It was OK but only lasted a couple of years. It stopped saving the recordings in the last few months before total failure. Value for money is not great after having to pay extra for an electrician to wire it up. Out of the box AI detection worked to an extent but gave LOTS of false alarms - especially on a windy day. only a couple of instances of picking up a wasp or spider web as a human. Night vision was decent. Setting custom detection zones was easy and worked well. The built-in local storage function is very handy but it would benefit from being able to add your own SD card. I wouldn't buy this one again, it's a bit outdated and overpriced. But I would certainly consider it if Eufy release an upgraded model.

Illuminate Your Security: A Deep Dive into the Eufy Security Floodlight Cam E 2K – As a parent, ensuring the safety of my home while keeping an eye on my little ones is a top priority. After installing the Eufy Security Floodlight Cam E 2K, I was excited about its potential to enhance our security system. While it offers impressive features, my experience has been a mix of excitement and a few hiccups. Here’s my detailed review… Read more

of this camera, covering its strengths, quirks, and overall value for families.

Design and Installation The Floodlight Cam E 2K boasts a sleek and modern design that blends well with most home exteriors. The floodlight itself is bright and adjustable, providing ample illumination to deter potential intruders. Installation was relatively straightforward, although I recommend having some basic electrical knowledge if you're connecting it directly to your home wiring. Alternatively, it can be powered via an outlet, which simplifies setup for those less experienced with electrical work.

Video Quality and Performance The 2K video quality is impressive, providing crisp images that make it easy to identify any activity in your yard. However, to fully utilize features like AI detection, additional accessories are required, which can be a bit of a letdown. Setting up the camera was straightforward, but I encountered some limitations in accessing all functionalities without those extras.

AI Detection Quirks One of the standout features is the AI detection, which is meant to distinguish between humans, pets, and other objects. However, I found it amusing (and a bit frustrating) when the camera mistook spider webs and my daughter’s toy car for human activity. While it’s nice to have alerts, constant notifications for non-threatening movements can become overwhelming.

Reliability Issues In my experience, the camera has had some reliability issues. At one point, the front camera stopped functioning for a few days, which left me anxious about our security. Thankfully, it resolved itself without any intervention. However, the uncertainty during that period made me question its dependability.

Floodlight Performance The floodlight function is powerful and effective. It can be set to activate on motion, ensuring that your outdoor spaces are well-lit when needed. This feature not only enhances security but also improves visibility for outdoor activities at night. However, the sensitivity settings require some fine-tuning to prevent it from activating for passing cars or animals.

User Experience and App Integration The Eufy Security app is user-friendly, allowing for easy access to live feeds and recorded footage. Notifications come promptly, which is essential for keeping tabs on our property. That said, the need for additional accessories to unlock the full potential of the system is a drawback, especially for those looking for an all-in-one solution.

Overall Value In terms of value, the Eufy Security Floodlight Cam E 2K offers a compelling mix of features, though it comes with some caveats. The initial investment is reasonable, especially considering the camera's quality and capabilities. However, the need for additional accessories to unlock its full potential may deter some buyers.

Overall, the Eufy Security Floodlight Cam E 2K offers solid video quality and some innovative features. It provides a layer of reassurance for busy parents like me, but the requirement for extra accessories to fully utilize its capabilities is a downside. Additionally, the occasional misidentification of harmless objects can be entertaining yet annoying. If you're looking for a security camera that blends style with function and can keep an eye on your yard (and perhaps your child’s toys), it may be worth considering—but be prepared for a few quirks along the way.

Pros and Cons

Pros: High-Quality Video: 2K resolution provides clear and detailed images. Bright Floodlight: Adjustable lighting enhances visibility and security. User-Friendly App: Easy access to live feeds and notifications. AI Detection: Designed to differentiate between humans and objects, adding an extra layer of security.

Cons: Additional Accessories Required: Many features, like full AI detection, require extra purchases. False Alerts: Misidentification of objects (like spider webs and toys) can lead to unnecessary notifications. Reliability Issues: Temporary loss of functionality raised concerns about dependability. Limited Out-of-the-Box Features: Some capabilities are restricted without further investment.

Great product but short lived – So this is my second Eufy 2k floodlight cam... While I do like it, it does have some negatives. The first one I purchased back in 2022, unfortunately ended up getting water ingress and stopped detecting after 18 months. This was a little disappointing as it is an outdoor camera. It has never been hosed or had direct water at it, however I do live… Read more

in FNQ and we get ALOT of rain. Still I would have thought it would last longer than 18 months. This is outside the warranty period so not much I can do.

I ended up buying a replacement one as besides the short life, I really liked the camera and the job it did. The main thing I like about this one is that it is a stand alone fully functioning unit. While it does need to be wired up, I am an electrician so this wasn't an issue for me. It doesn't need any ongoing subscription unlike alot of the competitors, and as a stand alone unit it doesn't need a home base or any other storage system, it stores the events locally on the camera.

It has great night vision and can be set up so that when it detects movement it turns the floodlights on and also records the event which was just what I needed for my application.

The eufy app is easy to use and the camera itself is very easy to set up. My parents have Swann and the Eufy software at least seems leagues ahead of Swann.

Great camera, just don't expect it to last too long if you live somewhere that rains often.
