GM Cabs

Criminals. Caught a taxi from Sydney CBD to South Coogee. No traffic but $20 more than the week before. Metre was not visible. Checked the receipt when I got home and had been picked up from the airport apparently! Contacted the company and they said that sometimes GPS state the wrong location. Hmmmm … criminals.
I boarded a GM cab near southern cross train station in Melbourne on 17 Feb 2026, to Hotel Grand Chancellor. It was a short distant, less than 10mins ride. I was surprised the fare was A$35. The driver looks and sounds with Indian accent. I suspect he did not follow the meter. Uber ride would had cost me only A$15. Since then I never take GM cab.
Overcharged. Took long route despite my directions. No assistance with luggage. Email correspondence to manager the next day was dismissed. I wont call them again. I'd rather walk.
Follow-up · $12. Charged $28. 1.5km. I small backpack & 1 shopping bag

Do not use this driver or this service at all cost. My family and I caught a cab from Melbourne airport early morning after landing from overseas. He quoted my wife a fee of well under $100 for 4 suitcases for a 17 mn can ride. We arrived home and the driver had a fee of $150. I refused to pay and only agreed to a fee of $110. He called my wife… Read more
liar and well. This driver talked non stop to distract me from realising he took the long way home. This company is a joke and should not be in business. Please take note of the driver number in the pictures. The driver and company are a joke. The driver is pathetic and has no care for customer service.
My friend and I took a cab from Northbridge to SOR. I didn't even know that independent cabs were a thing. He was given $50 CASH and was meant to adjust the amount for the fare EFT charge. This didn't occur and I didn't notice. I was still charged $90 for the trip. Have heard nothing from the company, no phone numbers, multiple emails and have now issued a charge back.
T2200 just cut me off .. nearly an accident.. then gets out of the car and starts yelling.. Asian fella .. had no idea
Rip off – Was OVER charged on a trip from the airport, reported it to fair trading. The company admitted they over charged and said they would refund but what a scam! Got nothing back. I would avoid gmtaxi at all cost., I could rate a -5 star they would definitely deserve it.
Dishonest! – Terrible experience with this cab driver. The metre showed $74.02, but he tried to cover it and charge me $99. When I refused to pay, he reset the payment tap and tried to charge me $89, claiming there was a surcharge. I refused again. In the end, he still charged me $77, saying it was for tolls. By that point, I was over it. This kind of… Read more
behaviour is unacceptable and gives a bad image to Australia. I took a photo of the metre as proof and will be reporting this incident. Dishonesty like this should not be tolerated.

I called the GM Cab company after finding the credit card receipt online with details and the hotel security cameras had the license number to NO avail, absolutely no help at all!
Do not use this company if you have a choice.
Why doesn’t Australian authorities look into their practices???
Follow-up · All avenues led to dead ends. Nothing was retrieved and I have left the country. Please use Uber or another service.

I had a driver who drove 40km in 60km zones. On arrival he quickly tuned meter off so I couldn’t see the charge but I had seen the charge of $41. He then charged me $49.87. I queried it. He said I don’t go by the meter as I waited 2 hours for a ride. I said that is not correct as I live I. Australia and you have to go off the meter. He said give… Read more
me $40 cash. I said I didn’t have $40. He then said I will give you discount and put it through for $46.80. I said that is still wrong so paid with a credit card that I knew wouldn’t work. He said if I want to go off a meter I should get an uber next time. I said I can report you. He said again, give me $40 cash. As I didn’t feel safe I went and got my husband from inside house. He gave him $40 cash but he insiated insisted on $44. My husband came back in and gave him $45 to go away. I live in Australia but feel sorry for those that don’t that get taxi drivers like this. It’s appalling. It was a gm taxipay. And the driver photo did not match the driver driving.

DO NOT USE GM TAXIS. They are dishonest and over charge me by double the recommended amount. charged me $63 for 6.2 km ride from Brisbane Airport instead of the recommended $24-$32. They were no traffic light stops and no cars on the road. Driver had no shame or integrity when I questioned him. He could not explain the double amount when I broke down the costs to him. PLEASE BE WARNED PEOPLE….DO NOT ALLOW THESE DRIVERS TO BLATANTLY RIP YOU OFF.
Domestic Airport to Haymarket.7.00pm so traffic light. Should of been a quick trip straight there. Driver took the scenic route obviously going through tolls. Estimated $30-$55 depending on traffic. Charged us pensioners $86.10. Absolutely a big rip off. There was no meter visable either.m
Overcharged approximately $30.00 from Perth Domestic Airport.Who would have thought we would need to be cautious with what taxi company to use.The reviews regarding this company & the drivers are equally to blame and why would Perth Airport allow visitors to our state and our Perth residents returning home allow this wicked behaviour continue. I have reached out to GM taxies however l have had no response
Absolute cheats overcharged me from home to airport taxi combined $53.04, airport to home $86.00 contacted the NSW taxi fare hotline, and they had to return money, and I am still waiting for it, before you catch a cab if its GM Cabs walk away, or if too late and you think it's too much refuse to pay and pay want you think, careful when paying with credit card, pay cash and what pay want you think
Horrendous. $72 ride from casino to Craigie became $89 after 50 million hidden fees. Apparently. None of these were made clear. Some sort of $5 fee for their use to post with card? Joke.
DO NOT USE!! They double your fare. What it says on the dash is not what is typed on the EFTPOS machine when you go to pay. THEFT!! Look at all reviews. This is not uncommon for them… facts… should be zero stars
I wish I read the comments on Product Review about this company before being forced to use them at Sydney Airport. took us and refused to turn on the meter and overcharged us by about $15-$20 according to the app. Lodged a complaint with thier Head Office via P2P fares but they denied the overcharge. This company is a rip off and the customer service is pathetic. Do yourself a favour, don’t use GM Cabs, you will regret it.

Terrible This mob overcharge Trying to get help online thru the website filling in the complaints form doesn't seem to work. Will go Uber next time, GM cabs will rip you off.
Terrible Service – Overcharged and Exploiting Customers! On April 4th, I took a taxi from Melbourne Airport to Craigieburn — a distance of only around 18 km — and was charged a ridiculous $72.61 by GM Taxi Pay. This is absolutely outrageous, especially when the same trip with Uber costs less than half that price. There was no traffic, no extra… Read more
stops — just a regular ride that somehow ended up costing nearly double what it should. It feels like this company is taking advantage of travelers, especially those arriving at the airport who may not be aware of local fares. What’s even worse is that they clearly don’t care about customer reviews — because they mostly operate from the airport and get a constant stream of new passengers. It seems like their strategy is to overcharge unsuspecting customers and move on to the next. This kind of practice is completely unethical and should not be allowed to continue. Authorities need to step in, investigate these companies, and hold them accountable. As customers, we deserve fairness and transparency — not to be ripped off the moment we land in a new city. Avoid this service at all costs. It’s the worst experience I’ve had with transport.
Will completely over charge you. Paid $94 for a ride that should have been no more than $55. Doors were locked so had to pay. Took me over 3 months to get a refund and only after I threatened with ACCC
Total scammers - just got charged $100 for what should’ve been a max $50 trip. Tried to put a complaint in on their website but it’s designed to fail. Driver added some trumped up toll charge and night charge. A total joke but wouldn’t budge when I argued. Never get in one of these taxis
Warning to Visitors in Sydney, Australia: My Experience with GM Cabs On March 11, 2025, I checked out of my hotel and was persuaded to take a GM cab. I had already booked a ride with DiDi (a rideshare service similar to Uber), but the hotel staff assured me that GM Cabs would cost about the same and was available immediately, so I wouldn't have… Read more
to wait.
Trusting their advice, I took the GM cab at 6:20 AM to the airport, which is 11 kilometers away. My DiDi fare was quoted at $41.00, so I expected the GM cab to cost no more than $45 at most.
Upon arriving at the airport, the meter displayed $41.95. When the driver asked if I was paying by cash or card, I chose card. To my shock, I was charged $71.25 instead.
I immediately emailed GM Cabs to report the issue, but to my dismay, they never responded.
Warning: Avoid GM Cabs when visiting Sydney. Instead, use reputable alternatives like 13cabs, DiDi, general taxis, or public transportation.
Overcharged for a trip from the Sydney domestic airport to Double Bay. No satisfaction in dealing with GM Cabs administration. Very disappointing that stealing from your customers appears to be condoned. Use an alternative provider.
Would give no stars if I could. I am still chasing a response from this company from 2022!!! No response. The receipt doesn't even show a pick up location. Just says "suburbs". My journey was 3 kms (Randwick to South Coogee) and I was charged $28.61. Didn't argue at the time because I was a woman, on my own and felt vulnerable.
Disgusted in their service in Sydney - USE UBER PEOPLE!! Refused to take 2 females to their hotel at 11.45pm on a Wednesday night in the city because the ride wasn't going to be a huge fare, three different cab companies did the same! They would rather leave 2 women who are not familiar with Sydney on the side of the street at night than take a… Read more
ride that was at least some money as nobody else had approached them the whole time we were there, so they weren't earning any fare anyway - besides that ITS LITERALLY THEIR JOB TO TAKE US!!
