Garmin GPS 12

OK – This unit is showing its age and I'd be surprised if you could buy one of these models new. The software and user interface are similar to many of the modern field units. The modern GPS units have come leaps and bounds ahead of this one in terms of functionality, features, screen and data connections but I've still kept mine as a second unit. Works best with an external antennae. Very durable and quite compact

Uses AA batteries

The usual good navigation, tracking and waypoint features that Garmin uses (although only basic in this model) Fairly heavy

Really needs an external antennae to improve the signal reception
