Canon FS100

Good – Decent camera for general recording of family events and holidays. The size makes it convenient to take most places with ease. It does start to get a little grainy when recording in low light conditions which is helped by the built in light although can make people look a little pale due to the white white light it produces. I found the narrow field of vision annoying which meant indoors you kept having to pan around to record everyone, and with no thread for external lenses! Solved this by buying a ring adaptor, gluing to camera and using my wide angle lens.

Happy that it uses common SD based SDHC cards which are getting bigger and cheaper. Nice compact size so easy to keep in pocket when out and about. Fast start up, easy to use controls, built in LED light. Auto lens cover. SD card based storage. No thread for using wide lens. Narrow field of vision. Grainy picture when in low light. AC Adapter failed at 11 months of age, took Canon a month to replace under warranty :(
