I think this is a terrible site for the 50-60 age bracket for men. I was on here for 2years both subscription and non. There is lots of ghosting and fake profiles. I say the later because I believe there is a lot of married women in this age bracket who frequent this app for either a laugh or to see if they still have it. I had so many last minute… Read more

cancellations on dates or simple no shows never to be heard from again. All after long engagements via text and even phone calls. One woman text me as I was leaving to tell me her flue shot from day before was making her sick I kid you not. Men stay away from this site go to the pub have a better chance of meeting a woman there.

Hinged seemed to be okay as it was free, but, the matching program is useless. Quite often not even close, such as being matched with smokers when it's a deal breaker for you. The big negative happened today, I was banned, supposedly for breaking a term of use, which the won't say what it is. I am sure I never broke any rule without needing to… Read more

know what it might be. They pretend to have an appeals process. I appeealed, (hard to do when you don't know what you're appealing). Which was denied, again without explanation. Not sad to be off the site. But, this action was very unprofessional and I'm happy to have my name identified in this review.

Well, the app sells itself as "designed to be deleted". Little I'd known that I would be banned for no apparent reason, and when I appealed they didn't tell me the reason for the ban. Also, please note that I had Hinge X for a month, and decided to cancel my subscription before the next month was due. Disappointing experience, not to mention how inefficient the app is to get you matches, let alone dates. Show details

Hinge permanently banned my account within days for allegedly violating their Terms of Service—except I did nothing wrong. I barely used the app, sent one message to a single match, and had no inappropriate activity. Yet without warning or specifics, my account was removed. The appeal process was a joke: a canned rejection with no explanation,… Read more

no evidence, and no human review. If Hinge can’t distinguish between actual violations and harmless usage, their moderation is fundamentally broken.

This isn’t just frustrating—it’s unacceptable. Users deserve transparency, fair appeals, and respect for their time. Until Hinge fixes its arbitrary enforcement and non-existent customer support, stay away. You could be next.

Hinge: Criminals or Fraudsters? You decide… – Hinge’s tag line is “Designed to be deleted” which is what they do to legitimate user’s accounts. If you read other negative reviews, you will find that many accounts are removed without reasons provided. Hinge states that they will not provide reasons for bands even though you may appeal the decision. You have my word that I followed every policy… Read more

by the letter.

The only possible reason for the removal of my account was “revenge reporting” perhaps because I was approached by a member asking suspicious questions using poorly worded language. In an effort to establish if they were genuine or not, I asked questions based on their location, questions that only a local would know. Obviously they caught on, realised that they had been caught out and preemptively reported my account before I could report theirs.

Think about this: Hinge’s policy, justified by privacy reasons actually *protects* scammers and penalises genuine users without recourse. To and insult to injury, they do not provide a refund for the balance of the membership period you have paid for and actually tell you to approach Apple for a refund who have “may or may not grant the refund”.

In Australia, this is illegal. In my honest opinion (a legal term equating to sans prejudice), stick to other more reputable sites eg Plenty of Fish, but still be vigilant of scammers and start off with the minimum membership term to ensure that you are not only protecting yourself from criminals but also corporate fraud.

Sue me Hinge, I dare you. At least then you will be legally obliged to provide users with the reasons for being banned. I am not holding my breath.

So to be sure that Hinge understands what I am implying if it wasn’t clear: you are fraudsters until *you* prove otherwise. That’s my policy…

Account removed for no reason – Yep… I had my account removed with no explanation. All it says is that I violated one or more of their policies. I didn’t do anything wrong, I was talking to a woman for a phone days on our phones. Spoke with her over the phone. Then she kept saying I must be a catfish. I did everything to put her mind at ease. Meanwhile she wouldn’t even send me… Read more

This morning I wake up to my account being removed. Not sure what I did wrong. Nasty human Sent an email with no response. It’s all too strange. I had 10 other matches I’ve lost now too. They say you can appeal. But there’s no info as to what I’m appealing against. Just that I’ve violated one or more of their policies. This world?!!

They will ban you – Banned without reason, all they said is that, I was banned for breaching some policy. But this is the thing! Always polite to other users. Never disrespected anyone. Profile clean: bio/pics & respectful. But today I got banned. Worse part is.. They won't even tell you WHY Still had 4 month left on my subscription.. No refund either! Show details

I think Hinge is essentially a scam. I have had one reply from about 30 odd messages (all clean and respectful) and I have even asked ladies to give me a reply even if they are not interested just to let me know they have received messages, to date I have not received one reply. Show details

Not an app that is safe for women. Constantly matching with men that are inappropriate in the chat or on other apps and get aggressive and call you names when you disagree or turn them down, and then ban your account because a man reported you for warmly and respectfully stating you didn't want to see him anymore (which he got very upset about… Read more

It is clear that this app rewards or ignores nasty behaviour from men but have no issues banning women for doing nothing wrong. Do not recommend.

I didn't have any problem getting responses from guys or dates. I won't use a dating site again that has a free account option as the guys have nothing to lose in terms of time or money and many therefore aren't genuine and play games. It appears I've somewhat cracked the Hinge fake profiles issue. I've X'd about 150 of the initial 'stunner profiles' which are clearly created by AI/scammers/maybe even Hinge itself to get you to buy boost and roses; all [Content Removed]. Now I'm at the back end of the availability list where they at least appear to be real profiles. Their… Read more

algorhythms seem to be sending me less fake ones as well. Chatting and catching up with some ok women. I have had one where it's clearly a syndicate scammer trying to take you to Whattsapp and do video calls. It was the girl in the photos but her eyes gave her away when she kept looking at someone else in the room. I didn't have my camera on yet and deleted the convo. Be careful there as they will capture precarious video of you to try to blackmail you with later. It's a bit of work initially, and it shouldn't be, but most of these apps are exactly the same. Alternative is live speed dating which is massively hit/miss/expensive/time consuming. Good luck fellas.

Hinge is not good for somebody dating with intention. It's business model relies on return users not successful relationships. Furthermore it's process for dealing with member complaints is flawed. My Hinge account was permanently banned without any explanation, even though I did not violate any Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. removed the appeal option entirely, so I can no longer contact support or provide any verification. There is no way to speak with a human or have my case reviewed.

This has left me with no transparency, no explanation, and no dispute process, which is unacceptable for a service operating under Australian Consumer Law.

I am simply asking for a proper manual review of my account and clarification of what supposedly triggered the ban. I am more than willing to verify my identity.

I approached this site with an open mind, but my experience has been quite disappointing. They say its not a hookup app, but it is. After using Hinge for quite a few years, Hinge has effectively banned me from using their service. This makes the 4th dating app to ban me. Another dating site full of fake profiles. Google "start your own dating site" and this fact will be confirmed. I call it Unhinged. The women who are actually real are the type that jump from man to man, always looking for something better.
