What can we say once again, at our favourite tech store JB Hi -FI Sundew Rise Joondalup, with our usual go to staff member! We were in the market for a new TV for the spare room, we had visitors from the UK, arriving soonish! We purchased a Hisense 65” U8HAU 4K ULED QLED Mini LED Smart TV, unfortunately we couldn’t fit a bigger TV, it is… Read more

unbelievable to be sure, the clarity and crispness of the picture, the TV sound is outstanding and the Hisense sound bar is unbelievable to say the least, it was a bargain by any measure!

We have a larger Hisense TV in our lounge, it’s a little older and we find ourselves watching movies in the spare room, the picture is unbelievable as I said! Almost time for a new lounge TV, a 100” model!

We have 3 Hisense TV’s in total and they are all very good indeed, reasonably priced, very good value for money!

Our first Hisense and we're impressed – Ok, we have a Sony, an LG and tried a Samsung, which we returned due to a narrow viewing angle. My wife chose this Hisense with 3 year warranty because of the picture quality and value for money. The sales guy at The Good Guys, was not only accomodating with the return of the Samsung, it seemed to us like whatever he didn't know about TV's, wasn't… Read more

worth knowing. Once you're in the shop and you speak to someone who actually knows and isn't all 'salesy', nothing else matters. Unlike Sony and Samsung, this TV has a full-size remote (incl. voice control) , excellent, fast, smooth interface and the picture is so vibrant and sharp, I am sure it comes close to the market leaders. Very happy camper and so is my wife.

Nice Bright TV with great image. BEWARE of ALL LCD TV’s and their LOCAL DIMMING “feature” scam – We are happy with this TV. We have the 75” U8HAU. Like all TV’s in this category it’s a little frustrating that they all have gloss screens. This shows absolutely every reflection in the room. I would prefer a semi matte screen. The user menu and interface is fast, and it’s easy to navigate. The image quality is exceptional and the TV is… Read more

aesthetically pleasing when wall mounted.

Everyone I spoke to reported that Hisense was good with warranty claims should it be required. And Hisense warranty was longer than the other brands.

My frustration with this TV is 3 things.

1.

You cannot set a default “wake” input. This has resulted in the TV inadvertently being left on many times, but still looking at an HDMI device that’s off (if you select HDMI input it will send the signal to turn on the device via HDMI Link, but if you turn on the tv and it’s already looking at HDMI it does not turn on the device via HDMI link. This means the tv turns on but stays as a black screen until you select something else…)

2. Local dimming. Turn it off! Don’t influence your purchase decision for ANY lcd tv based on its number of led lighting zones. If local dimming is turned on - many zones or a few, it will drive you crazy watching a movie in a dark room. Horrific blooming of light around objects with a dark background. Read below if you want the full explanation.

3. The Alexa connectivity is poor. I can only get it to turn on and off, and VERY unreliably get it to change channel. However 100% of the time, it will say it had trouble communicating with the device.

———— TLDR; Overall. I tried the Sony, Samsung and others. The Hisense TV is solid, the picture quality is fantastic, the backlit led is great in a bright room, the user menu is fast and intuitive, the warranty is longer than the others. It’s aesthetically well designed, the remote is easy to use, I would say it’s worth your money. Just turn off local dimming!!!

———— LOCAL DIMMING BEWARE!!!

If you want to test a TV’s performance in the shop, search dimming test on the YouTube app.

https://youtu.be/3So8OFdqcdA?feature=shared

This will show you the local lighting zones. And screen tearing and image degree of fast moving objects better then no other test!!!! Watch this video of an LG to see what I’m talking about with regard to local dimming zones. It’s a horrible feature no matter how many zones there are. I suspect it allows manufacturers to get high energy ratings however it impacts the user experience significantly!! (Be mindful, you won’t notice it as much in a well lit TV store.)

Local dimming is a marketing scam! It’s horrible! But rest assured it can be turned off on the Hisense! Just be very mindful of this when you’re deciding on an LCD tv. The salesman will upsell a tv that has more lighting “zones” - this should not be a deciding feature. Just make sure it can be turned off.

Hope this helps. And seriously watch that YouTube video of a LG local dimming. I wish I had before I walked into the TV store!! I was convinced that more zones was better so the blacks were more black. I’m now 99% sure you want it off on every TV with local dimming.

Review of Smart Tv – Bought this TV last week along . In terms of picture quality and the features that come with the TV, I could say I was defintiely blown away and am in love with the U8H series. I thought the 55" is great. But the size of the 65" far suits a room that allows 9 feet of viewing distance which gives you that immersive visual and aural experience close… Read more

Perfect picture but REVISION – This is a revision of the first review, as some things need to be made in regards too events I was upset over the bezel upon the bottom of the TV - I do believe and hoping Hisense is watching, the sealing needs to be improved majorly. Why I am changing my original review is to be fair to the company and the product, the TV i received had bent… Read more

bezel but they are loose, these need to be sealed a bit better, other brands do have it seals, i do not know how the manufacturing process of the other brands or Hisense

Now without me requesting Hisense, they have replaced the TV and I would say their customer service is fantastic, the good guys did contact them, but i did cancel the return due to the good price good guys gave. I did not plan on buying a TV to begin with and did so because an event happened in dec last year that wiped us out and this means salvaging what I can and my previous tv only one year old had to be replaced.

I literally do love the picture quality of the Hisense - it is fantastic, I bought a mini led TV for the purpose of avoiding screen burn, as use a pc mainly and static pictures on olds or qd pleds would be a problem - do not want to risk having a constant image

I have used the TV for a while now and cannot fault it except my concern with bottom of the bezel - i really hope Hisense changes the product design a bit to make the bezels way better - i still have to take off stars due to the bezel, but the prior to replacement the bezel was bent out of shape on the bottom, the replacement did not have the same problem, but bit sponge on the bottom where can be pressed in easily The customer service of Hisense is brilliant in every aspect so I am really hoping they take notice and improve on quality - as such a lovely picture

I cannot comment on sound, as every TV I do go to an amp with surround sound, pluse more in depth sound from proper sound source - speakers are fine on tv’s but ultimately best is a dedicated audio source.

The remote control is good, has a huge selections of buttons, would be nice if the remote could be backlit upon pressing the button or glow in dark type of buttons - something all tv manufacturers should think of doing

The Apps on the TV are good, there are quite a few too choose from allowing free TV/Movies - such as TUBI and Bolt so there is a wide range of content you can see that are free alongside with the premium streaming services - TV channels I do not know, as never follow ordinary Television channels of mainstream media - I use TV’s for my entertainment and not to be programmed

It’s relatively easy to configure the sources and PS5 that works thankfully and connection to the 2.1 HDMI ports works very well

SO this is a revision of my first review and the customer service i really do have too applaud

The pictures are from the tv set that now is returned
