Arnott's Teddy Bear

Bought two packets recently wish I hadn't. I'm in my late 60's and remember what they tasted like when I was a child. These don't taste anything like them and as for dunking them you can't. And as for the Arrott's scotch fingers don't get me started. Not going to waste my money on inferior product again. Shame on you Arnott's for changing your recipes and ripping your customers off.
Nothing like they used to be – They have totally changed the recipe.. Arnott’s you need to comment on this because we can all tell! Been having these since I was a kid and just bought a packet recently for the first time in years. They used to be so delicious with a cup of tea but now they taste like cardboard! Seriously, what is with these food companies not understanding, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! Show details
Terrible – The last packet I’ll be getting. Disgusting, tastes like they’re overcooked and burnt, left a bad taste in my mouth. Its a shame. Never buy again. Show details
HUGE DISSATISFACTION IN THE NEW STYLE – Just purchased a packet of Teddy Bear biscuits, opened to have with a cup of tea being my favorite and the biscuits were all a pale color with a chewy taste. Won’t be buying the new design of them if this is the new normal. Sorry Arnotts you just lost 6 customers, except for our dog Hugo who was happy to eat your biscuits. Show details
Bring back the old version the new recipe is poor – Too small Unpleasant after taste You had it perfect for the longest time go back to the original recipe . It was both delicious and nostalgic Show details

Missing our Teddies – Please bring back the double pack Teddy Bears please. They have been part of our daily routine for more than 50 yrs
Teddy bear biscuits yuk – I recently purchased a pack of my childhood favourite teddy bear biscuits to share with my kids. Dunking them in milk was the best as they'd soak up and become soft and delicious. To my surprise as I dunked 1 from the pack it felt so hard and thin. It wouldn't soften up or soak up the milk. It felt dry and I honestly was so so disappointed. My kids hated them. Show details
Horrible! Won't buy again – I hadn't bought Arnotts teddy bear biscuits for years & when I saw them on the shelf I thought to myself, why have I forgotten about these - I love them. I bought a 250g pack, was so looking forward to having some biscuits with a cup of tea. Well, I couldn't believe how horrible they were. I think they tasted the same, or maybe similar, but they… Read more
were thin and hard - not like the light thick biscuit that I loved. If the ingredients ARE the same, then the fact that they are squashed thin has made them come out of the oven VERY different ... inedible. Horrible! I will not be buying anymore unless they go back to how they used to be. (Threw them out).
Teddy Bear Solution – I have been eating, on average, more than six Teddy Bear biscuits per day for over 65 years, that’s around 150,000 bears in total. Originally these biscuits were produced by Guest Biscuits but that company merged with Arnott’s in 1964. Arnott’s was faithful to the original recipe but something ultimately went wrong. A few years ago I contacted… Read more
Arnott’s to ascertain the problem and eventually my worst suspicions were confirmed. Whilst Arnott’s supply Teddy Bears in both single and double packs, they are actually produced from separate manufacturing plants in NSW. Although the ingredients, mixture, recipe, moulds and baking process are claimed to be identical, it does not take any expertise to realise otherwise.
These are the differences:
250g Pack: The bears are pallid, thin, brittle, lacking definitive facial features, devoid of colour, the mixture is inadequately combined causing dried whitish dollops of powder within individual biscuits, leading to uneven absorption take-up when dunking in warm beverages, very much lacking in flavour and what flavour there is remains unpleasant and, as one reviewer noted, quite accurately, reminiscent of “cardboard”. These biscuits are not Teddy Bears but are rogue imposters posing as the real thing. They remain an abomination, an embarrassment and an insult to consumers and the company which produces them. It is a fiasco and a scandal, a living nightmare. I am surprised that questions have not been raised in Parliament over this issue.
500g Pack: These biscuits remain faithful to the original recipe. They are nicely tanned, familiar in countenance and expression, evenly mixed and baked, well bodied and the dunking process remains agreeable with a consistent take-up and absorption rate. The flavour is excellent and loyal to the originals from so long ago.
I shudder to think of the generation of children who have been denied the opportunity to enjoy Teddy Bears because their parents have not bought the double packed bears. Therein lies the shame for the manufacturer, Arnott’s. In spite of repeated calls to remedy this processing debacle, nothing has been done. To add insult to injury, some time ago, the 500g packs, were, for a time, unavailable except in Queensland. Even now many supermarkets still sell only the 250g packs, unaware of the fact that these biscuits are virtually inedible. On occasion, I have had to travel eighty kilometres to secure a stock of the 500g packed variety. Even my two greedy Labradors have been known to refuse the 250g pack biscuits.
The solution for Arnott’s is simple. The Company should produce all Teddy Bears, both single and double packs from its current double pack facility. In the meantime, if you want to enjoy a Teddy Bear only buy the 500g packs. They are completely different biscuits to the fraudsters in the 250g packs. I would give "no stars" for the 250g packets of Teddy Bears.
Go back to original teddy bear – They have changed the ingredients, I'm sure they are hard and when you dunk in coffee stay the same. Please go back to the original way, like for so many years!!! Please, please, please. Show details
Arnott’s Teddy Bear biscuits ruined, they’ve changed the recipe!! – Always buy Arnott’s teddy bear biscuits to take camping & dunk in coffee, but this time they just weren’t the same! Tasted terrible & don’t soak up the coffee. Do they think we won’t notice?? Never again, I’ll have to find another biscuit & it won’t be Arnotts! Show details
It’s definitely NOT a better Teddy Bear biscuit – I love Arnott’s Teddy Bear Biscuits — I thought — until I was recently given a packet of Teddy Bear Biscuits. When other reviewers say that Teddy Bear Biscuits don’t taste the same, they’re right. They don’t. They don’t dunk, they float. It’s not an improvement, Arnott’s Biscuits. Teddy Bear Biscuits were larger, thicker, richer, tastier, had… Read more
better crumb, and over all were a much better Teddy Bear biscuit-eating experience. Restore the Original Recipe Teddy Bear Biscuits, please. Though restoring the Teddy Bear Biscuit would mean cutting into the company profit. I would certainly pay a little more for a better Teddy Bear Biscuit.

All wrong! Size, taste and texture – I looked forward to dunking the teddy bear biscuit in my tea as I used to do. What a surprise. The biscuit was thin and much harder than I remembered. Did not soak up the tea at all. There’s another product from the past which I won’t be buying again. Show details
They don't soak in milk any more!! And something is wrong with the taste :( – I used to love soaking teddy bears or scotch fingers in cold Milo. Dipping them in, holding them in there for 10-15 seconds, and then eating them soft. Now, you can leave them in there for a minute and they don't soak up anything!! And the taste is off. They don't taste like anything. Well... like cardboard. The recipe has definitely been… Read more
changed, and not for the better. Is it because they are trying to make them healthier or something? Horrible.
They used to be a staple in my house. Much softer and crumbly and tasted terrific. Will not be buying another pack.
Arnott's what have you done?!?!?
