Epson talk a big game but – Rubbish unit. We just set a new record of 5 prints out of a brand-new black cartridge. There is no signs of leaking, the cartridge cant be empty but because the printer thinks it is there is nothing we can do to make it work. to use it because the print quality is so bad you have to do nozzle and print head clean for every print making it quicker to take print jobs to our local Officeworks. The same Officeworks that we bought it from who have wiped there hands of it telling us to take it Epson. The customer service with Epson has so many hoops you have to jump through to get any answer on where to take it for service/warranty. It is now out of warranty (was in warranty when we first brought this up) so If epson had backed their product there wouldnt be another piece of toxic E waste. Previous HP Multi function unit lasted over 10 years without skipping a beat. Expensive for sure but it worked!

Fantastic printer – Fantastic service from this printer. We are a bit "tech-savvy" so got through a few minor issues from time-to-time, but in the end got 17 years of excellent results before the carriage belt snapped. Beat that if you can! Show details

I've had many printers, and so far this one is the best! – I've owned several of printers in the past - Canon, HP, Brother, and now this EPSON machine. utility is great - automatic feeder or flatbed, and I love the two-sided printing. I don't use the printer a huge amount, but the ink lasts nicely, and the printheads don't dry out as easily as my previous HP printer. I like the web interface for it, and the remote printing feature. Haven't tried the fax, but that's a neat feature to have for such an affordable machine. Print-head cleaning and print-head alignment is the best I've seen, so clearly a good amount of engineering went into this. Not sure how good more recent models of EPSON printers are, but hopefully they're building on the positives from model. I realise that some people may have issues with their 3640 machine, but I've been very lucky, and I've enjoyed it enough that I've come here specifically to give you my experience. Bad machines ought to receive bad reviews, but I also strongly believe that if something is reliable and efficient, it also needs to be communicated.

Excellent all-round printer and scanner – I'm not sure why there's so much hate for this printer - we've never had a problem with ours. Firstly, contrary to popular opinion, it doesn't force you to use Epson cartridges - I've only ever bought imitation ones from InkStation online, and have never had a problem. anyway. They last quite a while (at least several months for the smaller colour ones), have good quality and they're cheap as chips.

The double-sided scanning and printing are very handy, even though it does take a few seconds flip the page over in between scanning front and back. Scan quality for both colour and grayscale is quite good. Love the huge paper drawer capacity as well - can hold a whole ream of paper at once. Never had serious connection issues with the printer either, and print and scan wirelessly. This has been the best printer we've owned.

Excellent Little Printer - Buy a cheap CISS and save big $$$$ – I purchased this printer about a year ago and it have performed marvelously. great quality using default settings - but good enough for my document storage needs. The automatic feed on the scanner saves me time. One of the first things I did was go out and buy a CISS (continuous ink supply system) - for the cost one set of cartridges I got the system AND the equivent of 10 refills for each colour (ie about 40 cartridges). Works perfectly and saves me a TON of money (approx 5% of cost of using OEM ink). IF using a CISS the printer has the annoying habit of telling you the cartridge is empty (printer obviously has no sensor.. just works on pages printed) and once every 4-5 hours of continuous use may come up with a 'cartridge not recognoised' error. Minor issues for the $ the CISS saves me and the quality of the printer.

Absolutely rubbish – Horrendous connectivity with my Dell XPS, and HP laptop before this one, constant errors, most recent stating a non existent paper jam?? Cheap Workhorse – I use this for 3 homeschooling kids, so we print a lot on regular basis. After 3 years, it finally gives up. For the price paid and amount of usage, I was expecting 2-3yrs. Worst printer I've ever owned – Constant issues with this unit. Terrible printing, constant error messages and it sucks up ink. I definitely will not purchase an Epson again. process for printing something would take about an hour and a half. I regret smashing it, as it damaged my floor, but I am VERY glad to not have to deal with this product any more.

Horrible printer – This printer is the worst. I'd be better off not owning one. I keep thinking it will magically fix itself. Try as I might, I can't fix it. We've tried everything and everything that prints out is still illegible. Worst.

Clog central! – Bought a little over a year ago and moved so did not use for a few months. Since starting it up and replacing inks it will not ever print right again. No matter how many cleanings or new inks. Crap machine and will be going in the bin.

Good feature set but poor print quality after 1-2 years of intermittent use – Have had this printer for almost 2 years now but the print quality has reduced and is almost unusable now. Have tried constant cleaning of the printer head and replaced ink cartridges with no luck.

A rip off piece of – Bought from officeworks- print quality is 3/10 but then got worse as printer head kept blocking. Spent hours running head cleaning wasting time. officeworks bondi junction whom I bought it from - They are morons when it comes to customer service who refer you to Epson who do Zero- Zilch. Im off to buy a competitors printer.

Absolute garbage and terrible customer service – I took the first printer back within 24 hours of buying it as I could not get the cartridges to align properly. I should have left it at that! who ran all the ''usual'' tests on it, told me it was irreparable but out of warranty, and took it off me to recycle. They said I should take it up with Epson. Epson customer service said that I could take it to an approve repairer (nearest one 300km away) but they would not pay. They said that I should but a new one. I recounted all the trouble I had had with the cartridges and they said that as the printer was 13 months old there would be no offer from them of help. If you buy an Epson printer, prepare to take it back and make sure you do so anyway within 11 months. It WILL make your life miserable.

Piece of junk printer don't buy it, its the biggest waste of money – Print heads need cleaning every time, spent all the ink doing this mostly, waste of time to clean print heads every time prior to using this machine. Epson, never again. Would not recommend this machine at all.

Only Lasted 2 Years – This printer has had a history of having to clean the print head and when done so still not up to standard. Recently, received an error code of 0X97. No Good For General User – I have had this printer for 2 years but it has only worked for 1. It worked fine (not awsome) while I was studying and using it daily but when this dropped off to once or twice a week the quality dropped off quickly. have had it cleaned out twice but now the tech I use tells me the print head probably needs replacement as it will no longer draw ink even though the jets are clear. This is all too costly and the printer is now useless to me. It still scans ok. I feel like I have wasted my money. This is my third printer in ten years and first Epsom. I will not buy another one. The print quality was not noticeably better than others I have had. The colour printing was fine but not exceptional. I expect better reliability given the depth of the market. The two star rating is because it did print black and white text ok. I got around 2500 pages printed over 1 year. More plastic and electrical junk for the world's ever increasing pile. Very disappointing.

Very poor quality completely stopped working after jus 22 months – Good features but very poor quality. and cannot print. It gives me smudgy wavy lines between lines that print fine. You cannot print anything if any color is low. Worst printer I have ever owned.

So many problems until it finally quit, not covered under warranty – We were able to get this printer replaced once due to it's failure but the second one continued with the same issues until it stopped working altogether and was not covered under any warranty even though it only lasted 5 months. Problems: Claims to be wireless but constantly disconnecting from computers at work, employees have to restart printer and computers to reconnect which interrupts workflow. Scanning takes at least 2 tries for it to read correctly, first scan will be corrupted. Jams frequently. Printing takes a long time when it doesn't need to be restarted. It's annoying needing full color cartridges even though only B&W printing is needed. Finally the error code that ended it all was 0x97, no trouble shooting could fix it and customer service didn't even try, just said not covered and good luck. Horrible printer, service, and company.

Doesn;t print colour well – The printer is probably three years old now - it gets light use as we use a photocopier for large runs. It is constantly needing the heads cleaned and realigned. I found it economical in regard to ink at the start but now I can't print copies good enough to use in a work situation. This is the worst printer we ever bought. I will never buy another Epson printer again. Just need to – This printer is consistently bad. I tried everything. Cleaned and cleaned the head many times with no positive results. The vertical and horizontal alignments, the print head nozzle pattern all show a terrible printing result. The print head clogs up and you get a code 0x97 stopping everything.

Googled cures for this and tried all the suggested cures such as flushing the print head with cleaner etc. Didn't work. It's a common flaw with this machine refer Google.

Mine's for the tip, will give about $200 worth of unused spare cartridges to the local op shop.

Warning! Do not buy this model WF 3640 – It is not economical as it claimed to be. It sucks up ink very quickly. I bought this printer for about a month and the yellow ink would not print on first ink replacement despite using an original cartridge. I cleaned head, reset like over a hundred times already yet problem persist. Inks are costly. Never again will I buy Epson printer. Period.  Show details

and complain, and ask for more money to replace it. I have an HP at home, so I take work home to print (especially photos) at home. Then I got another client, and she has an Epson 3620. Same bad quality! Such a bad printer. It convinced me to never get an Epson. And of course, wildly expensive ink, such a rip off!! But I think all ink is expensive.

customer service, I go to kinkos to copy, print or scan.

The second time, I called because scanner was not working, I was told again delete all the setups and re-download & set-up, I did. After that, I realized that they are playing their games. The printer is called wireless, but it is not wireless at all, because it drops the wireless and asking me my wireless password multiple times. .Also, paper jam/error messages pop up, but no paper jam to retrieve. Then, I give up.

After some time, it stopped printing. Then, I rarely used it only to copy, but it stopped copying. After, I replaced the expensive inks and tried to copy, the copy produces blank white paper. I called EPSON, picked up after 30 minutes. Tried to clean the nozzle or print head, but not successful.

Please do not wast your money and time, do not buy EPSON product.

review to stop others making the same mistake.

I purchased this printer a year ago (for personal and university use) and have hardly used it because the print quality is so poor. The black prints as more of a dark grey colour and has the sharpness of an old typewriter. The few times I have printed in colour, the colours have been very washed out in appearance. This is all with the use of high-quality A4 paper. Due to such poor print quality, I have had to do my printing at work or university, something that I intended to avoid with the purchase of this printer.

The scanning function is extremely slow most of the time, at times scanning a couple of pages through the document feeder (one of the primary features I bought this printer for) has taken over an hour!! I have played around with the settings on the Epson scan software (also very poorly designed & pixilated in appearance) to try and improve the speed of the scanning but have given up because it has not improved very much.

I haven't even bothered looking at the prices for ink refills yet, as I don't know if it's even worth replacing the ink. I would probably be better off buying a new printer, and absolutely not another Epson. It also really annoys me because myself and my family have had printers made by other brands that have lasted for many years and from an environmental standpoint, it is extremely irresponsible and unethical to mass produce and sell such a poor quality product that burns through ink and is only designed to last a short period of time.

I hope this review helps people avoid purchasing this printer.
