Canon Pixma TS5160

Purchased 6mths ago and today finally worked out how to use, extremely complicated. Something as simple as changing from colour to black and white you have to google how to do it.If you're like me and over 50 with reasonable IT skills it's not for you Show details
Like many others here, have found this printer to be hugely disappointing. It is slow, if it works at all, it prints half a page and then stops. I’ve reset it and uninstalled it and reinstalled it and changed the ink contacted the helpline and basically, it’s rubbish. Oddly it started ok but over time just got more and more glitchy until it now just doesn’t even try. What a terrible waste of resources to make such a useless machine.
Should be allowed to put zero stars. This printer is expensive to run, seems to print 5 colour pages and require a new $50 ink cartridge, often when you try and print black and white it still prints in colour, and best yet, mine appears to be constantly stuck on Letter size...now for a printer where the common paper is A4, perhaps the default should be A4? What the hell is Letter size anyway? Show details

Canon has reminded me Cheep is never better! – Read the whole thing.. You really do get what you pay for and it’s not a bargain! The thing is so unreliable on its own and needs someone with a decently wired Tec mind to help it do anything! It’s sensitive and tells you it hasn’t got paper when it dose! It’s out right a needy little piece of tec! If you want a work horse that is… Read more
reliable and can actually work alone pay more cash.
If you can’t pay more cash you need to save..
This thing is a waste of landfill space.

Happy connections – I had a Canon 5060 for quite a few years and it was a great printer, but due to it's age it needed to be replaced so I bought the Canon 5061. It's as good as the 5060. So easy to connect......I was up and running in less than 10 minutes. Connecting the printer to my phone and tablet was another easy job, and it has a separate feed for Photo… Read more
paper, which I think is pretty neat. The print quality is also pretty good. All in all I am happy with my purchase. I have read so many negative reviews about the Canon 5061 which, in my case, are not warranted.
Fairly easy to set up – I've just bought this item and found it really easy to set up. Connection was fast and virtually does it by itself. I used the CD for my desktop and the online installment on my Laptop. Both are working via wifi Hint: The USB cable does not come with it, BUT, if you're upgrading from a previous Canon Pixma Printer, hold on to your cables. The… Read more
USB, should you need it, should still be compatible. But if setting up wireless, you probably won't require it. Just pop it with your spare cables...we all have a few ;)
You do get a new power lead, but you'll find you older pixma power cable is most likely still compatible also. (Pop that with the spare cables, just in case) For $89 it's a good unit for home office or personal printing
Prints like a pro. Still working out duplex printing, but I'll get there.
GREAT LITTLE PRINTER! – Had this printer for a year now and its never missed a beat! Its a printer thats cheaper than the ink god knows what some people expect. Maybe the problem with this printer is the operators writing these crap reviews Show details

Waste of money – Extremely difficult to connect to WiFi. Have to reconnect every time you want to use it. Difficult using android app. Loads of error messages. Now keep getting error message say no paper in cassette. There is paper. Put in same as always. No indications of how to fix. Have previously had very good experience with Canon printers but I don't know what they've done now. Absolutely rubbish. Will never buy another one again
Waste of money! – Replaced my Canon TS5060 only because I couldn't purchase the 5060 anymore. What a disappointment. Ink is much more expensive and can't buy individual colours. On the first ink replacement the printing is not working properly. Have run multiple head cleans and alignments to no avail. Only prints every second line and uses heaps of ink in the process! Never had this problem with the old printer. Not happy! Show details
Worse home printer ever – This printer is a real piece of rubbish. Do not waste your money. It constantly comes up with the same error. No matter how many time i follow the steps as defines by the manual, the printer refuses to work. Please do not bother with it. Show details

Just awful! Won't do the basics. Don't waste your money – I'm actually impressed that after decades in the business, Canon are still churning out horrendous printers with the most basic issues. Want to print in greyscale? Tough! No matter where you set the grescale setting (and there seems to be numerous places for some reason), the printer will just print in colour any way. How about duplex? Not a… Read more
chance! It says it can do it and again, no matter where you set the duplex setting, it overrides it and prints single sided. Whoever wrote the drivers for the printer needs to be sacked and preferably put in stocks in a town square so we can all come and throw rotten tomatoes at them. Thanks, Canon, for wasting hours of my time, my money on buying the piece of crap, and all the ink and paper you've wasted too!
Worst buy – Have had several Canon printers over the years and have always been happy. The Pixma TS5160 would have to be the worst buy of all time. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the colour printing. The printed image does not recreate original colours and the resolution is poor. The printer is noisy, takes ages to warm up and the paper jams. Show details
Absolute POS – It is accurate and objective to say this is going in the bin What a piece of rubbish Erratic Unstable Waste of money......Do not buy It doesn't even deserve one star, but I gave it one so I could publish a warning to others about this trash.

Disappointing Durability and Ink Quality – I recently purchased the Canon Pixma TS5160 with high hopes of a reliable and efficient home printer. However, after a year of use, I feel compelled to share my experience to caution potential buyers about its shortcomings. While the Canon Pixma TS5160 may initially seem like a budget-friendly option, the hidden costs associated with its subpar… Read more
durability, ink quality, and cartridge longevity make it a poor investment. I would strongly advise potential buyers to explore alternative options with better user reviews and a more reliable track record. It's regrettable to see a well-known brand fall short in delivering a product that meets the expectations of its users.
crap to say the least – This printer has been the worst printer I have ever had it wont come on line I have to keep taking the USB out of the computer to go on line Canon sent a driver upgrade link it loaded up i tried to do a complete reinstall it found the printer waited then said it cant find the printer 4 goes so its in the bin with the hammer through it its is a liability never again el cheap printers Show details
Should be thrown off a bridge – Hunk of junk. Continously cleans itself and then fails to print. 20 black and white pages from original ink cartridge, which is now empty. I paid 99 for the printer and I'm buggered if I'm going to pay 75 bucks for ink. Buy it, hit it with a hammer and go buy something else. Show details
Slowest printer I have ever used – Slowest Printer I have ever used and the most "uneconomical" printer I have ever used. It goes through ink so quickly because it spends 5 minutes using it up with its warm-up, alignment & cleaning processes etc, each time the dam thing starts. I hate it with a passion. Also if it runs out of colour ink (which it does twice as fast as any other… Read more
printer I have owned) & you still have plenty of black left in the cartridge it still won't print until you refill the colour cartridge. What a scam.
Cannon TS5160 – I Have NEVER SEEN Or Had Such A DUD of A Printer in my Life Now I try & print out a copy of a email to theTS5160 Printer & it cannot even print out the whole Screen Cannot put a Document under the Cover(same place when to Scan) & after it goes through its motions & Takes about 3-4 Minutes & then it Prints out A BLANK PIECE OF PAPER PATHETIC I… Read more

What a piece of utter garbage – I have never come across a machine that is so very busy all the time, without doing anything. All that shuffling, noise, etc; only to come up with yet another message about something it's not happy with. This is a Canon, seriously???
Terrible printer – I had this printer over a month and a half and it’s been hell! I brought it and tried getting the internet to work but wouldn’t thought it was faulty took it back and had the same issues… I tried connecting it with 4 devices and non worked so I took it back and got a HP which connected to my printer straight away. I even rang canon for their help… Read more
to which they told me I needed to split my internet connection which I did and it still didn’t work. Don’t waste your money buying it
Hate it – This printer was highly recommended to me by the JB Hifi sales assistant as he has it and I will never trust JB again. It is the most frustrating printer ever. It continually has an error yeah there is no paper in the rear tray (I have NEVER used the rear tray) so won’t print with that error but has no option to change the preference of which tray… Read more
to use, it is literally the luck of the draw if it will print or not. It required an app and consistently asks for the password to print. I’ll never buy a printer recommended by JB again and will never again buy a canon
Piece of crap – Wi-Fi never failed, Prints from phone all the time, lasted 5 years fills sturdy.... Great printer..... WHEN IT WORKS..... Spends more time telling me there's printer paper jammed when there's not or something obstructing the printer when there's not, to print one or copy one paper sometimes takes up to 10 minutes as it's either the above problem… Read more
or it won't feed from the cassette no matter how many times you tell it to...... Kind of feel like I have more luck with the pokies than printing with the printer

Regret buying this terrible printer! – Takes ages to "Warm up " and "Collecting printer status". Its connectivity is terrible and unreliable. It grinds and groans without doing anything but finally, sometimes, it actually prints the document. I'm currently trying to print a second single page pdf with no result after over 10 mins. Its still "Collecting printer status" even though it… Read more
was printing a few moments before. Resetting, uninstalling, reinstalling, reconnecting to WiFi never helps. So frustrating! I've tolerated the Canon TS5160 for long enough. Its into the bin and I'll buy another brand.
Biggest piece of crap I bought – Biggest piece of crap I bought, regret buying it!!!! Took hours for the software to in stall, and the scanner takes two days to warm up, have not been able to scan a document with this piece of crap!!!! Show details
Not bad for the price – Was cheaper to buy a new printer than to buy Ink for my old canon printer. Instructions were a bit vague but easy to set up. Printing direct from my phone is a breeze , overall not a bad unit for the price. Don't understand why people have trouble setting it up . Show details
Good Enough – So it was a good little printer to buy. Very affordable, but, i would've liked it more if the ink didn't run out; or to have more than 1 color and 1 black catridge. My mums printer has 8 ink catridge. The colours are: Magenta, Yellow, Cyan, Black, Orange, Purple, Brown and sort of a dark yellow colour. It so good. Plus, it was hard to find a cord for it to connect to computer. (I dont know how to connect it via wifi and I don't have wifi)
Totally unreliable. Has a mind of it's own – When it does work, it prints well. Most of the time it does not respond and I have to reinstall from scratch. So when it does work, I have to print everything I can so that I am not caught short of time when I need another file printed urgently. Totally unreliable. Many times I have requested print, and it will not respond, then suddenly during… Read more
the middle of the night (several hours later) I will hear it start up out of the blue and print my document. I am sick and tired of having to delete the printer from my computer and reinstall it again. Much time and energy wasted. Very disappointed. Have just spent $130 on ink cartridges. When these run out I will be buying a new printer.
Terrible printer model – Printer has refused to co-operate from the start. Has constant software syncing problems and every time I go to print there are myriad issues. Control panel and paper tray flimsy. Minimal instructions book, also actually tells you to go online for instructions where you run the risk of being exposed to scammers pretending to be Canon operatives.… Read more
This is all a pity because the actual print quality once you re-run the marathon of software hoops every time you try to print is really good.
Pixma generally good TS5160 rubbish – I have a Canon Pixma TS5160 and cannot describe how disappointed I am with it. After having several other Pixmas and not having any problems with one is beyond words to the problems. Every time I turn it on I have to go through a minefield of things to get a scan, a copy or a print colour or black and white. Problems with paper size (I usually… Read more
use A4) not being recognised - being recognised in the back when I am using the front paper loading and visa versa. Not printing photographs to the paper size I choose, takes forever the print something when it eventual the request etc etc etc. It going in the bin if I don't throw it through the window first.
Disappointed in engineering and reliability – Terrible printer. most unreliable printer I have owned. Fault5100 constantly. Bought HP mid 90s which was poor and switched to canon, great printers, lasted years. I would think this is my 4th canon printer, absolute rubbish. Show details
Good printers should reliably work: this one doesnt – Dissatisfied with this printer with minimal use. Worst Canon injet experienced I think this is number 4. Canon print App problematic and connections with phone problematic. Wont buy a Canon again. Very disappointed. Show details
Flimsy and not worth the money – Print quality ok. Screen is difficult to see/read, connectivity ok... but having used a Canon MG5700 previously, which was a lovely solid printer, there is no comparison. This is built like a toy, with flimsy plastic.. the lower print tray basically sits on the desk under the printer and has a cover which is just another piece of plastic that… Read more
you place on the top. Not even connected! Has a rear tray you don't even know is there until it tells you that there is no paper in the rear tray... I've used it twice and it is telling me the ink is low. Some say this is a cheap printer and one shouldn't complain, when the ink is more expensive than the printer.. I say the ink shouldn't be so expensive. Why is it so expensive? It wasn't as inexpensive a printer as others, as I didn't want to chance bad quality ! Ha! And, if Canon wishes to tarnish its reputation with a trashy little toy printer, I think that is their error, not mine. I won't buy Canon again. Unfortunately my MG5700 started suddenly throwing up an error after around 2 years, saying it needed a repair call, and the advice given was 'get a new printer'. It broke my heart to throw it out, still shiny black and when it had served me well... but there was nothing I could do to save it.
Deranged - don't waste your money no matter how inexpensive it is – This printer constantly presents with error codes, won't print from the loaded tray, and essentially comes up with every excuse why it shouldn't print! The paper auto select doesn't work and it won't even print direct from the internet - you have to save it to your computer. It also chews through the ink cartridges which are more expensive than… Read more
the printer. The worst printer I have ever had and may as well be chewed up in a recycling machine. The printer is only 2 months old and has been a total waste of money.
Rubbish...DONT BUY – Loading paper is rubbish. Tells you the size of paper in the cartidge is incorrect but it isn't. Terribly slow. Mine is 3 months old. Told it was a great printer from the fellow at Good Guys. What a joke. Waste of money. It's going in the bin Show details
iP7260 typical Canon b200 fault – Last 3 Canon printers ended up with the same fault about 2 years out of the box...
