HP Office Jet Pro 8720 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMy OfficeJet 8720 is 28 months old. It has not had a lot of work and I have only just had to replace the Black cartridge. On replacing with an OE cartridge the printer came up with a message "One or more of the cartridges are missing or damaged". I assumed the new black cartridge was faulty so have purchased another pack of OE cartridges but when I installed a new black cartridge I get the same message?
I have been using a HP Officejet Pro 8620 for the past 5 years now the printer heads needs replacing. I do about 6,000 copies per year. I am going to buy a new printer what model do you suggest.
Thanks Mick
I have officejet pro 8720 - unit was cheap to buy (cheaper than replacing the print head), as usual the ink cartridges are what costs the most, have not had any issues with the new 8720 which I replaced about 6 months ago. Don't print like I used to when we did not email invoices and use to mail them. Had an issue in the beginning - you need to uninstall all old drivers and re-install new driver 8720 so that you get all functions - I did not do this as PC loaded it automatically (it does not load new features), it still worked but had issues, so un-installed old drivers and re-install new drivers have not had a problem since.
Thanks Anne much appreciated as that is one that i am looking at. Mick
i have the 8720 and it works well. tried non genuine cartridges and had dramas with patchy printing so bought genuine and used nearly a quarter of the ink doing the cleaning process to get it going properly. i still have the non genuine ones so i might try them again as it appears it may not have been non genuine cartridges but the print heads clogged.
I've heard that this printer prints photos so they come out picture face down and are therefore subject to smudging. Can anyone confirm this? thanks.
I can confirm it does finish the printing with the paper face down. I haven't printed photos with mine so can't comment on smudging. But for 12c at Officeworks I wouldn't think the OfficeJet could do it better or cheaper. IMHO.
Thanks rosscoandsandi. You make a good point.
It does finish the print photo side down and to be honest, while it is a great printer for everyday printing both black & White and colour, it is not real great for photos. I purchased a separate photo printer for photos.
Hi Jessta, can I ask what you got for photo printer? Thx
