Estate leather arm chair is the worst!! – Don’t ever purchase the estate leather arm chair and ottoman from freedom!! It has completely lost its colour in 2 years of us having it. Very poor quality leather. We raised a complaint and I was told that the leather is designed to fade…..seriously! I’ve had leather sofas before- never buying anything from freedom again and I’m going straight to the ACCC to lodge a complaint!! Show details

The ongoing saga of faulty Hermitage sofas – 3 yrs of problems and repairs as Freedom refused to replace, they agreed months ago to collect the faulty sofas and deliver a Dahlia sofa we chose as a replacement. We are still waiting. Repeated phone calls to Freedom are met with polite responses that theres nothing they can do until their faulty computer system allows the release from the… Read more

warehouse. Does NO-ONE care about the customer service? Its as poor quality as the product .... Contacted HQ and got an automated message to say they would look at my issue the following Monday (almost a week later). Now going on social media again to again put the word out through multiple networks NOT to deal with Freedom Furniture.

Hermitage 3 seater – Beautiful sofa premium quality was purchased almost 2 years ago the leather is thirsty so we have put numerous leather treatments on and now we are happy with the leather soft and plush. It took a bit of up keep and time and effort working leather with treatment every month but its well worth it now! Happy with my purchase and get complemented by anyone who sits on my couch thanks freedom.  Show details

Avoid Freedom Furniture – I’ve had the three seater and two seater for a couple of years now. Beautiful pieces when new but the test of time has revealed the furniture is of low quality. Both pieces sag and look overly worn. The three seater has a cushion with the coating peeling off the size of a football, so much for the description suggesting high quality imported… Read more

natural grain leather/semi aniline leather. What good is that when there is a coating that’ll peel and there’s little you can do to repair the look.

Also other parts are beginning to discolour in blotchy patches that could best be described as looking like an infection.

Funny enough the rear of the sofa which is the only part that sees sunlight looks brand spanking new.

Furniture is not something that should be replaced so frequently if you ask me, sadly that’s exactly the experience I now expect from Freedom Furniture.

The sofa that sags – Within a few months after purchasing my hermitage sofa it began to sag with the result that one end was lower than the other. Freedom sent two repair guys who restuffed it but a few months later the sag returned. The same guys came back and once again put more stuffing in it. Once again the sag has returned. Definitely would never have bought it had I known what I was in for.  Show details

(77) and have no kids in the house .WE also have another couch in the house not leather but still in good condition after 40 years.

I would not buy from FREEDOM again as they are selling an inferior product at a premium price.

We were told that it was genuine leather and made in Australia.(Hermitage)

they stated that the product has been discontinued but they are still selling it in cairns.

Cant believe they are still selling this rubbish at freedom

Sofas sagging, leather stretching and stitching – We had problems with one of our two x 2-seater lounges within a few months of purchase. Freedom sent out a contractor to provide a report. They insisted it could be repaired satisfactorily and the contractor returned, removed the centre of the sofa, restitched and returned it within 2 weeks. However less than 6 months after repair the same… Read more

problem has recurred. We are approaching Freedom to replace these expensive sofas with a better quality product.

June 29th 2017 Update: The product has NOT been discontinued!

These sofas are now being sold under another name 'Estate'. They are identical in structure (the problem with the sagging is insufficient support in the centre of the sofas) and the leather looks the same. Store staff confirm it's the same sofa.

Dates are incorrect (apologies). The repaired area split again after weeks not months. We are pursuing Freedom for replacement.

Poor Quality – Purchased 2 Heritage 2 seaters from Freedom and within a year noticed the colour on the seating area of both of them going patchy. After trying for 1 year for them do something, Freedom finally agreed to send someone out. They told me it was a fault in the processing of the leather. They were repaired. But 1 year after can see the same thing… Read more

happening again. I brought these two couches, with the money I was refunded by Freedom, for two, 2 seaters in leather, that I had purchased previously. The leather on these was peeling . These ones were not from the Heritage range. I will never purchase from Freedom again. Customer service shocking, products expensive and poor quality.

Peeling leather after three years – After three years our leather is peeling. Apparently, you can't sit on Freedom leather unless you are fully clothed!!! Natural skin oil will cause the leather to peel. We have two other 30 year old leather couches and this did not happen. What a disgrace. All Freedom leather furniture should come with a warning, Please don't allow skin to… Read more

Sagging 3 seater – I bought 2 three seaters and 2 armchairs. I have had them for less than 7 months and the 3 seaters are sagging in the middle. For the amount of money I paid for these couches to say I am less than happy would be an understatement. There are only 2 of us living at home, so haven't been over used, just poorly made. LOVE IT! – OK, here is the thing, after i brought the three and two seater lounges i read these reviews and was so worried I had made a huge mistake. Well, im not sure what their issues are. yes, the leather does stretch, but no more than you would expect from a leather lounge. I love it even more now we have had our lounge for over six months. Its soft,… Read more ·  1

comfortable, large, and great for my back! I didnt even realize my old lounge was messing with my back until i got this one. It has charm and character and I dont regret my purchase for a minute. If you are after a classic then dont go past this one. Just think, this is one of their best sellers, they sell thousands of them. But its always the unhappy customers that post reviews. Thats why i wanted to share our experience.

Total Rubbish – Two weeks after getting our sofa's (3+2 seaters) the leather was stretching badly on the cushion I like to sit on. I would like to point out that I only spend a few days a week at home because of work so it's not like I spend all week sitting around. Clearly, the stuffing in these seats is just not up to a decent standard. Subsequently, most of… Read more

the cushions are now partially stretched.

I specifically asked if this lounge was full leather and was assured that it was. I really can't see how this would be the case. I am thinking it's only leather veneer, something that lounge retailers don't like to admit to.

This is what we get for wanting cheap imported stuff. I'll be getting my money back and spending a little more for something produced here. Interestingly, noting one of the other reviewers comments concerning the weak frame, ours came with a central 'foot' to brace the frame. While I commend Freedom for making the change, it doesn't mitigate the fact that the frame is that bad it needs to be reinforced. It's essentially an admission of a second rate product.

After lodging a complaint, Freedom sent out a third party specialist to have a look. I managed to contact the guy but neither he, nor Freedom would allow me to read his report. What he did admit to was that the cushions are of inferior construction and that he would make them differently. Freedom refused to admit that the lounge was faulty in any way and directed me to their company policy, which it turns out they didn't actually understand.

Good luck trying to get Freedom to refund you or replace faulty items. I'll never deal with them again.

Great looking, comfortable sofa – We have a 3 seater and haven't had any issue with it. It is very comfortable and looks great in our living room. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Deteriorated after 2 yrs 6 months – We have the 4 seater, 2 seater and Armchair and 4 teens in our household who use the lounge regularly. This lounge looks stunning and seemed to be high quality in the showroom, particularly the leather. However, within 2 years it was sagging badly on all but one seat base and the back supports did not stand the the of time either. Within 1… Read more

year, the leather started to lose its coating and was peeling in some sections. So, I can't recommend it unfortunately, especially if you have a family who use it 24/7.

I can however say that Freedom is doing the right thing by us. They sent out a leather contractor to inspect the lounge, and he wrote an extensive report indicating that it has many manufacturing issues. We had an extended warranty and Freedom is replacing it after 2 yr 6 months. We will probably opt for a store credit and a different lounge. Shame because I really liked the look of this lounge.

Can anyone recommend

Freedom - Terrible Customer service – We ordered our modular which took 5 months to come. When it did finally arrive the leather was not matching due to different manufacture dates on sections of the modular and the quality of leather on 3 sections out of 4 was far inferior to what was seen on display instore. There were obvious patches in the leather about the size of a 20c coin. I… Read more

contacted Freedom within 2 hours of delivery and was told to complete a form and the complaint would be looked at! It was only upon contacting head office, that a replacement was ordered which came within a week. The replacement came and it too was an inferior quality leather to that on display instore. I refused to accept it and sent it back on the truck only to be told it is discontinued and cannot be replaced. We have been using the original mismatch lounge for 2 weeks and the leather is already starting to sag. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I will be getting a refund from Freedom (I bet they don't refund the interest of $4500 for the 6 months). I spent over $6000 and bought dinning chairs that matched. Now I will need to attempt to find a lounge elsewhere to match them. Looks good, quality is terrible, customer service even worse.

Terrible product and terrible customer service – We have had our couch for less than a year, and it is already sagging with peeling and faded leather in areas. We have contacted Freedom, and they have said that there is absolutely nothing they can do about it while being rude and unsympathetic. DO NOT buy these couches if you want them to last longer than 12 months. I would give them no rating if that was possible.

hermitage 2 seater – Lovely looking sofa but......the sofa has stretched so much you could reupholster another chair with the excess. This sofa is in a holiday apartment. Visiting 4 times in 2-5 years-trouble. 9 buttons missing 1st time-next 3-next 4.-next 1. Now that we are out of warranty-freedom will not send me any more buttons. Very disappointing. belin

Love the look, it's comfy but poor quality – We have 2 armchairs and a 3 seater. The 3 seater frame cracked and sagged across the middle within a month! As my husband used to be an upholster he decided to do the repair himself. He was surprised and disappointed to see the flimsy cheap materials used. The timber frame had a knot right the middle under the centre cushion, it was never going… Read more

I love our hermitage sofas – Our sofas are 7 months old. We looked far and wide, and I found the hermitage the most comfortable (i had a back issue at the time and the hermitage was the only one that felt good when I sat down). The only issue was the colour - I didn't want brown. However, after looking through umpteen shops all over Sydney, we kept coming back to Freedom. … Read more

I ended up loving the colour, and particularly the feel of the leather.

We had seen aniline leather - gorgeous, but was not recommended for young children or pets (both of which we have) or daily living room use. The hermitage has the aniline look but is more hardy.

The best thing about these sofas is that the scratches add to the look. We were in Paris last year and found similar sofa (stratosphere price so obviously better leather, but the scratches were manufacturer added!). I have since seen other sofas with manufactured scratches. We have inadvertently added scratches here and there ... I freaked at the first scratch, but embraced the subsequent ones (what sort of life will you lead if you constantly have to worry about scratches on a sofa in a living room?!).

It would be great if the seats retained their plump look ... but then I guess they would not be as comfortable - they would need to be overstuffed to get and keep the shape.

I had asked Freedom if the frame was hardwood or pine ... they said hardwood but could not get confirmation of this in writing anywhere - so hopefully the frame survives. Will be happy if I get 15 years out of it :-)

All in all, I love our sofas. I don't know how they will stand the test of time - but I bought 2 sofas for the same price as one of the alternatives we were looking at - and the alternative was not nearly as comfortable. the feel of the leather, the colour, that in time the look will be uniquely ours. that they are now on sale - 2 for the price of one .. ouch! I think every March has 2 for 1 sale .. bear this in mind when choosing Freedom.

Don't buy it! – I have had my 3 seater hermitage couch for less than 7 months and it has already began to sag, some studs have come loose and frame has cracked twice in two separate locations on two separate occasions. The first crack was repaired and i was assured it wouldn't happen again. When the second crack happened i was advised that i could only have it… Read more

Had i have known that freedom furniture does not accept refunds on faulty products and only offer constant "repairs" on their already damaged goods i definitely would not have purchased from them.

I will not be shopping there again! Looks good Not a quality product, bad warranty service

Not bad – I bought this three sweater sofa in march, it does look good and it is reasonably comfortable but keep in mind that it is not an overly expensive leather couch so if you want something with a little more leather quality then you will need to spend more. It can scratch easily and it has sagged. So I'm not sure how good it will look in another… Read more

Good sofa once modified – We actually bought our sofa on eBay, almost new. The woman we bought it off had gotten a carpenter friend to add feet to the middle of the sofa to support its weight and stop it sagging. One downside has been that the studs/tacks along the bottom occasionally get loose and one or two have fallen out. Other than that, super comfy and looks great. Comfortable, stylish, easy to clean. Studs fall out occasionally. Show 2 replies

Looks great but – We have the 2 and the 3 seater and the 3 seater actually cracked and sagged in the middle within a few months. It was repaired and an extra leg added but it took ages and was inconvenient. Now the leather is starting to look patchy - certain areas are fading. And no, it's not where it sits in the sun (I know something about caring for leather… Read more
