MG5560 Performance – Worked reasonably fine for the first year. Then started getting issues with paper feed. Now printer is giving 1403 error - the system does not recognise the print head. I've taken the print head out, cleaned it thoroughly - including rubber seals, to no avail. So basically a new print head required - time for new printer. In summary, this printer is OK for basic 12 months of operation, anything longer will result in errors.  Show details

Useless now, will not recognise cartridges – Printer has never been great, takes a long time to turn on and off with lots of noise and whirring. Why it can't just turn off and on I don't know. Moot point now as it won't recognise any ink cartridges. Never liked this printer, glad it's broken. I won't buy Canon again.

Never misses a beat, fantastic printer – Can't understand complaints, my printer works well, very happy, excellent life from ink cartridges, ease of operation, good scan quality, accepts generic cartridges no problem, Canon ink cartridges are too expensive, never use them, a set of Cano cartridges cost more than the $80 I paid for the printer, happy.  Show details

Great printer – I have had 2 of these printers and they are great. I cant believe the bad reviews on this printer. People say that they are expensive to run well maybe they are if you use Canon inks. We use them in our office to print all day long and they work fine. Dean ( Owner of Ink Hub )  Show details

Don't understand the problems people are having – I brought my Canon MG5660 printer and followed installation instructions exactly. Result, it works perfectly. I have two computers connected through Wi-Fi and both pickup the printer. If using through Wi-Fi then following the instruction on connecting to the modem I found was a must. End result I am very happy with my new printer as it does a lot more and then some for my requirements.

Ok for the money – I doubt anyone is considering this review now that is discontinued and 4 years old but here it is anyway. Had the printer for a 4 years and it finally gave me the B200 hardware error during a 18page duplex job (34 page). Considering it was $92 new and lasted me 4 years, I'm pretty happy. Shame that i now need to somehow get rid of all my unused ebay ink. I was happy enough to buy another Canon printer.  Show details

not recommend it – I had this printer for 4 years I hardly used it, and only few pages in this time. It gave me the error message B200 , I contacted Cannon terrible service they said it was a hardware problem. They were not specific , not given me any type of support like other companies, that is troubleshooting, repairs service station. After much discussion that… Read more

it should not be in need of repairs because the small amount of use it is almost new. They were not interested. The ink are too expensive they cost more than the printer is madness. Yo have replace all the cartridges when one is empty is a joke when they say is economical separate cartridges . Also the printer is always cleaning even after each printing. This waste ink .I will not buy from Cannon again, there are 5 cartridges too many and expensive.

Useless printer – I am definitely NOT happy with the printer. Waste of money. Cartridges always running out. I don't want colour, but can't scan, photocopy or print in b&w if colour cartridges are dry. They just get dry by sitting in the printer. Would not recommend. Sick of buying cartridges and won't buy any more as I have now spent more money on the cartridges… Read more

than the printer. When the cartridges first went dry, i was told they were a strarter set and the new ones would last much long. Should have written review 2 years ago. will now buy a b&w laser printer (not Canon)

Great Printer until – This printer I've had for a few years has been used sporadically for basic home tasks.. Until a least one year ago we started going through errors that keep popping up and we cannot get rid of even changing ink cartridges constantly. I have given 5 stars on the general years to start with but I'll say it has gone terribly in the past 12-18 months...  Show details

B203 code is awful – Bought this printer from Googguys 18 month ago, was works well untill B203 error. Tried to contact Canon , but only inspection cost me 50$ and they will give me quote if they found the problem. I can buy a new printer with that money. Thought I can buy a print head, but it costly plus seller not sure it can fix B203 code. Tried to Google B203… Read more

Don't Buy It – Did loads of research on printers where the cartridges aren't more expensive than the printer and plumped for this one. I wish I hadn't bothered - it's temperamental, intermittent and I have to re-enter the Wireless code every time I use it. Then it throws out two blank pages and says it's finished. Permanently says the printer is off line. It… Read more

Rubbish – After going through numerous cartridges and paper not being loaded, we have reached the end of the road with this thing. It will not connect to our mac, ipad or laptop. It is very difficult to get it to connect wirelessly to the net. For a while we had it working fine, though inconsistently, but now it is just a piece of plastic. We never used… Read more

Expensive to run – I've had this printer for almost two years, but I've only recently discovered, in printing a fair amount of word documents, that the printer primarily uses the colour cartridges to print black and white documents. Furthermore, the printer is unable to print black and white documents without colour cartridges. I've calculated the cost per page to be around $1 ... how ridiculously expensive to print black and white files!  Show details

Good, but needed an ink refill after 100 pages!!!! Set to lighter print colour – REVIEW - CANNON MG5660 PIXMA home printer: This printer chews through ink cartridges, so be sure to set print to lightest shade and even then do not expect the ink to last as long as a ream of paper. The ink cartridge replacement cost ($100+) is crazy considering. Also, endless errors. From the set up (remember to reboot EVERYTHING a million… Read more

times) to day to day printing which for a while only happened after 3 attempts and an error on the MG5660 - bizarre! I have since reinstalled the software twice and most problems now seem to have been eliminated. Just have to reset the ink settings every time I print otherwise everything is bold and an ink cartridge literally last for about 20 pages!!! The cheek of some manufacturers:)

Not sure about security of my wifi when this thing is on either. And why have a port for direct connection but no cable? Otherwise seems okay - my other two printers (a HP and another Cannon) are pretty bad too, I guess the manufacturers have a strong incentive to ensure that we spend spend spend on either the upgrade or the consumables. So much for a cheap $60.00 printer:(

DO NOT BUY ABSOLUTE RUBBISH – What a terrible printer from Canon, you can't possibly be proud of this unit! Replaced 5 ink cartridges for $115 only 2 weeks ago and already run out of 2 with minimal printing done. Going back to a hp reliable printer. Do not buy this printer it is a waste of money. Canon call centre suggests taking it to a centre for assessment - more money I shouldn't have to spend.  Show details

Canon MG 5560 won't AirPrint from iPad cause it wants to print all my documents through the Canon Ga – The printer was good and used for air printing. Recently the printer threw up a message re registration with Canon. Now I can't AirPrint at all from the cloud though it still copies and scans. I am unable to register the printer as I do not want my private documents being with Canon nor Google etc. As I cannot fix the printer so an expensive trip… Read more

Rubbish – Too much ink being used and constantly screens errors, it also uploaded 672 mb of data. Never again Cannon!! The reason I did not write more than fifty words is because I have wasted so much time on this piece of garbage already cannot think of why anyone would want to by this lemon of a printer.

Very disappointed with MG5660 purchase – Just purchased this printer thinking it an upgrade to wireless from my cheaper but reliable MG5150. Very dissapointed – Only had my MG5660 for just over 2 months have not used it loads about 2-3 pages a day so about 40-60 in total ink already needs replacing and having problems with paper not loaded error also there is a clicking noise while using. In the past I have always stuck with canon as they make quality printers may be time to try another brand this has been a total waste of money. Will be buying a new printer tomorrow want be a canon though

Deal Breaker – I've used Canon printers for over 15 years. Mainly multifunction inkjets. MG5560 is far worst/poorly made. Sent to service center after 3 months of using it, replaced ink cartridges more than 10 times with only a few prints. Now it doesn't load paper unless the error comes up to press ok.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly – I have had my MG5560 Canon Printer for possibly twelve months now - but, as I'm retired, I am not a big, or regular, Printer user. However I have found: The Good: I originally had problems setting up my Printer but, once working, I have had relatively few problems. Quite happy with print quality. The Bad: This Printer seems to chew through… Read more

the ink cartridges at a much faster rate than used in my old Canon Printer (both genuine and similar cartridges) and I wonder if this is an intentional 'fault' inbuilt by Canon? Surely it is not just my printer?

The Ugly: The price asked for genuine Canon replacement ink cartridges is exorbitant considering how often they are required.

Works just fine...now – Not long after set up the printer started to misbehave. Error code said paper not loaded. The sliding tray needs to be fully 'home' which makes a connection signalling the printer the paper is… Read more

loaded.

If there is any dust, or foreign matter on the slide it won't make a connection and you get the error.

I cleaned the slides and worked the slide manually a few times applying a tiny amount of CRC spray.

Since then the printer has performed 100%. It makes a lot of clanking whirring sounds but prints fast with nice clear pages.

Bought alternative brand toner cartridges on EBay for a big saving which work perfectly too

Now I can print as often as I like and not worry about the cost. Great!

Slow But Humble – I had it for exactly 4 years now. I have used heaps of cheap inks on it but still works excellently. Unlike my HP Office-jet Pro 8610 which broke down after 2 months. Glad i bought one for now and for the decades to come. If i'd knew how bad the hp officejet was i would of never bought it but the canon never let me down.

Easy setup and use but awful paper feeding system – The Canon is easy to setup, use and print wirelessly from any device in the home. That's where the positive side stops as it takes almost 5 Min for a print job sent from your device to start printing and also the paper feeding cassette cannot be used easily as it holds only a few pages. Worst canon printer I have ever owned – Usually Canon printers are great, and this seemed to have all I wanted and great price. situation and opinion

When a couple of inks are low, it hasn't allowed me to scan at times.

The paper feeder often needs manually feed and resetting when printing

When scanning several pages it only allows you to do one at a time on the flatbed/top

Chews through ink very fast

While it print outcome is ok to good, it is not a printer I would ever get again or recommend.

On a plus it was cheap to buy, but not cost efficient

Wireless so handy to print from other devices

Has a lot of functions with printing and added touches via PC which are good and handy

I found half of the printer was great and user friendly, and the other half impossible or very complex

Again a cheap printer and for the price does the job.
