actual paid for products. The only response to my two email queries and one Facebook messenger query has been automated replies.There is no other way to get in contact with the company/supplier. Honestly, save yourself the hassle and avoid this company - there are just as good weighted blankets available from reputable vendors with better customer service.

wake up in the early hours of the morning tossing back and forth trying to get comfortable and then my overthinking brain would kick in and I was back to square one. I’d wake up the next day feeling vague, tired and lethargic but I just put it down to everyday life, work and so forth. I got so used to it, I felt it was normal to feel this way & that’s not healthy when I think about it now. Who knew a simple blanket would change your mindset I heard about these blankets many years ago but never really decided to buy one. They were basically too expensive or there were cheaper ones and I wasn’t going to pay hundreds of dollars for “just a blanket” as I originally called it. Fast forward to today and I’m so pleased I took that plunge and bought one. It’s only been two nights sleeping with my weighted blanket but it’s been the best sleep I have had in years. The feeling of comfort and weight and I woke early hours of the morning only to fall straight back to sleep and I mean you do fall into a deep sleep. I woke up refreshed and felt amazing. Some cons to consider for potential buyers – I really wanted to love this blanket, especially considering the cost, but I am a bit disappointed. so. 3. My husband really doesn't like being under it! So it's not for everyone. 4. It pulls our normal doona off the bed on my side, so my husband ends up with less doona and therefore cold. Plus it's hard for him to pull the doona back to his side because of the weight of this on top of it. 5. The edge of this blanket bunches up and lies heavily in between my husband and I, and acts as a barrier between us. This makes it hard to have a quick cuddle before going to sleep. 6. Because it's woven, the "threads" can be pulled out of place. This wouldn't normally be a concern as they can be stretched back into place, but I have little people who find it very tempting to pull them and see how far they can be pulled. Not something you want to happen when spending that much money on the blanket.

All these factors wouldn't matter as much if the blanket significantly improved your sleep, but I don't feel it has a lot for me. So wanted to share these with potential buyers so you have a better picture of what to expect.

Pretty much every morning prior to trying a weighted blanket, I would wake up to a pit of dread in my stomach. Once I'd noticed the feeling in my body, my thoughts would then start their usual dance of worry and dismay until I'd either meditate myself back to sleep or crawl out of bed and start my morning routine which mainly revolves around inviting a calmer balance to my mind.

While the blanket itself took a bit longer than expected to come (the company quoted 5-8 business days, however it took 10 business days to arrive with 7 business days elapsing before the item was even dispatched), the wait was all forgiven when I woke up the first morning after trying it. I wasn't sure at first if it was the blanket or just a coincidence, but I woke up feeling.. nice? The knot in my stomach I was so used to being greeted with upon waking was nowhere to be found. At first I thought it could have just been a one-off, but after a week of using the blanket every night and waking up feeling calm and anxiety-free every morning, (even on days where I was expecting rebound anxiety due to medication dose reductions) I'm pretty sure this blanket is everything it's hyped up to be, maybe more.

The negatives: I find I have to re-adjust the ties every second day or so, and it is annoying when the weight starts falling around and I have to investigate every tie. If the woven blankets they sell came in nicer colours, I would definitely have chosen that over this one; however I do like the fact that the cover can be removed to be washed because I expect that this will get a lot of use. All things considered, there doesn't seem to be much need for improvement in the actual product itself. It would be nice to see it offered at a price point a little more accessible to those on lower incomes as it is a relatively pricey investment, albeit a good one. I am 5'9" and weigh between 75-80kg and chose the 9.0kg blanket which I think was the perfect choice considering how effective it has been. I would recommend this to anybody who suffers from anxiety or imbalances of the lower chakras.

It works for me! – Stayed at my sisters; with a weighted blanket on bed. She lives on a busy road in Melbourne and I never sleep well there. With the blanket I had a very restful night! I bought the 6.8 Kg model as soon as I got home. Use it every night and take it away with me. Show details

Great returns and refund policy – I ordered 2 kids blankets and unfortunately they were way too small to put on my kids king single beds (It was my fault I should’ve read the measurements before purchasing). Products Are poorly made – went through two blankets in two years. the first tore while being washed despite their advertisement that products were machine washable. they sent a replacement blanket that began to fall apart within 6 months leaving warranty. severely disappointed in the overall quality on display. Show details

Great product and service – Love the breathable bamboo fabric as I was worried it would be too hot. Glass beads distribute evenly. The colour of both smoke grey and the Maldives green are lovely. The 9KG was a little too heavy for me but the free return was easy and customer care has been excellent. My new 6.8kg blanket is perfect. package, the blissful insta-reality bubble that was marketed to me burst — there was refuse, including threads and debris. It looked as though the blanket has been re-packed, and on a dirty factory floor. It comes in a cotton cover bag, so I didn't mind that so much — I just brushed it off. That said, there was a lot of it and I had to vacuum because I kept finding refuse on the floor. The most concerning thing however, is that one side of the blanket definitely. smells. bad. A lot like sweat. I might be wrong about the smell being sweat, but it seems odd that only one side smells? I couldn't believe this at first, but came back and checked 3 times and got a second opinion. It definitely stinks and the whole room started smelling like a home gym, so I put it back in the box, taped it up and got it the hell out of my room.

Now, I am all for washing things prior to use, and ordinarily I would do this. But I draw the line at washing what is clearly not a new blanket, which is what was sold to me.

I note that on Reddit (where the company cannot control the outcome of what pops up the top of the page in google or people's actual opinion and experience), people mentioned they got too hot in these blankets. Others mention the blanket had a bad odour when they opened the box. I can totally understand that synthetic fibres / textiles can have a smell, however I have other blankets made of the same fibre, and this is not the case. Also, it stands to reason that the whole blanket should smell, not just one side. Part of the reason I purchased this was due to the peace of mind that free returns gives, however my experience makes me wonder how many people are actually returning these for the reason of them being 'too hot', and how exactly does the company re-process stock? I'd like an answer on that [Name Removed]; do you wash the covers and re-sell the blankets? I can't see you throwing them away. I don't see any 'reconditioned' blankets for sale and given the standard retail protocol of 'no-return' on bedding, I would like some clarity around what the actual process on returns is, from Calming Blankets.

And [Name Removed], please don't come back with 'Was there water damage?' No [Name Removed], there wasn't. But here's a tip, how about wrapping it in plastic so consumers have a sense it has been quality-checked and approved, and that there is no way for you to raise the red herring of water damage? Particularly in the climate that we are in right now, I am appalled at this and part of me wants to take the blanket and have it analysed in a lab to see exactly what this smell is, to confirm or disqualify what I suspect it to be. Either way, it stinks and was not in new condition when it came to me.

I do expect the company to come good and either replace or return this; frankly I am still in 2 minds about whether to get a full refund and go elsewhere. I contacted them 2 days ago but this includes the weekend; I am not unreasonable, but I do expect this to be resolved asap on Monday 29 March. I suffer from a chronic illness and have purchased this for health reasons, so I still need to try one.
