Digitel HD3000 High Definition Digital
1 review
Good – A good high definition digital set top box with a low purchase price ($88.00 at JB Hi-Fi). My latest (3rd) HD3000 was purchased after the digital tuner on my Sony Bravia LCD TV stopped working (Sony KDL-32D3100). The HDMI connection allows convenient use of the HD3000 with the Sony and the picture quality appears to be as good as the original Sony tuner (a quick and cost effective alternative to a Sony service repair). Compact and attractive design with easy installation and setup (just follow the on-screen installation prompts). Set of RCA connection cables supplied (but no HDMI cable). Easy to tune and quickly picked up all available digital channels (Sydney). Picture quality is good and stable. Doesn't run hot, just slightly warm to touch which is to be expected. Remote control is easy to use with good features and programme guide. Instruction manual is clear and easy to follow. Digitel's web site has additional illustrated colour connection details for all likely connection combinations. No significant problems during use, although one out of three units purchased has failed after fifteen months and although Digitel was polite they were reluctant to provide any useful assistance as the 12 months warranty had expired. The User Manual indicates firmwear is upgradeable (RS232 connector) but no update is available on the Digitel website downloads link and a phone inquiry to Digitel indicates none exists (I see current units of the same model do show updated firmwear versions when checking "System Information" via the on-screen menu).
Dave its not the unit teletext has been switched off a couple of years ago.
