GIO Caravan Insurance

Totally Illogical – Have had my vehicles insured with GIO for many years and last year when my CIL Caravan Insurance renewal arrived which had increased substantially, I tried to obtain a quote from GIO. However, because it was stored in an undercover storage facility with other vans, despite it being fitted with a towing hitch lock and a tracking device, they would not insure it but would do so if stored on my front lawn with no security devices whatsoever. Go figure.

Above storage facility has now been sold and van is now stored at the rear of a nearby residential property (not mine) and again, they will not cover it and will only do so if stored at my home, a commercial storage facility or a caravan park.

Shop around – Just received renewal for caravan & annex insurance for $30,000 coverage from GIO. Policy was $520.00 for previous year went up to $695.95 we had made one claim on insurance. Rang RACV they gave me a multi policy discount the price is $405.00 a big difference for the same policy.
