Super Time Saver – Bought in a combination set with their LT3 Line Trimmer, this leaf blower is a real beauty. It's big, noisy, and really blows!...up to 130kph. Yes it's very chunky, but at under 3kg, and an ergonomic handle, one can use it easily for most jobs. At home, my large deck is covered in wisteria, shedded leaves in Autumn, and flower petals in late Spring.....I've swept it for over 20 years, until now...This is so fast and easy, it's now a pleasure to clean my deck in under a minute. I bought this back in December 2021, and now almost a year later, I bought another as a gift to my son....... (about $100)

Purchased in at Edisons for $152.

Supplied 2Ah battery isn't powerful enough. Needs a 4Ah battery – I bought this leaf blower for an elderly relative to help get rid of problem leaves during Autumn. I've bought a couple of things off Edisons in the past and been happy with their fast delivery and product range. Before gifting it I tested the blower out a couple of times. The blower itself is very capable and would have sufficient air volume and speed for most suburban properties. (I've got an Ego 56V 900m3/h leaf blower and am comparing it to that.) A good point for the BL3 is the variable speed control- a missing feature on the budget blowers from other brands. Variable speed is handy for activities like blowing leaves out of garden beds without also blowing mulch away. The BL3 is also light in weight compared to something more powerful like my Ego 56V blower.

Now the bad bit- there is a 20V 2Ah lithium battery supplied which (to put it bluntly) simply isn't up to the task. If I charge the battery (or top it up) and then use the blower the battery will cut out within a couple of seconds of selecting the MAX speed setting. The blower then needs to be reset by returning the thumb wheel back to the off "0" position. It will keep cutting out and not work on the MAX speed.

Speed 4 (out of 5) will run until the battery is flat- but I'm talking about a run time of less than 5 minutes! That doesn't even get close to their website's claims : "Running Time: Up to 10 Min. by Low Speed, Up to 6 Min. by Fast Speed"

I Emailed Edisons Support within a day of receiving the blower and included a video of the blower in action. That was a week ago and I haven't had a reply.

Update: A 4Ah battery (supplied under warranty- read comments following this review) has made a big improvement. Max run time is up to 10 minutes. With the 4Ah I'd give it a 5 star rating. Edisons were selling it in a package with the 4Ah battery and whipper sniper IIRC. But it appears you can only buy the blower alone with the 2Ah battery

Purchased in at Edisons.

Hello Mitch, My second Email to support@edisons.com.au was answered yesterday. I've been told a new battery (4Ah instead of the supplied 2Ah) is going to be sent next week.

That should fix the problem, but perhaps Edisons should only sell the blower with a 4Ah battery? (If my experience is anything to go by?)

I'll post an update when the new battery is received and I get a chance to test it. (It was given as a gift.)

Regards, David

Hi Mitch, Yes, thanks for supplying the larger 4Ah battery. As mentioned, a (elderly) relative has the leaf blower, hopefully I'll be able to catch up with them in the next week. They have the battery, but haven't used the blower due to the wet weather. I'll test it again, check Max speed works and time how long it lasts at that speed.

I'll post an update on here.

Regards, David

Hello Mitch, An update. My wife called in today, charged the new 4Ah battery and then ran the blower on Max speed. With the larger battery it lasted for 10 minutes, so a big improvement. Thanks, that's fixed the only flaw it had. There's plenty of power- a surprising amount comparing it to my 56V Ego blower (rated at 900m3h.)

Have Edisons considered only selling the BL3 blower with the larger 4Ah battery?

Regards,

David
