Best decision I ever made!!! – I researched like hell when it came to investing in a desktop computer and YES the design of the iMac I couldn't help but stare at. One day my refurbished HP laptop stopped working suddenly and that was it. In June 2009 I decided to go buy the Apple iMac!!! I walked into JB Hifi in Maribyrnong and purchased it and have never looked back. It… Read more
turned 11 years last month, as old as my son. It has never ever failed me, I will not replace it unless it's on its last leg other than that I don't mind that it doesn't update to the latest iOS anymore. It is compatible with everything and still looks like new from the first day that I bought it.
Switching from PC to Mac was the best decision. Apple computers are reliable and with all my additional Apple products I have bought throughout the years it still works like a charm.
Excellent – when my imac first arrived i was a bit clueless of what to do and how the mac works, but after a few weeks you realise it is super easy to use. i have no regrets on buying it, it looks great, works well and the whole time i have had it iv'e never had any problems with viruses! the screens have a lovely glossy look, its easy to set up and move… Read more
around and i haven't ever had any problems with it! one thing that was annoying was that i had to learn how to use it when i first bought it other than that it has been amazing.
Excellent – We just bought our iMac. We are already Mac converts with a MacBook pro and a MacBook in our house - but we just love the new iMac. It is so sleek and easy to use like all things Mac. The big screen is amazing and the flexible stand means you can set it up the way you want it - this is useful if you have limited space and you need to have the… Read more
screen on an angle.
The price tag is a bit higher than for a PC but the value for money, apart from the high quality of the machine, is in the fact that the software is all built in - so you don't need to purchase it as an extra. Love the mini wireless keyboard and the magic mouse - although the latter took me a few days to adjust to after using the trackpads on our laptopss
Should have made the switch years ago – I simply cannot believe how easy an iMac is to use. (or anything Apple for that matter). The quality of build, crispness of the screen, the sheer speed of it is really something else. So impressed, I even bought a MacBook Pro to compliment the iMac. Priced right, fast processing and crisp crisp graphics.
Excellent – I have a 24 inch iMac which is a couple of years old (pre-LED screen). Like most Apple products, it works well, looks great and is a pleasure to use. Forced to use a Dell PC at work, it is always a pleasure to come home and turn on the Mac - stuff gets done (sometimes several things at once) and it (virtually) never crashes. I love the screen,… Read more
processing speed, lack of viruses (touch-wood), new mouse, easy networking, great system updates and functionality and included software which never ceases to amaze me. If I had to criticise anything, it'd have to be the difficulty to pull the damn thing apart. The older white iMac's were so easy to tinker with (in comparison) but these new ones are very tricky to pull apart which locks you into Apple's warranty programme when/if something goes wrong (check out the replacement cost of a DVD burner - insane!). I suppose, it's tricky to make such a slick looking computer work unless you use magnets and glue to hold it together, but it's really a small con - otherwise, it's 10 out of 10 from me!!! Fast, easy to use, fun to use, good value, reliable. Difficult to self-upgrade.
Excellent – I love my iMac! It is a beautiful machine. I have the 20" and the graphics are beautiful, it functions really quickly. I use it a lot for photography and there are some great applications for this sort of work. The iMac comes with some very useful applications and it is a fairly secure machine, you don't really need antivirus for it. The white… Read more
keyboard really shows up the dirt and they keys are hard to clean. The mouse moves a little oddly but it isn't a big problem. Awesome screen and graphics, very sexy design, very compact and takes up very little room, fast, easy to use. Smudges on the screen are hard to get off and the keyboard gets dirty easily.
Excellent – Excellent, I was wary of going over to the Mac as I have been a PC user for years. However it is very easy to use and nearly all the PC stuff I use is Mac compatible and vice versa. Mac's do cost a little more but in my opinion they are worth every cent! Brilliant, fantastic looking computer that does everything we need in a home computer and… Read more
handles all my work from home stuff too. Wireless keyboard is fantastic Don't buy the wireless mouse, the batteries drop out if you catch the clip on the mouse pad and it chews through batteries.
Good – A good choice for certain aspects, video and photos. However windows Vista has certain good things as well. I think installing windows on an Imac is defeating the purpose of getting it in the first place. Software is expensive with relative less freeware available. Apple extended warranty is a must with the imac, saves headache later. Excellet… Read more
screen which maes editing photos and videos enjoyable. All in one design is also a plus. The operating system is quick to boot up and relatively easy to navigate, but it does take a bit to get the full potential. Quick warranty services. I had to get replacement mouse because the scroll ball stopped working for no apparent reason (It was cleaned thoroughly). I didn't like the that every software came with the machine had the trial version feel, because if I wanted to do any extra, then I had to go to apple website to pay for the additional services. Itune and photos duplicates everything which takes up space on the hard drive. Video cable was not compatible with the PC range.
Excellent – I am a Mac convert. This computer is FANTASTIC!!! Though I do recommend getting the Apple protection care, as I purchased the JB Hifi extended warranty and now that the computer needs to be repaired I have discovered that JB's closest repair shop is 3hrs away... I was not at all impressed with that. But that's my anger over JB, not the computer. I… Read more
would definitely recommend the Apple iMac's to anyone, even if your a PC user these are really easy to get the hang of and far out weigh the competition. Fabulous Graphics. Built in Webcam. All-in-one design. iLife suite. Great keyboard. Easy system set-up. Can have windows installed also. Price. Mouse buggered after 6 months. Dvd drive wont burn after 18 months.
Excellent – I actually only run windows on mine... go figure, yes its an expensive P.C but you cant beat the performance and reliability and styling, never crashed in windows, my normal p.cs did. would i recommend it? hell yes!!! go buy one now!! love everything about it. style space saving performance and im a p.c guy... a little pricey, I bought an apple… Read more
refurbished machine 35% cheaper and never had a problem... except it gets hot when playing c and c generals after 4 hours and will eventually lockup and shut down. (heat protection device)
Excellent – The best computer I have owned, would never go back to a pc.The imac starts and shuts down in about 10 seconds and is so easy to use.The graphics are great and it is so easy to edit video and photos. I tell everyone to buy one. excellant screen and very compact and easy to use. usb ports are at the back and on/off switch is hard to reach.
Excellent – Apple have always made great computers and operating systems, they're designed for people who don't want to "tinker under the bonnet". Like my 72 year old mum for instance. If you want an easy to use machine that just plugs in an goes, this is it. You can use an App called Parallels to run Windows on it if you're concerned about specific software.… Read more
Very bright display which is easily dimmable via keyboard shortcuts. Dashboard is brilliant for all the great little widgets that come out. Great piece of hardware running a very slick operating system. Nuff said. Stylish design, and it "just works". Frontrow is brilliant for watching DVDs, listening to music etc. with a beautiful interface and the built in webcam works brilliantly with Skype.
Excellent – I love this iMac. It is, simply, brilliant. The graphics are unbeatable, the screen size huge, and guests who come by and see it always ask about it. It's wireless keyboard and mouse completely declutter the work bench, leaving more space for stuff you need to be on there. It also comes with awesome, already downloaded apps that will keep you… Read more
entertained for ages. I highly recommend this iMac. Huge screen display, high definition, magic mouse(!!!), wireless everything, super fast processor. The keyboard that comes with it doesn't have a number pad, you have to learn how to go from a PC to a Mac (not too hard).
Good – This is overall a good computer that will be even better in a few years, even though games are really expensive. This is a great computer with loads of applications. The remote allows for great movie time. The garage band application is great while you're connecting the internet. There are loads of free board games where you can verse a computer… Read more
play or another on the same imac. The finder application makes it a lot easier to ind where everything is saved and move things about. The games on imac are much more expensive and fewer in number (although many gaming brands have begun to make games that work on both PC and imac).
Excellent – I used to think mac computers were for people who like to tell everyone they use mac because they think it makes them superior. But i got sick of the constant viruses, bugs and the software sludge that builds up in the windows operating system. I love my mac. Comparing a pc with a mac is like comparing a Daewoos with a BMWs. I stll have a… Read more
couple of pCs and i use a PC at work so i am not anti windows but the mac is much better for a main computer. Huge screen, nice simple wireless mouse and keyboard, no tower, no noise, no viruses, runs just as fast today as it did a year ago when it was new (which is very unlike windows). great phone support, i have loaded all the cds on to it and have my own radio station (yeah i know pc does that to - but not this easily) Takes a bit to get used to. the keyboard uses up the rechargeable batteries (very minor issue) Microsoft excel is wacky and slow on the mac but i haven't looked into that issue, not many games on mac still?? You have to learn the shortcuts - which is sort of a pro after you get the hang of it.
Excellent – I love my mac, so glad I made the switch. I switched because I had a bad experience with a tower (I had paid over $2000 for) that only lasted me a year before it broke down and also had ongoing problems with Windows updates that always seemed to make things go wrong on my computer when I was perfectly happy with how it WAS running. I do however… Read more
keep a pc laptop as my accountant likes me to run MYOB and the mac version, she says isn't very compatible with her stuff.
Once we all got used to using the mac, even my partner has trouble messing things up on it. It is very user friendly. I no longer have to leave post it notes to remind not to "fix" stuff when prompts pop up or not to download updates (which used to mess up my pc).
I will continue to keep a mac as my primary computer at home. beautiful screen colours, once you get used to icons etc very easy to navigate, plug and play, can still use some Windows software by splitting the harddrive to run windows as well, virtually virus proof, have the wireless keyboard that is fantastic, small and cool to type on. wireless mouse is a bit all over the place for my liking, unreliable link. Making the conversion to Mac is a big step and that includes getting all new software, which is not cheap. However I was running XP so upgrading all that software to 7 would've been just as annoying.
Excellent – I love my Mac!... For the first month I had it, I was cursing the thing as I had no idea how to use it. I was trying to find internet explorer and couldn't and then realized it was Safari on the Mac. I then realized I am dealing with a whole new kettle of fish. It was like learning computers again from the beginning, frustrating! I wondered what I… Read more
had done buying a Mac....But, I am soooo glad I stuck to it as after I learned how to use it, it is the best computer I have ever owned. I will never go back to windows again for my main computer. I do have a windows laptop for things for my daughter for schoolwork as sometimes she has difficulty swapping from the computers from school being windows and then coming home and putting her stuff on the Mac, it isnt compatible. So I have that laptop for Windows just for her, but I will never go back to windows now. It's like going from and Iphone to another mobile, once you had one you will never go back. So basically if you can stick out the frustration of learning a whole new system, which took me about a month to adapt properly, then it will be the best decision you ever made to change to Imac. It's stylish, easy to set up and move around with it's all in built in the screen. So easy to use once you get used to it. Haven't had a virus scanner on this since I had it and no viruses ever! Big screens. Sometimes can be annoying when sending emails and certain things won't open up as it is not compatible with windows stuff and reverse. Trying to download certain programs and trying to find a mac compatible although there has never been a problem finding one eventually.
Excellent – Got it for my birthday from my girlfriend (yeah I know, pretty damn good pressie) It's been a godsend! So good to say goodbye to Windows computers forever! It's fast, big screened, complete, great computer. best thing is when you have something like a new device or program, it's so fast, no need to install or download drivers, etc. It's all… Read more
ready to go straight out of the box. Absolutely awesome! Prizewise it's quite a bit more than a PC but it's money well spent, Apples have better resale value and will last forever! Also, don't forget there are no viruses for Apple computers, they only exist (in the thousands) for Pc's. Absolutely everything Nothing, absolutely nothing. very happy with it. Great for graphics and video editing.
Excellent – It is an ultimate all in one with faster graphic and advanced achitecture. However good product comes with a price tag and that is why iMac is dear then other similar items in different brand. Almost all of Apple's desktop went through a major revamp in 2009 for upgrade specifics and new features. It now comes with huge screen, LED-blacklid… Read more
displays and high resolution. It also has ports for everything you need like USB, FireWire. Its wireless keyboard and mouse design is very trendy and user friendly. Nontheless, the 'White' colour becomes a new trends as well. Probably nothing except if the price.
Excellent – I just wish that I had converted over to an Apple iMac so much earlier than I did. If you run other based Apple products (Time Capsule, AppleTV, iPhone) - they all work seamlessy with each other. Stylish, wireless, great graphics. Only one cable for power. Fast processing and much more efficient than Windows based PC's. None. Absolutely none.… Read more
People may complain that they are more expensive than Windows based PC's, but it is simply well worth the money.
Excellent – I own a 24 inch imac. This was the first mac machine that I had used and was hence a bit apprehensive when I moved from windows to mac. But it is the best thing that i have done in ages. From the time I took it out 2 years ago till date have had not problems with it. It is a well made piece of equipment. It is very user friendly and looks great on… Read more
the desk. It takes all the clutter off the table. I have had problems interfacting my canon multifunction printer. The printer works fine but I have not been able to get my scanner to work. Fantastic screen resolution, a very stylish machine, very easy to setup and use Canon Printer incompatability
Excellent – This is a great computer. Switching from Windows to Mac was the best thing I've ever done. Computers are supposed to be all about simplifying your life and making things easier - and the iMac delivers on that promise. Everything just works. My only regret is not getting an iMac long ago. Some people say they are a little pricey, but consider the… Read more
quality suite of iLife software included - for managing photos, music, etc.. in a truely integrated way that works so well with your other Apple produces. With the exception of the included mouse, this is my dream computer. Has to be the sexiest computer ever made. Has a great space saving design - rids all the clutter off my desk. Super performance, beautiful big clear screen. I have the 20" 2.66Ghz model and can't fault it. The mail, contacts, calender, photos and bookmarks also integrate seamlessly with my iPhone - unlike Windows PCs. The included mighty mouse lets this otherwise perfect computer down. After a couple of months the scroll wheel on the mouse became unusable. There are ways to clean it but I think the mouse wheel is a bad design overall and not pleasant to use. Having used Windows all my life it took a while to get used to the Mac keyboard shortcuts and some of the ways they do things.
Excellent – A very cool computer with a great set up. Lots of handy applications to help even in the weirdest of times. Also, great for lots of storage space, and iTunes is one of the best music players for computers ever. It has awesome graphics. Has some stuff that Microsoft does better.
Excellent – Had my iMac since January 2008, always have left it "ON". I have also loaded Windows XP using Bootcamp which comes with OS Leopard. With the new iMac you have the option of running Windows XP or Vista. Apple computers have always been known for their Multimedia & Graphics prowess compared to a PC. I have Windows running on mine, just for playing… Read more
games. I use the Apple OS for everything else. I would spend 5-6 hrs a day on my iMac, it's always busy. If you do end up buying a iMac make sure to take up the Apple Care Protection Warranty, it'll come in handy just in case. Always protect you investment. - Preloaded with new OS Leopard and iLife08
- Time Machine Backup program
- Nice aluminium chasis
- Screen has been upgraded from previous version
- Very User friendly, you don't have to be tech savy.
- Great for Photos, Movies, DVDs, anything multimedia & graphics - Screen freezing when playing games on Windows BoootCamp, does not happen on Apple OS.
New Graphics firmware upgrade for Bootcamp in the near future will fix this problem.
Excellent – Great system and performs really well. Recommend 24" and 4Gb memory if you are hard core developers/gamers. Once you go Mac, you can't go back! Perfect in every way. Used to be a hardcore windows users. I then converted a few months back and never look back! All applications to create interactive DVD photo album, touch up photos, play video, are… Read more
already included as part of the system! I also use it for development and it never disappoint me. It will take a while to get used to the keyboard shortcuts if you used to Windows/PC. Also the included mouse is hard to use. Recommend just getting the non-bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and then replace it with your favorite three buttons microsoft mouse!
Excellent – I changed from a Windows computer three years ago and went with a 24" iMac. It has delivered everything I had hoped and more. Running OS X operating system means little to concern about virus or spyware problems. The machine is stable and attractive. It makes computing fun again. If you really need to run a Windows program, you can in Boot… Read more
Camp or with virtualisation software. After three years, I find almost no reason whatsoever to run a Windows program. The iMac is superb. It just works. Brilliant screen, small footprint, quiet, outstanding performance. Part of the appeal is the OS, but the iMac itself is a great machine. When I ran Windows PC's, I built them myself. It is nearly impossible for the home computer user to do anything to upgrade beyond adding RAM to the iMac. Price is slightly high.
Excellent – I've got a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and upgraded the RAM to 4GB. It's a solid performer and doesn't come with any of the issues Windows is often plagued with. It's never crashed, low risk of viruses (beware of rising risk as Macs become more popular) although I will be investing in anti-virus software at some point. SOME software (e-tax, games,… Read more
business software, etc.) are not built for Macs and I had to do my tax online at an internet cafe which was less than ideal. It's getting better though as more and more Mac-equivalent software gets released and there are some great free open-source alternatives to Microsoft Office.
Once you go Mac, you never go back. Good looking machine, performs well, no viruses (so far), user-friendly design/interface, built-in webcam + mic. Some program incompatibility, included mouse is difficult to use.
Excellent – This is the most awesome piece of equipment you can imagine. Also, the 3.08GHz is pretty fast. The screen is beautiful. It is technology heaven. It is fast. It is beautiful. It is huge (I have the 24"). It is pure technology lust. That I don't have another one.
Excellent – I had three PC's before this baby and I am so glad the PC's are gone. They all crashed bad at some stage. I have the huge 24" also and its great. The mouse has multi settings for different shortcuts. There is also a remote that connects to you media functions. I have the itune playing through my computer all the time. figure out what little programs I needed to make it run streamline with similar function as a PC but this only took some google work.
I will never go back to a PC and will always recommend a MAC. Its not a PC That it doesn't make me a cup of tea
Excellent – Oh Yeh! Highly recommend this machine! It is easy to set-up and use. This is my first mac and I still have my PC machine connected next to it. The PC looks antiquated compared to this. It is super quick and easy to learn, if you can use widows you can use this. I do some desktop publishing and e only down fall is Micrsft publisher doesn't come… Read more
with Office. I am yet to find a replacement similar program for mac yet. Early days though as I have only had the mac for a week or so. Anyone purchasing a new computer should at least check these out. I have the current 3.06GHZ 24" model and it is the best computer going in my opinion. Compact, no lreads and connections everywhere. Beautiful display, easy to use and worth the extra cost. probably the cost of software.
Excellent – This is my second Mac (first was a MacBook Pro). I have the new iMac with the aluminum encasing. It is super thin, super fast, and super brilliant. I have the 24" monitor size - and unlike some reports - I am not getting any color discoloration from the magnets. I can't believe how much of a computer they can fit into one of these machines. are soooo thin! The iLife suite of Applications are brilliant - iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, iWeb - improve the functionality and workflow. It makes it a joy to import your photos (iPhoto 08) and make a movie quickly and easily using iMovie and iDVD - '08 versions.
Not to mention all the brilliant third party applications that are available for Macs! Totally brilliant. Huge screen - beautiful clarity, very bright, super fast! Great software package. Nothing. It is great.
Excellent – We have been Mac users for over 15 years so we know what reliability is and the MAc's continue to fit the bill. We have little down time and have no issues with our mac computers. This one seems to be going along the same road. We usually keep our computers for around 2-3 years I xpect this will fit within these paramters quite nicely. I did have… Read more
to buy a 7 x USB as I use a lot of peripherals and there was not enough USB sockets. Cheers It is very quick 2.4ghz model with 20" and 24" screen as we bought 2 of them at once. It does everything we want it to do. We bought them in Spetember 2007 and have no problems with them. I have seen no dead pixels on either screens but as a graphic designer and also my husband is a Sound engineer/recorder we have no problems with 1 or 2 dead pixels on a screen (it does not effect the working of the computer). It is much quiter than our last Mac. Applications run smoothly on them 10.4.10. I have had no freezing or not powering on issues. I dislike nothing about it. It seems to dissapate heat well. It does not get too hot on the back even in QLD weather conditions and the house is not air conditioned.
