Install the latest update a the type in botany road matraville an have a look at the route. It used to be right but since the latest update it’s not a the route it suggests is absolutely ridiculous .one would think they would take more care especially in places like the port of Sydney and major transport hubs for heavy vehicle. Totally unimpressed. Show details
The Wrong choice – I have found way to many challenges with the Garmin Dezl. Information on road load ratings are often wrong, resulting in fines. Many bridge ratings have not been updated, taking you on an extra 100km trip. The information for heavy vehicles is just not accurate. E.g. The Eunony bridge at Wagga to by pass the town. This bridge is a road train rate… Read more
100T road. The Garmin Dezl says its 6T. Byrnes Road Bomen is again a ROAD TRAIN Rated road, however, Garmin will not allow at 68T B-Double. This is the preferred route of the NHVR. The maps are out dated. Jugiong is a B-Double rated road, Garmin says there is a 100m portion of the road that is not, so takes you on hill top road which is dirt, NOT B-Double rated and DANGEROUS. This product is DANGEROUS to the operator, you should not buy it
It was a waste of money – The alert’s are the only good thing about this unit . It will get you lost when you put in oversize dimensions. Weight limits are inaccurate. The blue tooth speaker is very inaudible even with the engine off . Show details
Sadly lacking – As a heavy vehicle GPS it is near on useless,I have $400 worth of fines from " no trucks allowed" roads that the GPS knows nothing about, then get on the Ipswich motorway and it says no trucks allowed. It will lead you into streets the truck won't even fit in.Its never heard of heavy vehicle bypass's and will lead you through the main street of towns, don't go outback,it hasn't got a clue. Waste of money – Promoted features aren't available in Australia, Garmin can't or won't say why. Apart from the the unavailable features the device froze upon turning off and restarting even more features were not working. The live traffic just stopped, track and trace stopped, basically the only thing it does is navigation and it doesn't do that very well Show details
I agree with the others Do Not Buy! – Maps are not accurate! Example Moorefeilds Rd Roselands https://goo.gl/maps/z39bhbuGZQc3uUPj9 there is a 3T load limit on the device that is not there for real... so device adds another 5Klms onto you trip to diverts around it. There are lots of street that are NOT Residential that this device will not use even though they are Not Weight limited… Read more
streets. This device doesn't know How to measure distance as you can select shortest route but it doesn't do that. It will stick to main roads. I think the developer of this software have been bound by government conditions.... Example 1.There are roads you can use....2. There are roads trucks cannot use... and then there are the 3.weight restricted roads.... So this device will only set up routes using 1. Not 2 and 3 and even then it could take you 2 main roads away instead of the closest main road. When I change direction I could be 200 mtrs away before this device adjusts and it will continue to get me back to original route even though my direction is shorter with no weight restriction. This is not local knowledge, it's about distance... I rang GAMIN Sydney AU and spoke to a lovely young lady and was told to reset the device and update the software and maps.. It didn't make any difference. I now only use this device as a guide. Live traffic doesn't work that well because it needs other Garmin devices on the the road. So Garmin devices must not be selling that well.....
Looses Signal strength in Sydney City all the time so when you do have it you have to look ahead as far as you can....
Well constructed easy to use and setup.
Garmin 780 truck – This thing is utter crap. I tried to use it today was hope less i ended up having to resort back to Google maps on my phone. Dont waste ure money like i did Show details
Don't count on it – Put fancy features (and there a lot of them) aside 780 can get you into trouble. I used it in 60 t plus B-Double (it only goes to 60 t despite in OZ we go to 62,5 t and higher) Despite latest updates it seem to navigate through areas where trucks this big shouldn't be, it doesn't use truck routes, it is constantly "confused", it will guide you… Read more
through Calder by-pass heading up but will send through entire Bendigo heading back for some reason.
Garmin has Francis/Whitehall streets( heavy truck route) in Yarraville rated at 4,5 ton....
After taking numerous screen shots and sending them to their "get a clue" team, still waiting for a answer. I am afraid there will not be one for a while.
I guess the difference between the truck and car GPS for Garmin is a type of moving symbol on the map..
Swapped this fancy piece of junk for a Tom Tom 620 pro...At least this one sees truck as a truck and has insanely good live traffic...
