Avoid at all costs – In the end of 2019 I contacted Capital Doorworks for a quote on a rather large automated double security gate for my home. I agreed to the quote ($11,000) and the gates were installed Mar 2020. This is where the problems started. Gates arrived damaged from transport. Wrong security drop bolt locking system ordered and fitted, so now have multiple… Read more

rusting drilled holes from their mistake. Fitted the right drop bolt a month later. Fast forward 6 months to mid 2020 and the gates lost their set points and weren’t closing properly for the second time. They sent someone to repair this. A month after this they failed again and I started using them manually due to the unreliability. Called them to request a fix under their warranty and calls were never returned. Now in 2022 I’ve contacted them via phone and email to have them repaired prior to selling my property and had zero response. Was told to email them after multiple calls and the receptionist saying staff were too busy to take my call or help me. Their warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Have since dealt with ACT Doorland for the repair and they’ve been brilliant. Capital Doorworks also made the gates for my new subdivision property, 6 months on site and surprise surprise, the gates already rusting.

Take your chances – We have been left with a substandard result including damage to the house and door panel by the extremely poor work from the subcontractor used by Capital Doorworks to install the garage door late 2019. Although a small discount was applied to the invoice ($200.00) after the costs for a plasterer and painter to rectify the cornice, I am still left… Read more

with a damaged panel which will cost approx $1,000 (expensive due to being Decowood and a long, wide panel) for another company to supply and install. I am very disappointed with the attitude of the owner who was unwilling to accept responsibility and had an aggressive and bullying manner when I tried to discuss the issues I was not satisfied with. It became apparent that he was not interested in resolving the matter, offering solutions or suggesting a compromise so I stated I would pay the balance of the invoice and asked him to leave. Instead of departing, he began to make disparaging remarks and accusations about my nature, finishing with a threat of legal action to intimidate me. Having already stated I would pay the balance and just wanting him to leave, I was totally shocked by his behaviour so would not recommend Capital Doorworks for any future work. I am of the belief that mistakes happen - we are all human - but it is how they are dealt with that matters. I have had some excellent trades on the build with no issues (even when some things needed to be redone) and I promptly pay when work is completed to a good standard. I have had some trades when things haven't gone as well as I had hoped, but still managed to resolve the matter. However, the experience with the owner of Capital Doorworks was something else. He should be ashamed!

never again – Avoid like the plague, in fact I'd rather get the plague than deal with these guys again. You've been warned. Rude, unhelpful - in it for money only, zero customer service from technician. Wouldn't consider them EVER again. Show details

Won't return phone calls – I needed a security gate for my front door alcove, as we have had lots of burglaries in the area. I liked the designs used by the company, and they seemed like a solid, professional outfit. I was wrong. The gate was expensive (almost $5000) but I wanted peace of mind. The salesman who did the site visit for the initial quote seemed very… Read more

professional and knew his product. But the customer service ended there. As soon as they had my 50% deposit, they gave me the run around. I had to call them every 1-2 days for a couple of weeks before they could give me a date for the check-measure. Then I had to call them every 1-2 days for another couple of weeks before they supplied the design. And I had to make at least 3 phonecalls and emails to confirm the lock to be used. Every time I contacted them, the staff member I needed was 'busy' and they would return my call - which NEVER eventuated. Not once.

When the very expensive gate arrived, it was dented. No apologies or explanations were given, it was just installed partly damaged. And then I discovered that my 'security gate' that was supposed to stop burglars, had bars so widely spaced that my teenager could climb through with ease. They had also used screws on the door and the lock that could be easily unscrewed from the outside. Not much of a security gate!

When I contacted them to try and work out a solution (I wasn't seeking a refund, just a way of salvaging the situation, I realised I was going to have to cover any further costs), they refused to take my call. I contacted them three times - nothing but crickets.

In the end, I had to contract another company to install three Crimsafe screens on the inside face of the gate (costing a further $3000), to stop would-be burglars from just climbing through.

I would never recommend this company. Their customer service is absolutely terrible. And they don't stand by their product.
