Rubbish – Induction is excellent but this cooktop is not. The glass top isn't robust enough: ours broke twice, once just from a drinking glass falling on it. The “turbo” button is too close to the "off" button, so it's easy to accidentally ramp up the heat and burn food and saucepans. Worst of all, after 7 years the entire thing stopped working and AEG want $1200 for repairs, or $1800 for a replacement cooktop. Buy something else. Show details

Poor design leading to dangerous outcomes – We purchased the complete suite of AEG appliances ( stove, cooktop, steamer and exhaust fan) at Harvey Norman in Chirnside Park several years ago. One complaint, believe it is a design fault with the 3 burner cooktop. Under the Control Panel Layout, the P which activates the Power function is too close to the heat settings from 0 to 14. Several… Read more

times I have finished cooking, depressed the 0 to turn the heat off, but when trying to press the 0, inadvertently I've pressed the P which is 2-3 millimetres from the 0 setting and it has activated the power function which then surges with power and burns the pot. See attached file from AEG user manual, page 8 below.

Disappointed – Purchased this from HN Maroochydore for my long awaited new kitchen. The sales rep raved about the product and even talked me into buying the demonstrator as it was the last one. Before I even got to use it the tiler noticed that the corner had cracked off top right hand side. Oh well, I thought, nothing major. Then there was trouble with it… Read more

the elements, only 1 of 3 worked. That was covered under warranty. I also find that it takes a long time to heat up liquid unless you have it on maximum setting and yes I am using the right cookware. Then over Xmas I knocked a glass container as I was reaching into a cupboard. It landed on the side of the cooktop and has broken off the edge on the bottom left hand corner leaving vey sharp exposed glass. AEG will not cover this under warranty so I am now up for another $500 for new glass. Seems like an inferior product to me if it breaks so easily. For this reason and the fact that it doesn't seem any faster/better than a normal cooktop I would not recommend.

Not fit for purpose. Inconsistent AEG customer service – I purchased the complete suite of AEG appliances on the recommendation of the salesperson (oven, dishwasher, induction cooktop, microwave combi oven) about 18 months ago from Domayne and had them installed a year ago. AEG were helpful with rectifying faults with the oven. I have just rung them again because when removing a pan I knocked the corner… Read more

of the cooktop and a large (3cm) piece cracked off. The phone person, although very polite, said this would cost over $500 to repair for call out and glass replacement and the cooktop should not be used in the meantime as it might shatter. I explained that it was not fit for purpose if it can't take a small knock when cooking. I would caution anyone considering buying this cooktop as I have been extremely careful when using and looking after this appliance. It is definitely not fit for purpose when it breaks so easily! It was also very disappointing to note the inconsistent customer service when I read Michele's review saying her glass was replaced at no charge when a bottle was dropped on it (lucky for her though!)

Happy with this cooktop – I purchased this AEG induction cook top about 18 months ago. I have been very happy with the performance of the cook top. The functions are easy to understand and it cooks well. I recently dropped a bottle on the glass which cracked it. I contacted AEG and they offered to replace the glass at no charge. I only had to pay the call out fee for… Read more

the technician to fit the replacement glass. It was done within 2 weeks. Good customer service from AEG.

Cooktop glass cracked under no pressure – Purchased AEG cooktop Early June 2017 . Received a cooktop that was smashed due to handling I was told. Cook top was replaced. Today 23/12/17 glass started to crack while I had a small pot of peas on. Contacted AEG to no avail. Contacted Harvey Norman Port Macquarie. Told will have to wait until 2018 after the holidays as AEG need to send an… Read more

Hate AEG induction cooktop – We purchased a number of AEG products in Australia. We have issue with the range hood canopy, oven and induction cook top. None of these products perform as expected. Though the cooktop heats up fast, it doesn't brown the food and it cooks unevenly. You get hot spot in the centre and temperature fall off toward the side, hence unable to brown the… Read more

food and cook unevenly. You end up moving the food around more and takes much longer to cook thoroughly. On the lower settings, it only heats one small spot when the rest isn't heated at all. It's useless.

Clean, Performs & Almost there – I got this cooktop not because I was sold towards it. I wanted to change all my appliances from Gas to Electric so my I can power them up with my solar & battery. I pay one less utility every month, so that is a bonus in long-term saving. The cooking is great but you must use proper induction pots and pans. If there are compatible then there… Read more

isnt any issue in cooking. You can even move it around as long as the base touches the + mark.

I wouldn't say it is better than gas but it can further be improved as gas cooking is still very very versatile. Therefore it is only 4 stars for me.

I cant fault it except the sound it makes every time I use 2 or more at Power 13. There is a high pitch sound that emits from the cooktop.

Lastly, I love the security features on it which is good around children, the risk of them getting burnt by themselves is none if the power source is off.

Inconsistent frying, fickle to use – The HN sales rep. Talked me into this cook top. Swapping from gas and wanting something more modern and easy to use/clean. Told that you can place the pan anywhere on the cross and it will heat evenly in that spot. Anodised scanpans take a long time to heat up on a gradual heat (7) top heat of 14) which you should heat up slow on these pans. And… Read more

the heat isn't distributed even you have to move the meat around the pan to get an even brown and cook. stainless steel scanpans seems to induct the heat slightly better.. I already have a Lot of anodised scanpans.

But you can boil water in 1 minute on the highest heat of 14! Also boiling foods (10-12 heat) can catch easy on the bottom of pots. This has happened boiling rice several times.

The high pitched noises are annoying but you get used to them I suppose. It beeps every time you touch the cooktop. Even when not on. But we have all new appliances and they all beep for some reason. Oh, modern technology.

My whole family use this cook top and complain about its terrible to cook on. Regretting giving up gas.

Not worth the price tag $1700 for a 3 pot cooker. I use a special cleaner and it is showing pot scratch circles on the glass. And I'm very careful while using not to drag pots and pans.

Noisy and inefficient – So disappointed with this cooktop and the customer care received. It takes up to 10 minutes to boil 750ml of water and then will only simmer on the highest heat settings. It also makes infuriating high pitched beeps when two or more pans are used. Technician blamed the cookware and denied there is any sound (claimed he couldn't hear anything).… Read more

AEG now claim "sounds are normal." Yes, I get that some sound is normal but this is completely unacceptable. I am seriously looking at having to fork out $$$ for a new cooktop as the noise is unbearable and makes cooking horrible. I bought this to replace an old cheap electric cooktop and now wish I'd kept the old one.
