Perfect! Couldn't live without it! – The Kindle Fire HD 7 is a tablet. (This review is about that - not the HDX. )It not only stores all your Kindle books (both on the device or in the cloud) it also gives you access to the internet and your email. The areas available are Shop, Games, Apps, Books, Music, Videos, Web, Photos & Docs. This means that you can load music & your… Read more

photos on here. You can also load some none Kindle book into Docs.

Unfortunately you can't load any iTunes music or iBooks onto it, to my knowledge, as they work on completely different operating systems.

Reading a book on this device is brilliant. Yes, it is backlit but you have the options of white, sepia or black backgrounds and the light can be turned up or down to your requirements.

You can get access to all your books easily and to the store where it is very easy to find new books (many of which are available Free or at a very low price. (Some books & anthologies are even available for +/- $1.)

The only possible drawback is that it is wi-fi only. I personally haven't found this to be a problem but if you do pocket wi-fis or dongles are available to carry with you. I have one but seldom need it.

There is much more that I could say but I just think you should get one for yourself and play with it.

By the way - did I mention the price? US$165.98! So much more affordable than iPad - & you have ALL your books to hand!

if you are interested in the Fire HDX that is US$258.97.

Personally I am more than happy with the HD 7!

Can't recommend it more highly!
