DSE Digital Set Top Box with 160GB Hard Drive Recorder

Good – I am very glad I bought this device. It was cheap enough that I could afford something that I wasn't planning to buy for another year at least. My wife is happy because we don't have a stack of video tapes to shuffle through! It was very cheap but it basically just works. The menu structure is clear enough that my wife can program it. The program titles are usually incorrect, suspect they aren't coping with daylight saving in WA. Sometimes you need to give it a "kick" to get the digital audio back again - it seems to drop out when you're watching something and another recording starts or ends. Just stepping back and forward in time is enough.
I could do with hierarchical menus and the ability to program more than 10 shows because we have enough stuff we watch regularly that it's hard to add a week's worth of movies in one hit (yes I'm lazy).
Good – i had my doubts about buying another dse product because of problems with them before. when i bought this i set it all up and then found that it didnt have the remote in the box, and it took ages for my local tandy store to get me another. the initial set up is very easy and taping programs is as equally as easy.the twin tuners are a brillant idea as is the abillity to be able to rewind live telly without recording. but the quality of the reception is no where near as good as the tuner on my samsung lcd tv. overall though is good value. the twin tuner
ease of use
the price not a very good tuner
