Heat problem solution - increase TVIX internal fan speed – The unit has a multi speed fan and the switch is in settings. As with all electronics access to fresh air flow is a smart move, if at all possible. We have a doored cabinet, which I cut the back out of (think non-structural panel reduction) and I leave the doors open at the front when possible. The cabinet also contains amplifier, digital radio and storage HDD, and I have never had a heat issue with any unit.  Show reply

Finally, A PVR Which Works The Way I Want – I have been looking for a PVR which does things on FTA television that I did with satellite TV through a Foxtel IQ. It needed to have provision for a hard drive, USB connection, would shuffle music files and automatically resume subsequently if the playback was stopped. Secondary considerations were Internet connectivity and twin tuners. This unit… Read more

ticked all those boxes, but even then after having had bad experiences with some that have failed over time, I waited for it to do the same but it is still going strong after a year or so of continuous use. It has three USB connections, two for flash drives and one for a USB printer cable though which you can connect an external computer like a laptop to manage the unit's hard drive, and a standard connection for wired Internet. Connection for wireless Internet is built in which I never got working but did not go into too deeply. No Sd card slot. Reads most video files except WEBM which are easily converted. I would have liked an RF out so I could send the signal to a second TV, but that is a personal preference. Easy setup, option of recording through EPG or manually, record one channel while watching another, HDMI. Never really able to connect to the Net with it, would have liked a RF out connection for a second TV.

Unreliable and no longer supported – Great features reasonable easy to use let down by reliability. It restarted frequently or hung in the 9 months I had one (actually two- both sent back under warranty). Company abandoned it with unfinished firmware for a new model. Very slow to start up. Good tuners and easy setup. But not worth trying- don't get tempted Small and play any format reliability and restarts
