Works good, but not great – I bought this unit secondhand with LM. Switching between Thailand and Norway, it handles the maps and navigation very good. Usually. But sometimes it has a hickup and leads me away from the main road to some offroad track, - and back again. The bluetooth was connected to my Samsung Galaxy S5, but hung up constantly. Now I am not using that… Read more

function any more, but go straight from the phone to the helmet.

Battery time is poor, so I have to have power supply within 40-50 minutes. Not good enough.

Updates works well, but thai maps are too expensive. They don't offer lifetime for Southeast Asia.

I had a few tips for Garmin, correcting their maps, and sent them a message. I was told to visit a website and put in this tips myself. They wanted me to do their job, in a "I am trying to be nice and tell you about a mistake in your product" from me. Not good service.

As my friends say the 590 isn't any better, I will not buy another Garmin when this ends its lifetime.

I read TomTom is better.

Map updates – The software and product are flaky. The lifetime (or any) map updates do not work. If you buy this product do not expect to be able to update it. Once your maps are too old you will have to buy a new unit to get the latest maps. Google maps are regularly updated and can even be updated over a mobile phone connection so why can't Garmin manage to… Read more

update their maps? This appears to be a deliberate marketing strategy to make us buy new units instead of cheaper map updates. Value for the money isn't there. Buy a cheap car unit and wrap it in plastic wrap - far cheaper. Designed for motorcycle use Far too expensive given that the maps cannot be updated - value for money isn't there

Major problems with Bluetooth – I have had this unit for nearly a year and have had major problems with it when connected to my Scala G4 headset. When listening to music on the media player it will intermittently cut in and out or stop completely when it does this voice for traffic directions will also stop. The only way to get it to work again is to switch the unit off and on… Read more

again sometimes repeatedly to get it to work again. Sometimes when it reconnects the quality of the sound is very poor. This is not a problem with the headset as I have tried three different headsets. This is an intermittent problem and doesn't happen every time but will happen every time on a long trip. It is dangerous to to turning he GPS on and of and going to the media player to try and get reconnection whilst riding. Garmin just keep giving me the run around and I have read on forums people have exactly the same problems as me with different types of headsets. The 665 has the same problems. If you want to use the Garmin for Bluetooth don't buy.

A fantastic GPS for bikers or drivers – The Zumo 660 is a great GPS for bikers or drivers, with some great features. On my Bike I use the Zumo hooked into my Starcom One Advance system, where it connects easily with a cable from Starcom for $60. The unit is waterproof, and comes with a bike mount made by RAM, with a cable & docking station specifically for your bike. It also comes… Read more

with a windscreen mount for the car, and a cigarette lighter charging cable.

It's fairly easy to mount on your bike if you have say wired up a car stereo before, but this is obviously dependent upon your particular bike.

When you move the unit from the bike to the car, it detects this automatically, and allows you to have separate profiles for either the car or bike. (or walking,+ others, also has a profile for 'offroad')

The map display allows you to have a few options, either more map info, or more data info (elevations etc). The map orientation can be set from North up, Track up, 3D etc.

There are a lot of other included functions that are nice to have, but not so useful like fuel range/usage, currency converter, calculator etc.

I'm not sure I will ever use these things, perhaps they are a bit of a gimmick, although I guess some people may find a real use for them.

The unit also has a phone Bluetooth hands free function, which allows you to browse your contacts, make & receive calls on screen, even do voice dialing. (voice dialing is via Siri on the iPhone 4s)

The hands free unit works great in the car at low speeds, but on the highway you may find yourself talking loudly to be heard.

(I have tested this in the car only)

The unit also plays MP3's from an internal microSD card that can be accessed via USB.

The maps are great, with both fixed & mobile speed camera locations marked, with warning sounds when you are approaching any camera or a known 'hot spot'.

The unit accurately shows your current speed, and also the posted speed limit alongside. I found the GPS speed to be within +/- 1kmh of the car/bike speedo at most times.

All in all this is a great unit for bikers or drivers.

If you are thinking about getting a GPS for your bike - make sure you check the 660 out. Great maps, Easy to use, Great phone integration, touch screen, MP3, waterproof, comes with a bike & car mount. quite expensive
