Ongoing problems – Hi i have had a DPLite i for 3 years and it has frozen severral times, wants to check itself and the HDD every so often for some unknown reason, I have had to do a total disk re format twice whci is very annoying and lost all of my programs ( Wife & I "not happy Jan" ) but other than the fiddly remote which i agree with other users comments, it has served me well until now, It will now not switch on and the light flashes and I cannot get into the setip to see what givves. I contacted service and they were helpful BUT I have to return it to Sydney from Melb for them to look at it $ 99 + postage etc and 2-4 weeks to return if fixable.

Current issue:

Is there anyone out there who has had the power switch go west ? and if so can a local serviceman just replace this switch or are we forced to go back to beyond Wiz and pay financial roulette with

them ??? When it worked it was very good and reasonablly OK to operate silly issues i had nothing to do with - product quality ??

Great Product – We bought our Beyonwiz DP-Lite i about 4 months ago to replace a video recorder that died, plus we needed a set top box to get all the free digital channels - yes, I know, we're behind 99% of the population! We did a bit of research on the net and the Beyonwiz DP Lite i seemed to get the most thumbs up. Being technologically challenged, it took us a while to set it up, but now we've got the hang of it, it is so easy to use. The instruction booklet is pretty user-friendly and the on-screen TV guide is convenient and easy to navigate. We can record programs on two different channels and watch a pre-recorded program all at the same time which is very handy.

There may be cheaper units on the market, but from our research they are either unreliable, have less features or aren't user-friendly. Our 500GB Beyonwiz has become indispensable. I don't think we'll ever use up all the recording space, because we like to record, watch and delete, but if we do, we have the option to plug in an external hard drive up to 1TB which would triple the storage!

We purchased our Beyonwiz online from Ice TV. They usually offer the best price, plus they often have specials which include varying lengths of free membership to Ice TV. We got 2 years free membership, but I don't think we'll ever use it.

We thoroughly recommend the Beyonwiz DP Lite i for convenience and reliability. user-friendly, reliable, worth the money

This is a poor PVR in general. Choose this as a cheap last resort. The media playback is often not compatible with new formats, there are very few updates to the firmware and no internet based update at all.

The remote is more difficult than it needs to and the interfaces inside the player are counter-intuitive.

The list of current, un-addressed bugs in the Beyonwiz website is embarrassingly long.

The units crashes often and there is no in store support from where you buy the unit, you must return this to the manufacturer in Sydney to get warranty support.

There are many media player units that put this to shame at a third of the price for the playback functions.

The PVR function is suitable, for simple, once off recording. If you want series record based on name, or an updated EPG on a regular basis, then you need to keep restarting the unit to get the updates correctly.

Often recorded shows start times are not updated from the EPG between the time you choose to record the show and the time the show starts, which results in missed sections of shows.

Update. We have had our Beyonwiz DP-Lite i for 3.5 years now, and it still works well. We have had no issues at all with it, so we are well pleased with the unit.
