rear facing but it is bulky. Extra safety Big and expensive
What is all the hype about ? – We bought this car seat thinking it was the best on the market. Well so we were told at the time. Like most parents we werent prepared to compromise on safety or cost on this one very important item. Dont let the sales pitch of having 'inbuilt speakers' persuade you to buy this, its just a gimmick feature. I found the installation instructions… Read more
and pictures not very easy to understand and found myself 'guessing' that I was doing it right, but as I was going into hospital first thing in the morning I had no time to have it professionally installed (which would have cost me an extra $40 to have done) We initially had it fitted into our Odyssey in the middle row of seats and after securing it as tight as I could there was still a lot of wobble and play in the seat and on the leather seats it swayed from side to side. To stop this I had to put some of that anti slip rubber matter under the base of it, which only then did it stop swaying. Since moving it into a sedan this problem is far less but still need the rubber matting underneath. Im not sure if this is a problem with other brands or just this one. But I think having the underside of the base of this made of something other than slippery plastic would be better.
Also the 'airbags' are not air bags as such, rather that they are just squashy rubber air filled side pieces added on for a little extra side protection.
On the up side, I totally love the easy height adjusts of the straps when baby grows. You can do this with one hand, but Im often finding that when you rest your arm or hand on the top of it when putting baby in it pushes back down and you are constantly having to re lift the hight. If you ever wonder why the staps are tight to do up all of a sudden, try looking at the height of the shoulder straps as this might be the cause.
When we put this seat in a Nissen dual cab the car seat is soooo virtical that his head constantly falls forward every time he falls asleep, and thats with the seat in the tilting mode (which isnt a lot of tilt to begin with)
We are going on a long trip next week in this very car and Im dreading the long trip as his head will constantly fall forward giving him a sore neck and not a very restful one at that.
For the price, I think you can get better or similar for a lot less.
Disappointed in the price as I did expect a lot better for it. Easy hight adjust for shoulder straps. Easy to wash fabric Costly for what you get. Back tilt not really worth it. Slides very easily all over back seat even when belts are tight.

It is excellent – It is from birth to 4 years. it is convertible from rearward facing baby mode to forward facing toddler moder. WIth toddler mode, headrest can be extended, just simply one pull. I love the speakers. It is compatible with personal MP3 Players. The headrest and baby insert are great protection for small babies. baby insert can aslo be removed to give baby more room in the seat. reliable,
Safest car seat available from Safe n Sound – I recently purchased this seat for my 17month old daughter as I wanted her to be as safe as possible when traveling in a car. Shamefully deficient of components required to use as anything more than a paperweight in many cars! – After many online reviews and in-store demonstrations, we bought the Safe'n'Sound Platinum largely on the belief that safety was one thing we weren't prepared to compromise on for our newborn. A knowledgeable shop assistant recommended saving some money and getting the similar Meridian model instead, but some concerning reviews about harnesses… Read more
with insufficient support in the upright position led us to the Platinum Convertible Carseat instead. As a top-of-the-line product, we mistakenly believed that we'd made provision to ensure our baby was as safe as humanly possible.
My concerns started when I was belatedly told by the installer that I needed to supply a towel or material to level the unit or it would be potentially unsafe. Having arrived empty-handed direct from the hospital after the premature birth of our gorgeous daughter, I was shocked to learn that my $600 convertible child seat did not include anything to handle this seemingly mandatory requirement and so is now anchored by some folded cardboard retrieved from a nearby bin. Surely they could have attached some spongy fabric, included a towel or some more comprehensive levelling surface for safe mounting? After checking the mounting point in my wife's Getz and the three separate tether points in my Mazda6, it was confirmed that I'd need to spend a further $40 to buy an extended tether strap if I wanted to actually connect to any of the 4 tether points in 2 separate cars since the default straps did not have enough length to reach any of them. The final straw came when I was strongly encouraged to buy another $10 clip to ensure that the seatbelt straps holding the seat in place would not give way over time. Apparently the parts included with my purchase don't actually keep the seat secure over extended usage.
It's unfathomable to believe that a company priding itself on child safety would take such a disgraceful approach to compelling you to purchase further accessories in order to make your original purchase remotely usable. Without the additional items, my new child seat would have been at best compromized by stability issues, or at worst unusable because the included connections did not reach mounting points in two of the more popular cars on the market. I could almost understand it if we were talking about a cheap and nasty basic carseat, but when you pay a premium because you espouse safety, it is unthinkable that that very safety promise would be broken unless you were able to spend more time and money sourcing additional equipment to ensure that the unit functioned as promised. For anyone spending $600 on safety equipment, this is clearly not about the money or being tight. It is about the principle and an expectation that you are purchasing a safe, usable, premium product - and many people who do so with the Safe-n-Sound Platinum will not be getting any of those unless they are able to locate and purchase additional components.
Absolutely shameful. It has speakers and an MP3 player uplink - making it handy for use as a chair in your loungeroom Without many additional parts for most cars, you're buying an expensive doorstop. Shameful that safety could be compromised to compel shoppers to fork out for additional parts
I completely agree with your review. I loathe this seat and have tried to sell it or get my money… Read more (+2 replies)
Best safety rating, Good Features – I was going to buy the Meridian Tilt & Adjust, however the Platinum was on sale and in the colour we wanted. These two seats have the highest CREP rating and the features sounded good. I like the protection around the head and although the iPod intergration seemed a little excessive, it actually has become a great feature - our daughter (even from… Read more · 2
three months) liked music to go to sleep, so we would connect the iPod with some classical music for her and Dad could listen to the footy on the radio (yawn)
It is a real pain adjusting this seat if you have a baby that seems to grow every time you put them in it, and we have had to turn our daughter around at seven months because she was over the shoulder height limit (when we would prefer to have her rear facing for twelve months.) The fabric is also very warm in summer and our daughter would sweat unless we had the air-con on quite cold. We also had to put a towel (when rear-facing) under the seat as it does not sit well in our Ford as the seats are on an incline. I would recommend getting the seat professionally installed. Features, Safety rating, Suitable from birth Fabric is too warm, constant adjusting on seat height.
inpresive – This car seat Platinum AHR Air cushion, has been made putting into consideration the latest needs in car safety and conplying with Australian Standards, giving me a sense of security in my every days drivings and peace of mind for all members of my family, that is excellent for a single product and the benefits offered to the public. reliable, design, and final details
Fantastic Car Seat – You can stop looking for the best car seat because this is it. We are so impressed by this car seat that we are looking for another the same for our next baby. The shell is shaped so baby/child is relaxed and their head doesn't seem to wobble or shake. Our baby, now child was really comfortable in this seat and now our baby is enjoying it. Everything. Not everybody can afford it for their baby. It only goes up to 18kilos.
Nice idea but terrible execution, I would not buy this seat again – I will never buy this seat again and am trying to sell mine so we can get a better seat or I will buy a new one and leave this or give it away. Useless and annoying. I had a traditional style safe'n'sound royale baby seat which we loved and gave it to a less fortunate family in need while we were using our capsule. I decided to buy the newest and… Read more
safest seat out for our new baby for when she was ready to swap to car seat from capsule (still rear facing). I wish we kept our original one and just bought a new set of covers - and would definitely purchase the Royale again!
Since purchasing this very expensive seat I have encountered many problems.
As with the previous review, upon installation I was required to use 2 folded towels under the seat to try to level up the base - don't you think it should have a self leveling feature for such an expensive seat? How is folding towels under a seat safe?
The seat belt has to be re-tensioned nearly every time we use the seat as it just gets dangerously loose - the clips in the seat do not stop the seat belt. Useless.
Even with the base level, the seat still sits too far upright and my 6 month old daughters head flops down when she sleeps.
The head rest is silly. It's a nice idea but I would prefer to thread the seat belt through and have a comfortable safe seat. It's like there are 3 levels to the seat cushioning. My daughter is long, so has the shoulder straps higher than most 6 month olds so at the bottom of the back of the seat there is a gap of about an inch or 2 with only a few mm of cushioning where the padded back cushion does not reach, then there is the padded seat/back cushioning that is attached to the head rest and is quite thick, then the head rest is even higher off the back. So I have to fold a blanket to lay over the back cushion to be at the same level of the head rest then fold it more at the bottom so the back is all one level for my baby daughter. You would definitely not expect this from such an expensive seat.
The seat fabric loops that attach the fabric on our brand new seat were already broken when we took it out of the box.
Sometimes prices does not indicate quality.
Don't let silly options like speakers persuade you to purchase a car seat for your babies, I'd never buy this one again and wish more people had put up honest reviews that I could have read before purchasing. I liked the look and the supposed safety features before I bought it Expensive, need to use many many different 'extras' just to fit it in the car. The seat belt comes loose and it always needs re tensioning. The head rest sits out from the seat level so bubs head is bent forward. the back cushion leaves another gap at the bottom when the back cushion lifts with the head rest. The head rest moves about easily making it uncomfortable for baby.
Excellent - – This seat is not only stylish and comfortable for the baby, i truly believe it is one of the safest baby seats on the market today . at first i thought it was a bit expensive but when I wieghed up how long you can use it for and how safe it actualy is, i realised well worth the money and not that expensive in the long run. safe, longgevity and stylish
Love the car seat – Love the Platinum AHR car seat! We purchased it in Black in December 2011 from Baby Kingdom. Our bubs is about 7 months old now and we are ready to turn it around shortly so it is forward facing. The only issue we had is it is rather bulky and had to go in the middle of the back seat while rear facing due to its size and it can be awkward to… Read more

Best seat ever!! – I have 2 of the SnS Platinums for my sons.I honestly can say that I cannot find a better convertible seat! love is the Infant Safety Cushion as it gives you a little more reassurance that they will be safe when they are so tiny:) Definitely a great seat.People say its too much to pay for a seat, but I definitely disagree, you are paying for safety that other seats dont offer! Infant Safety Cushion,AHR Doesn't rear face over 12kg..but no Aussie seat does!
Best Seat Ever Made! – I was lucky enough to win this car seat on Facebook and I've never been happier. My daughter loves it - it's extremely comfortable for her and there's no pulling straps apart trying to get it the right height for her. Comfortable, easy to clean.

Quality product – Apparently this seat is made with the same foam that is used within motorbike helmets which helps reassure me that my child is protected. speakers so media players- ipads can be connected to. all cushioning is removable and washable should my child have a 'whoopsy' Expensive. my seat was installed at an RTA fitting station and the fitting specialist needed an extra buckle clip to install the seat in my car. There is a clip which is provided within the box however this clip was for older style vehicles where my car is a new car. I purchased the extra clip for $8 on top of the fitting charge.
Would recommend to anyone! – Easy to install, wash and adjust. My daughter is comfy in this great car seat. Worth the money and piece of mind. Easy to wash and safe Baby can get a little sweaty in summer
OK – Quite overpriced. All seats in Australia are put through the same strict safety testing to make sure they'll keep littlies safe if you're in an accident. prevent injury. I love how easy it is to adjust the headrest for your child's individual height therefore always providing that essential head protection. The adjustability of the straps is also fantastic, far better than my other carseat and than any other carseat I have ever used (a fair few as a professional nanny). It is quick and simple to adjust and get it in just a few seconds which is important for mums who are short of time anyway! It's easy to put in and out, seems safe and secure and is easy to recline or sit up when in front facing position. Our son seems more comfortable in it than in the other carseat in dads car also. Comfortable, good headrest for sleeping and injury prevention, attractive

Good – A good seat for Safe-n-Sound, not as premium as overseas brands. Padding seems too much/too thick for older children. Crotch strap may rest too high for small children. I love my Safe n Sound Platinum AHR Air Cushion – I wouldn't put my 17 month old is anything else after using the Safe n Sound Platinum AHR Air Cushion. The safety and comfort is far more superior than any other car seat on the market. everything, the colours, comfort the list goes on. It is on the more expensive end but then is there really a price we can put on our children's safety
Great Seat – I love this seat! I feel good that my baby is very safe, I like that you can have it on a bit of a recline when its forward facing so if they like to sleep it is still quiet comfy. The only con is my son is a very warm person so he gets hot in it but other than that I love it. Very safe seat As it has so much padding the babies can get hot.
Fantastic, gorgeous and safe all in 1!!! – Great safety standards exactly what I was looking for and fits nicely in my car. My daughter looks very comfy when sleeping! Side impact protection, padding and design. Price.
Amazing seat! – couldnt reccomend anything else!! we have 4 of these and they are so snug and secure! nice and comfi and great colours..rear face to 12kg awesome! Expensive but worth it!!
Good – Would probably buy the platinum or meridian "retractor" and buy strap covers than buy the manual again. I love that the seat is so simple and easy to get bubby clicked in quickly and safely. seat. I love the way you can recline the seat if necessary. Big seat for our big baby. I like the dark colour. The retractor doesn't have strap covers, but this one does-good for throwing in the washing machine after a puke. I would have gotten the meridian retractor. The lady in the baby store said that some people didn't "trust" the retractor, but in retrospect I would have gone for that. We have found that pulling the straps at the back of the seat(when facing backwards) makes it easier to adjust and tighten baby into seat-otherwise I was putting my back out trying to tighten it.
