To my knowledge the tests taken are determined by the request prepared by your Doctor. Perhaps he requested it?

Oh it happens again?. I can't believe why 4Cype can't make a claim through medicare or private insurance, what's wrong with this company and why they leave the invoice for so long. In this case you need to contact your insurance company or medicare to make a claim for your invoice. Then they will pay directly to 4cite. You must do it asap or until the invoice reachs 2 year old then you can't make any claim. And rememeber if any doctor refer you to 4cite please refuse and request another bood test company. Good luck and hope you can get approved for the payment. Cheers

I have been receiving messages to pay an overdue bill for a Covid test I took long time ago for 120$ but everything looks so suspicious. Clearly looks like scam. I would like to know if these messages are authentic

They have passed the debt onto a real debt collection agency. The debt collection agency will have bought it for cents on the dollar without much expectation to collect. The whole thing is rubbish so better to report them to ACCC and not respond at all to the debt collectors.

I had a PCR test on Tuesday morning as I need the results back in a 72 hour time frame. Will the results be back for Friday morning as I am going on a cruise

When I had mine done, I received the results the next day.

Be aware the you are likely to receive a $120 charge from 4CYTE in a month's timeframe for the test.

I was sick along with all my family member my husband and 2 girls 4yo and 15 months. Me and My husband went for Drive thru PCR test. I tested positive My husband came negative even he was not feeling well . For safety got my girls being not well did PCR as too little to do RAT. Girls came negative . my husbands health got more worst went for Drive thru PCR again 3 days later was informed that will be charged only if positive and doing PCR within 30 days . which saw satisfied not to be charge . 3 weeks later got 2 bills of $120 one for 4 yo and 1 for my husband. and week more later got another bill for 2nd PCR for my husband another $120. 3 bills and no information . I work in Pathology all the bills or price are meant to informed before test is performed . and tried calling he no. on the bill page . waited for an hour and then hang up . If they need payment need to inform prior to testing. and as it was clearly mentioned that only a charge if positive in previous PCR test performed within 30 days .

NOT PAYING AT ALL and why to be paid ?

I received similar invoice. $120. After paying and per the small print on the invoice) I tried to lodge a claim with Medicare for rebate. The item number 69480 is not accepted because it is a bulk bill item number, meaning that a provider (4cyte I this case) would use that item number on claiming their approx $85 plus $5.95 collection fee from Medicare. So, what's happened here?. ..I chatted to Medicare and we verified 4cyte as govt approved, we confirmed that the MBS still covers Dr referred PCR test costs. So 4cyte should be claiming from Medicare. However, if at the testing location they did not register your Medicare number (their error) then they could not submit a claim and have billed you and me instead. What is suspect here is that they bill $120 where if they billed Medicare they would only get $91. If we assume error by the collectors at the site then 4cyte should be contacting us for our Medicare number. (http://www.mbsonline.gov.au/internet/mbsonline/publishing.nsf/Content/Factsheet-extension-Covid-19-pathology-1July) So, what can you do. 1) ignore invoice and ignore debt collector letters and see what happens ##If you have a referring Drs provider number on your invoice: (see MBS link above..you need to have been referred to claim) 2) just pay like I did and try to claim a rebate, but note that you will need to submit your claim to Medicare online using the item number for collection/admin (see your invoice) then call Medicare and ask them to view your claim, your invoice, your receipt and ask Medicare to please process this because it is not possible to get through to 4cyte (I tried and failed, others report the same trouble). It is possible that 4cyte have lost details, it is likely they have sent these invoices out in error due to administrative error.

I got 4 tests done at the airport , payed $120 each up front . Have proof of payments going through in bank statement. A week later receive 4 invoices in the mail. Now being contacted by debt collectors. They won’t get a cent from me , take me to court I don’t care I have the proof. 4cyte is a virus like corona.

Why have I been charged $120 for a PCR test. I was not advised there would be a charge

Miguel Andrade

All labs providing pre-departure PCR charge. 4Cyte is the cheapest. You would have known the cost when booking. The site clearly shows the cost on the online application.

It was a drive through test, I did not book and I was not travelling. I was feeling breathless and drove in and had a test in a driveway.

Thank you I did read that answer 3 days ago and then I asked another question - It was a drive through test, I did not book and I was not travelling. I was feeling breathless and drove in and had a test in a driveway. Why was I charged the $120.00 when it was a drivethrough?

Have been given a bill for $120 at a free testing site. We requested no specialist testing.

Does your invoice state item number 69480 or 69479? They are bulk bill item codes and should only be used by providers when they bulk bill Medicare for services they provided to folks like us. It may be an error by 4cyte. You could send them your Medicare number and ask them to bulk bill Medicare and cancel your invoice. (If debt collectors are already involved you won't get anywhere there). The other option is to pay then claim rebate from Medicare but you will have issues submitting a claim using a bulk bill item code and will have to call Medicare. Or perhaps you could ask that 4cyte reissue the invoice with item numbers that you can use for claiming rebate from Medicare. If you were Dr referred and symptomatic you should have no out of pocket expense. See medical benefits scheme website for the PCR funding extension (to Sept 2022)

Can I confirm why you advertised for a "free testing clinic" then issued bills?

Julia R.

4Cyte attempted to gather revenue from domestic travellers when they were not legally entitled to do so. Don't pay the bill.

I got the same bill too. I specifically stated when I got the tests way back last quarter of 2021 that those were for public health advice and per QLD health compulsory advice. I got few bills with me, and as far as I remember, it took me 4days to wait for the results each time. I am just an international student, and $120 / test just to comply the protocols will cost me a fortune.

I am a nurse/midwife and attended 4cyte for a Covid test after a positive rapid test at home. I was told <24hrs for a healthcare worker, which is standard- so that we can either get back to work, or make sure that colleagues that are close contacts isolate and stop attending work, to avoid putting vulnerable patients at risk. It has been days and I have not heard back from 4cyte about my result. They have no one attending to their phone lines and are not responding to any emails. Meanwhile my colleagues and potential close contacts are still at work with vulnerable mums and babies. Yet you keep your sites open- testing thousands of people a day- still stating a 24-48hr turn-around. I hope there is a public inquiry into this incompetence/negligence.

Everywhere is under pressure due demand which is not supported by logical science. With government finally not requiring 5th day testing for travellers those who really need a PCR can get one with quick results.

Chris again. No response to 20 january- five weeks. I noted from Medicare app that one Dr Harris claimed the $90-odd on 17 December. Looks like my record was just lost - I don't think I'll hear anything now.

Hi all, just wondering if it is normal that 4cyte charges you for the covid test? It was a general health testing and they auto lodge a claim for $107.95 from my private health insurance without any notice, no emails, no phone calls. I found that out when I check my claims last week. I tried to contact them and they never reply. Thanks for any help. I'm just so confused as the gov and their website said its free.

Why is it if I paid $120 for a travel covid test and then find out I no longer require test and have not completed the test am I not entitled to a refund money doesn't grow on trees and I think this is outrageous if I have not had the test done

My question is if I have paid for a travel pre depature test of $120 and then do not require to have the test done why am I not entitled to a refund if test was not done .

Andrew E.
Andrew E.

Helena - I am in the same boat except for five people so $600. They don't legally have the right to enforce a blanket no refunds policy, its against the law and they could well find themselves in some serious legal hot water for that - I have raised this as a point of concern with both the ACCC and NSW Department of Fair Trading. Could be good for you to do the same, it takes five minutes.

If you are still trying to squeeze a refund out of 4Chyte - go to Dept of Health… and the media …; Because they continue bad business practices until they are told to, stop, then they’ll push a bit more…. Before finally doing as directed, and then only for as long as “eyes” are on them - then it will be back to maximising profits over people ….. Unfortunately I am not exaggerating. Seen it first hand.over n over
