Rubbish. Straight to landfill product – I left a review on the site I purchased it from, but it seems they don't list 1 or 2 star reviews on their site, so I am here to give my review and warn others to stay away. DO NOT BUY. Cheap and extremely heavy. Revs at such high speeds which cant be controlled. Instructions and assembly an absolute nightmare to navigate. To top it off, some of the screws to attach the handles and strap were missing from the box. Show details

Really good, but REALLY heavy – This is one of the only tools I ever regret purchasing.. I do hedges for some friends and I wanted a pole hedger to get the tops.. but this one, its a 56V battery on 1 end with a really long steel (i think) pole and extension.. with a really heavy tough hedger on the end.. that much weight on the end of a long pole, especially on a ladder.. I'm in… Read more

my 40's.. I can use it, but its no fun.. it really wrecks you.. I wish I had of just bought a lightweight cheapy and used a longer ladder.

But.. sometimes you need the long pole.. and the tool does its job so take it for what it is..

The multi-tool aspect.. im still on the fence about.. I like the price point and it makes sense from an efficiency perspective.. I use the line trimmer all the time and its pretty good, with some thick line on it, its much better than the 18V stuff. But switching tools is a bit of a PITA.. but.. the price.. so pick your poison.

Finally the batteries are a really drama with Ego, both of my 2.5A batteries have had months where they dont work at all.. I've tried cleaning the contacts, but its a bit of a known issue it seems. I am really hoping they fix that stuff up, because I do like the Ego brand, and the warranty is pretty decent.. but when it fails.. its instant and without warning.. its something that hasn't happened on any of my cheapy 18V tech.

Fabulous gear but absolute rotten warranty service – When these tools {I have nine of their products} work they are fantastic !! My multi tool has failed four times and now my $1150 mower starts when it fields like it. There are two major issues with cordless tools. 1. they give no warning, they just stop. 2. there is only One repair shop! But EGO's communication system is a joke.… Read more

Twice they have asked for service feedback before they have sent the tool back. To obtain warranty service there are Four companies involved. The Retailer. The EGO company, Their Warranty Sub-contractor 'Install & Repair' Qld. and the actual sub-contract workshop which they send it out to in Laverton Vic.!!

Third Rate After Sales Service – Bought the Ego Pole Saw for Mother's Day. Sadly my son drove over it in the garage later that day. Everybody cried. It was a few days later I discovered that Ego's After Sales service and PR is next to none. Over the coming weeks I was passed down a line of two bit repairers. And then discovered there is no availability of parts. I will be binning the $800 pole saw, and when I can afford it buying a Stihl. Show details

Excellent build quality – I've recently purchased the EGO Multisystem with the hedge pole extension and the hedger head and I have to say I'm really impressed! I looked around at various other brands and aside from being cumbersome, the build quality just didn't compare to the EGO. This is my first entrance into rechargeable garden tools, having just sold a 2 stroke pole… Read more

trimmer which was heavy, smelly and noisy, making me loathe to use it before 10:00am on the weekend for fear of annoying the neighbours! The EGO is quiet, powerful and once you get the balance right, extremely versatile with the ability to rotate the head through 90 degrees. If I were to have a criticism of the unit, it would be the tilt lever needing to be re-designed as it can be a little tricky to press and unlock but otherwise I can't fault the unit. I find the the charge time and battery life with the standard 2.5 amp battery to be more than adequate for my needs. As for the inclusive hedge pole extension, I think it's a great bonus although in my case will probably remain in the box, unused. Overall it's not a cheap unit but with a 5 year warranty on the unit and 3 years on the battery, the old adage applies - "You get what you pay for!"

Not For Seniors – I originally purchased the EGO Multisystem with the hedge pole extension and the hedger head. I was thinking it would be lighter than the Stihl that I have used for maybe 10 years or more . Out of interest I checked the Stihl website and found they are still selling this machine and I could see the weight was around 6KG. This is where I made a… Read more

mistake.

The Ego was heavier, and they don't give an all up weight so it was not until I had the components I could check the manual and see the weight of each individual item.

The total was around 6.3KG plus the extension so that was close to 6.8KG and that was with the 2.5AH battery .

Right from the start I do not recommend the larger capacity batteries with the hedge trimmer .

The lightest of these is the 5.0 AH at 2.25KG so you can see you will be making a rod for your own back.

That is why I cannot recommend this unit to seniors unless you have strong arms and are fit.

The main advantage the EGO has over my older unit is that it is over 600mm longer which means I will spend less time moving my platform ladder around and you can see that from the photos I have supplied.

Of course it is battery operated so you can save time by not having to roll out an extension lead.

Also the EGO is a multisystem so you can add accessories like a pole chainsaw, an edger and a line fed trimmer and a cultivator. It is interesting to note that you must service the head every 50 hours , just a matter of topping up the grease but it's the first time I have struck this as my other unit was never touched .

It is heavy and I found the shoulder strap supplied next to useless and the hand grip cannot be used with the pole hedger and extension. I turned it around and placed it as far away from the battery unit but it still was to close to be of any use, however using it with the accessories might be what it is aimed at. There seems to be plenty of power and it has two speeds but I could barely pick which was which or see much difference with the pole hedger attached. The unit cuts very well and seems also to operate at a lower speed than my other unit but it may well be that there is not much noise so it seems to be going slower. I can recommend this but not to everyone .

Warranty is pretty good at 5 years and 3 for the battery and charger.

The battery takes about 3 hours to fully charge and as yet I can't tell you what the run time will be but I used it for around 10- 15 minutes and it still showed more than 60% but less than 80 % capacity so most people will get through more than one session of use before it needs a charge . I have seen people complain about lighter units and brands so if you think other brands are heavy you really do not want to be using this or you need to start to build up your upper body strength because you will get seriously sore and tired after a session with this in the garden.
