Works great but maps cost a fortune!!! – Bought a nuvi in Canada and the North America maps that it came with were fantastic. We never got lost, was very reliable and accurate. It came with free map updates which were fantastic! However, we have now moved to Australia and the cost to buy Australia and NZ maps are $180, and that doesn't even include map updates!!! So every year or so,… Read more

you have to pay that again to get updated maps! The device when we bought it was only $160 and that included lifetime maps and traffic updates. How can it cost more to buy the maps separately than to buy a new GPS unit.

However, if you are not planning on moving or using it in any other country, I would recommend this product. Easy to use. Maps for new countries cost more than the device is worth!

On my 3rd unit now after two replacements – On my 3rd unit now after two replacements, terrible support and wasted so much of my time , just not worth it. after a while of using it the map won't be displayed and it will leave me with a blank screen with the route displayed in between. My Worst GPS experience ever... On to my third one now , Promised life time map update Didn't deliver on the promise.

Old Garmin replaced with higher end model the 2360LT – I have owned a Garmin 2350 since 2011/11 which experienced screen issues on a long trip south - specifically pixel drop out on the screen which can happen to anything these days with a screen. So the retailer was kind enough to replace the old unit with the higher spec Garmin 2360LT. So far the Garmin 2360LT is just about the same as the older… Read more ·  2

2350 in relation to image, size, and weight.

The unit has some benefits!

1) Bluetooth connection for your phone to act as a hands-free - I dont use a phone at all in the car, so I haven't tried it and nor will I...

2) Live Traffic updates which will 'hopefully' enable you to get around traffic hazards and veritable parking lot situations while on the M1 which we get all the time! I haven't tried it yet, however I am a little dubious about how many actual work sites and road workers will update their details so that Garmin can receive the signals for the updates???

3) Voice activation of the unit - which allow's you to customise a particular word sentence 'Hello Nuvi' and the unit responds by asking you what you would like to do (questions on the screen) - you select one of these and you go from there. I found that this is hit and miss with the radio playing, noisy cars driving past or conversation from other occupants in the car, and you really need the window's up for it to be truly effective!

4) Pedestrian mode - which I really like as it allows you to use the GPS in portrait mode, somewhat like a iPhone guise as the screen changes from landscape to portrate as you tilt it the other way. This mode allows you to see exactly where you're walking and the 2360LT has a electronic compass built in which allows for quick navigation rather than relying on satellites where poor view of the sky may exist! Relying on satellites and good view of the sky in a city is surely going to get you lost - trust me so this feature will be handy for sure especially when travelling overseas with added maps!!!

The drawbacks of the 2360LT are...

1) There is no options to avoid / warn for toll bridges, unpaved roads or ferries like the 2350 GPS, so that is a notable loss in this unit! Sometimes I like to take a ferry, but I would like to avoid a Toll bridge - there is no middle ground at all in this unit so expect whatever comes in your journey and make sure you have a toll tag for that just in case moment!

2)There is no power management options which is still a real drag compared to my old Navman F10, which allowed you to customise the unit, as to how it was to turn off after an amount of inactivity or stand still etc.

3) No included GPS bag, sleeve or protection for the 2360LT at the retailer? All they had was the small sleeve for the tiny Garmin GPS's which is a shame - however using the Case Logic Hard Drive hard case works really well! Just dont expect that the cable is going to fit at all...

4)The cable is double wide and there is a live traffic update node on the cable near the window attachment. I found that the cable is hugely fiddly and hard to rout due to the size and the thickness of it, and hard to manage with Velcro cable management ties due to the size of the folded cable. The window arm attachment is as solid as they get and is easily attached and manoeuvred, also the Garmin is easily attached and removed - however requires you to clip it on. I would have liked to see something like Tom Tom's attachment strategy with magnets rather than forceful clips which can throw out your favourite viewing angle.

The unit is easily updated and connection with Garmins online applications are hit and miss, where I have had to call and trouble shoot this unit but not the old unit - so I'm unsure whether it had anything to do with the old units registration (lifetime map updates) on my laptop?

Either which way, I'm happy with the replacement and its typical of Garmin GPS's, simple to use, good quality and with fingers crossed it'll last for the next few years...

P.s. I did get the extended warranty this time round - its worth the extra $20 for the peace of mind!!! Typical Garmin, easy to use, features - live traffic updates, bluetooth etc. Nill so far - possibly slightly slower touch wise than the Garmin 2350, however did get the extended warranty this time round!!!

Very pleased with purchase – Bought this GPS so I wouldn't get lost. Very pleased with its performance. Very useful to have bluetooth hands free built in as well for mobile phone only negative has been maps are expensive to update and they don't include all new roads in country areas (I think this may be a failing of most units currently on the market). I really like the… Read more

Very disappointing – I bought this GPS based on the following features: - Lifetime map and traffic updates. - Light and clear display - Reasonable online reviews - Great price. I was able to purchase this unit for $220. Unfortunately, I have found this GPS hard to live with. Took this unit on our road trip from Melbourne to Sydney and Canberra. It got us to our… Read more

destination relatively easily. However, it is the navigating around the Sydney streets that this GPS unit has been found wanting.

During the two week road trip we made the following observations flaws:

1. Voice command feature is extremely flawed. It other doesn't activate when you want it, or gets activated when you don't. This feature just doesn't work.

2. No option to have an overview of the entire journey. It only tells you to the next turn. We got caught out a number of times when you have to make turns in quick succession.

3. No option to avoid "toll" ways.

4. Some suggested routes are the "long" way. For example, we had a map of Canberra. The suggested route was the opposite direction as to what we would have chosen when planning the route.

5. It doesn't always show all the "Points of Interest".

6. Load times can be slow.

7. Traffic updates are not complete.

8. Speed meter under tunnels don't seem to work or be as accurate.

Note, there is bluetooth capability for this unit. It seems to work reasonably well, but I haven't used it enough to be able to categorically comment on its performance.

Initially, I was happy with the purchase as I thought I bought it for a bargain. Having used it for a couple of weeks now, I'm glad I did not pay any more for this item. This is the first GPS that I have owned, so I hate to think the performance of the "cheaper" models. Lifetime map and traffic updates. Excellent UI and menu systems. Light and clear display. Lane Guidance. Voice command is flawed. Calculated route can be flawed. No option to avoid tolls.
