Grass clippings go in the rear vent, no way to get them out, so I returned the mower today because I could foresee all manner of grief down the road due to this design fault. Sadly, like other users here, I had a previous Flymo for over a decade and was very happy with it. I do not recommend this product. Show details

Difficulty clean under cover of Flymo 360 – Unable to clean filter. No way to open cover unless removing screws underneath. This was a mission and I gave up resorting to poking around and using a vacuum cleaner. Other older models have a screw on top of the cover to remove the cover. Don't the company realise this flaw?? Show details

Does not fly without using spacers. It just sits on the ground making mowing more difficult.

Cuts grass well but the motor cuts out too – I also bought this mower because I used to cut the lawn with one when I was a kid. I don’t remember many issues with back then other than mowing over the power cable. The first one I bought cut out after 4 mins every time so I returned it for another one. The second worked fine - it does hover over the grass and it’s very light to move around.… Read more

It’s cuts the grass quite fine and evenly. It doesn’t have a catcher so it leaves the cuttings on the grass (but I knew when I bought it). At first the motor would cut out if the grass was thick or long but now it doesn’t run for more than 20 mins without cutting out, and it’s 20 mins before you can use it again, so I’ve got to get a new mower. There’s grass stuck over the fan inside which might be contributing to the cutting out but I can’t see how to get in there or get the cover off. As others have said the plastic plugs holding the handle to the mower are not up to the job by a long way also I had to put screws in to hold in place. Definitely don’t recommend because of the cutting out.

Cheap - but you get what you pay for – OK - my problem. I got a bit of a grass/weeds on my nature strip that need trimming back about every 4-6 weeks, depending on weather. Mowing people was costing me $60 a mow - but insisted on coming every 3 weeks. As I wasn't entering the nature strip of the year competition I thought get a cheap mower and do it myself when needed. Didn't want the… Read more

grief of maintenance or storage of motor mower or fuel Paid $199 at Bunnings for the Flymo 300

Wasn't expecting much but thought - all I need is 4 mows and I'm in front.

Out of the box - put a few bits together and you're on your way - 10-15 minutes.

Ease of use - not as easy as you'd think to move this thing around. It doesn't 'float' like the name suggests, instead, you sort of drag it around. I eventually found pulling it behind me was easiest. You'd wear yourself out trying to push it and there's no benefit.

Quality of 'cut' - disappointed. Took me a while to realise that, unlike a motor mower, the actual cutting blades are on the outside of a plate that joins the spinning thing holding the blades to the motor so the 'cut' happens as the mower moves into the grass or away from it, not when it's over it. And the blades are only about 100mm long.

Conclusion. After 1 go, I look at the result and the strip is mowed so it did the job barring one or two bits I can't be bothered going over again because effort/reward isn't there.

If this was a lawn I wanted to look good - this is not for you.

Efficiency of mower - not very good, IMO. It's quite happy to go over grass tufts which appear out the other side meaning you have to go over them again and again until they're gone.

But ... I just saved $60 doing this myself.

3 more mows to go - but I'll not be doing them until I absolutely have to as the whole experience was somewhat mediocre.

Not impressed – I owned an earler Flymo for about a decade, until the whole blade assembly dropped off the motor. It was pretty good until then, so I decided to get another - the SimpliGlide 300 - in October 2021. I agree with Chris that it is shoddy. As he says, the connection of the handle to the body is very poor: I had to get Flymo to send me new plastic lugs… Read more

and then use a screw to stop them pulling out. The front trim just came off after a couple of months. The air intake pulls grass clippings, dry leaves etc into the interior of the mower, through a grill, and the only way I can see to get them out is poking a narrow stick in and pulling it out, laboriously. There is no way I can see of removing to top to get it out easily. It does hover OK on our relatively flat grass, but the cut isn't as good as the old one.

I do not recommend the Flymo mower under any circumstances – This would be a good mower - if you wanted to mow flat concrete. If you want to mow grass then forget it. I purchased this mower in January 2022 and I based my decision on the fact that I had owned one of these mowers about 35 years ago. That mower was good for longer grass, rough surfaces and quite steep hillsides. This mower is cheap in… Read more

construction, under powered (despite being the 1800W model), hardly hovers at all and cannot handle even small slopes. My lawn is about 40 sq m, regular shape and has a drop from the top to the bottom of about 500mm. The mower does not lift off the surface and so it is difficult to operate. So much so that the plastic lugs fastening the handle to the body have already broken and I have had to wire them in place. It is tough pushing it around. Before I purchased it I had the lawn cut to about 20mm by my contractor. I tried the Flymo on the 10mm setting, then the 20mm grass height setting and finally the 30mm grass height setting. It barely copes on the 30mm setting because of the difficulty in getting to a hover. I regret purchasing this mower and I would like to sell it. However that would be doing a disservice to the next person so I will have to write off my $250 and go buy a petrol rotary mower. After all the lawns have to me mown and a Flymo certainly cannot do even a half way reasonable job.
