Garmin nüvi 3790T

Unfathomable idiotic device – I am a fire-fighter, we use Garmin GPS Navigators to get to addresses we are not familiar with. Recently we asked two separate Garmin Nuvi's (with latest updated maps) to navigate to a street address in a nearby town and neither could locate the street let alone the address. The street in question has been around for at least 5 years, so not a new… Read more
suburb. This situation is not acceptable Garmin!. On returning to the station and the house being completely lost, I decided to try the Navigon Navigator (that comes free on my Samsung Galaxy S4) to see if it knew where the street in question was. "It Did!" and would have taken us straight there and possibly saved the house. Strange thing is, "Navigon" is a "Garmin" product and a very good one. Tell me Garmin, why is it, your after thought navigation package installed on Smartphones can find a +5 year established street, when your dedicated Nuvi Navigator cannot? Unacceptable Garmin - Unacceptable! It looks good It cannot find an address that the phone installed software can. Just buy a smartphone and use that instead.
It looks good but don't believe the hype – Here is a letter I wrote to Garmin, I think you will get the picture: I 'Upgraded' from a TomTom to a 3790T about a year ago and I am sorry to say it was a huge mistake. The 3790T may look sexy but that is where it ends. Inputting an address can be guesswork if I do not type in the exact suburb that is in the database of the Garmin, the… Read more
traffic updates just don't work and I am rarely taken on the shortest route. I was sold the top-of-the-line product as a 'learning' product but it has not learnt a thing. I used a Garmin when I traveled in the states and it was a pleasure to use, but here in Aus it is not so good (not my exact words).
It constantly tells me that there are traffic delays (Main road St. Albans for example) even when the road is desolate.
I hate my Garmin, sure it looks sexy but if it can't get me from A to B in the shortest time possible then it cant even do its main (only?) function!
It avoids main freeways (and not because I have 'avoid tolls' on) and when I take the freeway I can see the time drop by 10 minutes as it recalculates.
It also calculates 'time to destination' without calculating traffic or traffic lights, using this in a city means that it is pathetic.
I hate it. looks great expensive and obviously 'rushed' into the Australian market.
