DGTEC DG-SD160DVR

Does the job! – First of all, it would be so helpful to have a full manual with these modern things. But, I don't think this issue is unique to DGTEC. This player is at the cheap end of the market and you probably get what you pay for. It certainly does the job, which is the important thing. It plays multiple formats (DVD, MP3 and JPEG) and it is possible to rip CDs onto a USB stick. Yes, there are other brands that do more, but it is all that I need. No buyer's regret here.
The remote is small and so I pity any user who has bigger fingers.
An odd thing that happened was that when pressing a button on my TV remote, it caused the sound on the DVD player to reprogram itself. The background music still played, but no voice sound. After extensive googling, I found a solution. As there are many more fancy options (even in this basic model), a more extensive manual or more trouble shooting methods would have been appreciated. It took a long time to work out.
Amusing advice in the provided manual is not to place the DVD close to a television. Given that it mostly works with the TV, my DVD players have always been close to the TV.
Looking forward to the long life of this little beast. However, there is a one year warranty which is fairly standard.

Excellent – Its a really good unit, its simple to use, as you set the programs on the screen menu, and it has never missed a beat. The remote is also easy to use. Its not the most expensive unit on the market, but its really functional. I love that you can record 2 programs at same time. The "Time shift" is a fun feature. It was a great price at JB hi fi, easy to use. nothing to dislike
