Much better than my old navman – I have had this Garmin nuvi 3760 for 3 years now , I mastered its operation very quickly and have had no problems what so ever with any updates and use Garmin express on my laptop to update . This device has always been accurate and takes maximum 5 seconds to find the satellite . I use this device weekly and have Al Pacino's voice which adds a bit… Read more · 2
of humour while navigating I would buy another Garmin product at the bat of an eyelid ..............Rocky
Some great features but some not so great – Ok so I've had this until for over 2 years. Ive driven to sydney on multiple occasions, around the central west and central coast. This is my experience using the device. Heres the good: - Slim design with horizontal and vertical viewing options. - Mine came with free unlimited map updates, which has been great. - Lane guidance is great, it… Read more
displays how many lanes are ahead and highlights which one or multiple lanes to merge to.
- Street names are pronounced by the navigator which is kinda cool.
- Once setup the eco route displays how eco friendly you drive and has helped me drive more fuel efficiently.
- Downloadable voices and vehicles for free are a fun addition.
- Device automatically turns itself off when power is disconnected (prompts you if u want to keep device power on) and automatically turns on retaining the current route when power is reestablished.
- Device can be locked with a 4 digit passcode, this is disabled when your at home which can be setup.
- Bluetooth to phone is good.
- Display is good
- Cradle is good and holds firmly
- Trip planner is great, I've used it regularly to find out how well in advance i need to leave to arrive to a destination.
- Compared to google maps and some other gps units the arrival time is very accurate with the garmin even on long trips.
The not so good:
- This gps was quiet pricey not sure its worth as much as i paid.
- Battery life isnt great
- Came with no wall charger, optional extra.
- Fastest route, shortest route, ROUTE WITHOUT TOLLS, route without paved areas etc arnt prompted for every individual destination input. Rather they are in the settings so if you change these regularly can get annoying. ( think this is across all garmin gps devices)
- Red light cameras and fixed speed cameras have alerts, BUT the alerts are quiet and sometimes unnoticeable even with volume up high (compared to tomtom).
- Satellite search can be slow but it been no biggy.
Most of the Bad issues i have with this until seem to be how garmins software works not so much the device itself. read review read review
Not worth all that money – I have had mine for about two years and have never been happy. The first disappointment came when it told me the first time I used it that I need to update maps and when I connected it to update online, web site told me I had to pay. It often boots up like it's the first time I've turned it on, asking me to read and agree to "Terms and… Read more
Conditions" before I can proceed. Other times it gets frozen on Garmin screen or just turns off again. It's not unusual for it to take ten minutes to find satellites or not at all so I have to turn it off an back on to reboot it.
It is often quite inaccurate with directions, eg wanting me to turn right at a "no right turn", sending me down a one way the wrong way, telling me to turn into a street that has had a blocked entry for years and many times telling me to take a route on a motorway that runs west in sydney when i need to go to a destination in the south. It can't be trusted to be used only by audio as it won't always tell you that you turn is coming up and tells you as you get to it to turn. As we all know, you can't keep watching it the whole time you are driving which makes this product very unsafe.
I found it annoying that when your in the map view (looking from above) that it doesn't track your progress. Also annoying is when you touch the screen to put it in Map View it is in the most zoomed out to show your entire route
and not at the zoom size you just had in Street View. If you zoom in on Map View for more detail, then press back to Street View, then touch screen to re- enter Map View, it will go back to the zoomed out map and not back to where you had it.
The last GPS I had gave a 3D image of Street View so you could see when you were coming up on a crest of a hill or a sudden or steep decent, or even under a bridge or over pass which made it less confusing when navigating through detailed distributors. But the maps on this have your route always over the top of everything.
When using the Hands Free system, the speaker is way to soft and most often I can't hear the caller. The Blue Tooth doesn't always connect either and I need to check my phone has connected before I drive off.
And as I write this review, I have been trying to charge it as it turned of on me yesterday while it still had power through my car. It said battery was low and it was turning off. Now today I have plugged it into mains power and it came up twice with Garmin screen, went off and now I can't turn it on at all. I payed a lot of money thinking this model would be the best, but far far from it.
Don't Trust A Name Slim, Light and easy to carry. Simple on/off and back. Good voice command An unreliable electronic device.
Don't do system update unless you have a problem – I had this device almost 2 years and I basically liked it because of it's cool design which looks like a smart phone. Last weekend I attempted system update since the portal site(MyGarmin) showed me an update but the device is now stuck on Garmin logo screen. Since the device only has one year warranty my option will be to pay $189 AUD to get the device replaced. design which looks like a smart phone system update makes the device unusable
No Route Options – Haven’t had any major problems with this model, but It doesn’t have any options to choose the route. eg avoid toll rd, shortest route, fastest route ..This it’s very annoying....has anyone found these options? Sometimes it takes a long time to start up and find a signal. If you take a detour it has problems finding a new rout and you have to… Read more
start a new rout.... this is dangerous when you are driving. Easy to connect and disconnect from the cradle when leaving the vehicle
A lot of money for a lack of anything – Absolutely shocking- where should I start, well having read all the reviews by people with more money than sense I regrettably purchased this unit. Within weeks it was freezing, I had to wait a few minutes to even put my PIN into it, the plastic mounts snapped and broke, the battery life is appalling (yes, just try a journey longer than 90 minutes… Read more
unless you want all the big nasty cigarette lighter attachments if you dare) it is constantly switching itself off, which is really useful when driving and keeping both hands on the wheel, then, we of course have to go through the start up procedure again, PIN in again and so on we go; but wait not only does it pass out erratically, its sense of direction is rubbish and I feel I would have more direction with a Y shaped branch attached to my bumper to lead me to my destination.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse and with a long journey ahead of me it died!! Yes, totally packed in. Four times the price of trusty fat old TomTom but not an inch of reliability, power, sense or quality - by far the worst piece of Taiwanese rubbish I have ever had the gross misfortune to waste hard earned cash on. Save your money get a TomTom or catch a bus, but do not put this in your car unless you are very bored and feel like getting lost for the next 18 months before it packs in. How deceiving it was; disguised as an iphone, useful as a chocolate teapot.
I agree! Mine wants me to drive over cliffs or down lanes narrower than my car! It also likes to… Read more
Terrible – I bought one of these after having a good experience with an older NUVI. This one looks great but performs rubbish. The maps are out of date already and I can buy another sat nav for less than a map update. Garmin customer support sucks - they don't stand by their product and aren't prepared to do anything. The navigation frequently tells me… Read more
to exit a freeway and then get straight back on again at the same junction.
The device itself often freezes or shows just a blank screen with a purple line for the selected route.
If you want to just look at it - get one of these for sure.
If you want to use it for navigation - get something good instead. Looks Poor navigation, old maps, Garmin support sucks, unreliable software
Bad – looking good. slim but slow. it will take a couple of miutes to find signal and recaculting........ all the time. it is based on sea navigation so it is not fast and accurate as tomtom. the speed odmeter is lower than real speed so do not read the figure on its screen or you will obtain a ticket (got fine? then you got choise. hahahaaha). … Read more
really need to play with it for a while to know what it can do. overall not a bad gps. but tomtom is better even its thicker nice looking inaccurate speed odmeter. slow reaction.

Great reliable GPS that hasn't gotten me lost – I've used other GPS systems before (Navman, TomTom) and this is by far the best one. The screen is easy to read and navigate and it has great functions such as saving favourites and bluetooth. I use this most days for work as I need to quickly navigate the streets and it is always quick to calibrate and give directions. The speed odometer is… Read more
accurate and so have never had a problem with that. It was one of the more expensive ones on the market when I purchased it, but I like the slim-design which makes it easy to store, the back-up battery lasts for about 4 hours, and it came with free lifetime map updates which was one of the main reasons I decided to purchase this one.
I have been using it for about 5 months and am very happy with it. Slim-design, lifetime map updates, reliable and quick to calibrate Expensive
