Chainsaw good for the Ego – Ive got 2acres of botanic garden. Used to a Stihl 039. I bought the 350mm chainsaw to have something lighter for the wife and for bit more agility when pruning smaller stock etc. Chain tends to jump out of bar track often no matter how tight I tune the chain. Mostly a technique thing I think due to much smaller chain. The power is great and… Read more
batteries last as expected. I had a couple of very large hardwood eucalypt branches go down recently and this little unit chewed through it no problems wen tthorugh a couple of battery charges. Ive since purchased multi tools and blower. This gear will be put through it's paces on ,my place. It appears to be handling it well. Great not to muck around with fuel.
Buyer beware - Would not recommend – Purchased faulty product that worked once. Assessor confirmed ‘unfortunate’ manufacturing fault but EGO argued it was a ‘part failure’ not a fault. EGO also advised that they won’t replace after 2 weeks, only repair. Would not touch an EGO product unless you are happy to be without it.
Under powered – Service distant under warrinty a joke ego want me to drive 360km for repair in au total fail
Excellent yard tools and warranty – I purchased the Ego chainsaw recently, to round out my set of Ego tools including mower, pole saw, blower, etc.. I'm really pleased with the performance and light weight of the chainsaw, but also want to comment on the awesome warranty service provided by Ego. One of my batteries died and was replaced quickly with no hassle. Superb products and service! Show details

Perfect then not so perfect in quick succession – I bought the 56 volt Ego cordless chainsaw as a kit. It really is fantastic, easy to adjust with no tools, quiet, cuts well. I used it for one full charge maybe a couple of hours, all good so far. I went to use it the following week, lasted 5 minutes then dead. Nada. Took it back to Mitre 10 only 10 days after forking out nearly 500 bucks. I was… Read more
told they'd have to get in touch. No offer of a replacement. Notified a few days later it was being sent off. 3 weeks later I was told it was ready to pick up. Find out that my brand new product had to be repaired. With a disclaimer that repaired parts only have a 30 day warranty even though the tool is supposed to have a 5 year warranty. No idea how this is supposed to inspire confidence in a brand. In total had it for a month only been able to use it for 2 days. Fair enough if I'd had it for 6 months getting repaired. But crap after less than 2 weeks and only used once. Waiting to see from here on. This is the second ego product that has ended up back with them.
Epic fail - two times too many – During the huge storms of June 2021 in Victoria where thousands of trees came down, I needed to get a chainsaw to help with the cleanup. After fleeing the Dandenongs to safety on the evening of the storm, I knew we had lost our garage to trees and that's where all my other tree lopping stuff was (including my brand new EGO 450mm chainsaw). So I… Read more
rushed out and bought this 35cm EGO chainsaw so I had something to use whilst I figured out later if my other stuff was dead or alive.
So it was urgent use, lots to do and I got started with this chainsaw. 30 minutes into cutting, it failed. No power at all. When you hit the trigger on any of these EGO tools and you can see the battery, the green light turns on. This was gone... nothing. I pulled it apart, cleaned it up (although it only had sawdust in the housing) and tried again. Nothing. I rotated through multiple batteries. Nothing. DEAD
I took it back to Total Tools where I got it and they replaced it with another. No questions asked, they tried a battery themselves and saw it wouldn't work.
Got ready with the second one.. put it to a tree face ready to cut and.. DEAD. It died just like that. When I took this back to Total Tools they had to run this one via the EGO Sales Rep given "how unusual this was" and told me they'd get back to me. Weeks later, the EGO rep did nothing. Wouldn't call me, wouldn't tell the Total Tools store what to do, nothing. This was extremely disappointing. So I launched a formal complaint and had EGO Support deal with it instead of the lousy disinterested sales rep.
This chainsaw is very different from the bigger (and better) 450mm version. I felt as though it's manufacture and mechanisms for use were lousy by comparison. Almost as though a different company made it and it's a cheap rebrand. I can't comment on how well it cuts because it didn't work!
Fortunately for me in the month it took to get all this resolved, my EGO 450mm chainsaw was rescued from the wreckage on the 2nd day and I could continue to work on that awesome machine (see review).
I cannot recommend this machine at all. Two dead was TOO much so I have zero trust in it. Go for the 450mm instead.
awesome saw, petrol equivalent power and fast as heck – i have a large sthil and a mid sized sthil petorl saw as well as the electric sthil so i have something to compare to, i almost always reach for the Ego as its simply easy, it cuts and cuts, say 20-40 cuts of around 20-30cm diameter in hardwood with the 2.5 battery. the fact that it is ready to go as soon as you pick it up and is quiet and does not stink is a winner. electric is finally as good or better than 2 stroke.
