Bosch Multi Sander

Bought from Amazon Australia , product came from Germany, have had trouble in first 12 months of light use with sticking Bosch. Makita, USA & UK brand sanding pads as well as Amazon pads to the Velcro. Cannot find a supplier of replacement pads with velcro in Melbourne & dread going back to Amazon. Never again buy Bosch. Tool is fine, company is terrible – I’ve owned this sander for a number of years, and although the dust collection system isn’t great, it otherwise works as described and I’ve been happy. At the same time as my Bosch random orbital sander, the sanding plate wore out and sanding paper no longer sticks. I had to take them both to a service provider, they’re not user-replaceable… Read more
despite being held on by a couple of torque screws, where I was quoted 3 weeks without my tools *and* replacing the sanding plates would be more than the cost of a new tool. Bosch treats their tools as disposable so that’s what I’m doing - disposing of them and buying from a competitor who makes small parts available to consumers. 0/10 would not recommend Bosch.
Unusuble – Unfortunately as this was a gift this will end up in landfill. Have been using this for simple sanding and the pads have melted and the sandpaper no longer connects. Really disappointing! Don't buy this.
Returning second unit tomorrow – I have now had two of these sanders, both came to the same end in a very short time. Due to the dual pads (rectangular and triangular) there is a connector system made from plastic that wares from the vibrating of normal use, the pads then become loose and unusable. This time I will be asking for my money back, and will be purchasing another brand. Show details
Reliabl – Had this sander for a number of years. No problems, works when needed. As a DIY machine is very good. Dust bag is effective and easy to clean. Difficult to find the right sanding discs though. I need to order discs as special orders from local or use Makita or generic brands.
Happy with it so far – No problems to report with this sander so far. I had read of the velcro coming loose due to poor gluing, but I haven't experienced this yet. I believe that's from people holding it down too hard so the pad gets very hot. I just give it a break every couple of minutes. Just wish the dust extractor could be a little more powerful, but it's a sander after all, your going to get dust everywhere!
Got my project done – I wanted the Bosch PSM 160 because I have other Bosch products and am very happy with them. Well , I bought this one and away I went. I had to sand furniture to repaint so I needed it to last at least 6 smaller pieces (children' s bedroom furniture). It worked great, got the job done with a lot less dust than expected. Took the project out… Read more
back though. It went through paper pretty quick would be my only complaint. But the paper is easy to scoop up from many places. I like this Bosch because it isn't over $100 and it isn't cheaply made and under $50. Comfortable to use and carry. Works good! easy to carry, use goes through a lot of paper per "project"
Very poor longevity – I use a machine like this infrequently, thus the one I have is 2 - 3 yo but was only on its second project when it failed completely. Contacted Bosch and was told to take purchase receipt back to where purchased and they would return to have assessed, problem is it was a gift so have no idea where purchased etc. To give credit Bosch were very… Read more
quick in responding to my email enquiry.
I see that they sell for $99 at Bunnings so once again it's made as a disposable piece of crap that's not worth repairing.
Very disappointed as have older Bosch power tools that have given great service but it appears now that they have gone down the disposal path with short use life.

Good – A nice feel in the hand and easy to operate. It came with some sand paper. It takes two peices at a time. However I have noticed most hardwares stock this size replacement paper so should not be a problem getting more stock. The filter catches most of the dust caused by sanding witch is very helpful whilst sanding inside a house full of gear.… Read more
Light weight and compact. Dust catcher is helpful as not to dirty the area too much.
It has a replacable tip ( it is actually around half of the pad but importantly replaces the tip.) Catch twenty two. The dust box is large and can get in the way, not a big problem.
The tip seems pretty soft and bent up quiet easy.
