Why did I buy this thing? – I bought the unit a couple of months ago and it is actually 26cc. The best thing about the unit is that it starts easily. The fuel pickup in the tank is wrongly designed and it will not keep running if tipped onto its left side. Only one cutting bar moves. The other is fixed to the underside of the engine and cannot move. The result is that the unit vibrates fiercely in spite of what the advertising says. The bar cuts ok but the clutch slips most of the time, especially if the greenery being cut is sappy/sticky. It uses heaps of fuel. Do yourself and your bank account a favour and leave it in the shop/warehouse. DON'T buy one.

You get what you pay for – Had it for 6 months. No issues with cutting, that may change in time depending on quality of blades. Some screws came loose and have to be checked every so often. Biggest issue was boiling fuel on a hot day? Build up of pressure in tank affected its performance. Waited till later in day and ran OK. Overall I suppose for the money outlayed its not bad for smaller jobs. Does get heavy on larger jobs. Cheap Heavy, cheap construction on outer covers. boils petrol in tank on hot days.

Hedge trimmer – I bought one on Ebay 2 years ago (2011) and it has been very reliable, being used about once a fortnight. Only problem was a split black fuel hose which was easily shortened. Have retightened some nuts occasionally. Performance wise, it tears the branches instead of clean cutting, and so takes longer to trim. The latest model bar may be different. Also purchased a pole hedger which is clean cutting and reliable.

2018 update - I have since replaced the stop-start switch with a different one from Jaycar, as the plastic broke (easy to fit). But the hedger just keeps going strong. So I have uprated it from 2 to 3 star. Reliable Poor cut
