Bad – For a product made in Japan I expected better. My very old analog Panasonic still works perfectly and am considering getting a new battery for it and re-using it or buying a 2nd hand Panasonic or Sony camcorder. I would not recommend buying a Canon product ever again as their service sucks. Like everyone else I found this camera a delight to use… Read more

and had many happy hours of videoing. Good quality videos etc. like all previous comments, same problems with the loading of the tape and video lines etc after a short period of time. Not worth repairing and canon were not interested.

Bad – wish I had spent more and had one that lasted a bit longer, I bought it to film the first years of my sons life, missed most of it due to camera faults when I needed it! worked well when it did work. easy to use. Hardly used it, bought it as birthday present less than 2 years ago, now says "remove cassette" when I try to load tape, wont turn on, cant get my footage off the tapes onto computer. Very disapointed.

Terrible – Very disappointed with this camera. We thought that we were doing the right thing by buying a brand name like Canon. In the meantime, we've also had problems with a Canon digital camera too. We won't be buying Canon again. Don't buy this camera. Waste of money. Picture quality was good (but only in good light). Easy to use. Poor picture unless you… Read more

have very good light. As per all the other reviews. Under light use, with us being VERY careful with it, one day it decided that it wouldn't accept tapes. I've missed filming a lot of my daughters second year because of this camera.

Terrible – If you want a reliable camera get Panasonic for that camera has served me for the last 6 years without fail. Canon is rubbish. A beautiful little camera that is easy to use and it produces a clear and sharp picture. This is the sort of camera that is easy to carry and I was delighted with my purchase. After fourteen months, when changing tapes… Read more

it would not allow me to insert a new tape. After several tries with other tapes it still would not work. The mechanism would close without a tape only. I took it the local service agents, Hartland Cameras in Perth and after quick examination and was quoted $250 for the repair. I was staggered that after putting a maximum of four tapes through it should fail so dismally. Canon were less than interested and if they had said 'stiff bikkies' that was the extent of their concern.

Terrible – The repairer's opinion was that most brands were the same. I tend to agree because my internet reading says that many brands share internal components. I have a lot of ways I could have spent the money better. So unless you can spare the money almost without caring, don't buy one. Light weight, can be carried around neck for a long time. Easy to… Read more

use, hardly need to read manual as everything works how you would expect it to. Performs way better than entry-level film movie cameras ever did. As other reviewers, stops loading tapes for no obvious reason, then is way beyond economical repair or even having a quote. Was told by repairer who does business work for us, we trust them, most entry-level cams do not last more than 2 years. This one had shot a total 6 hours of tape, and played each one back about twice. It had no significant bumps or other accidents.

Major Problem – The camera operates ok, and actually gives a good picture in good light - but poor in low light conditions. But like a previous reviewer, after about 18 months with light use it now won't accept tapes. Repair is expensive and not worthwhile. I would avoid these Canon models for this reason unless it's very very cheap.
