terrible printer – Continuously disconnects from wireless to the point where you have to put a password in each time... Document feeder works periodically. Just tried to get it to scan to USB and it doesnt recognize the USB is in it despite the light flashing. Eventually after much frustration I am able to get it to work in some form... Or I just use the one at… Read more

work. Would not buy this brand again because of these frustrations. Purchased 2015 but no excuse for it to have so many simple faults.

HP printer – print quality and rest seems ok The cartridges are the big problem!! Though we print colour sometimes, in fact rarely, but the colour inks are depleted even if you almost always use BW, so cost $$ for a whole lot of cartridges But the BIG issue is they BLOCK use of generic cartridges, so you need to buy genuine excessively priced ink Was told… Read more

could get an update to fix this, but you have to do this using the update function on the machine

I didn't find this out till i rang support and then got directed to a website using a special number he gave me

Have lost several hours of precious business work time trying to sort this out

Have looked on the internet, and it seems this was a particular thing they were doing to stop customers using the cheaper generic cartridges.

This is absolutely dreadful that a recognised company does this

I will buy another brand in future

Printer head went after 36 months of very low use – Printer worked ok but after 36 months of low use the printer head has gone and it seems impossible to find a replacement. HP refer me to their parts resellers, who then say they don't stock it as its classed as a consumable. Refer me to Office works who don't sell it and say call HP. HP cant even seem to find the part number Shambles. I bet the part costs more than a new printer.........  Show details

The Major problem with this printer is Hewlett Packard – The printer itself is not too bad, my biggest complaint being that the touch screen is so sensitive but even a tiny insect can operate it just by crawling on the screen. (Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to the sound of the printer printing, only to discover 100 pages of paper on the floor and a tiny insect crawling on the screen… Read more

printing out another ink report. Sad but true!! )

The major problem with this printer however is Hewlett Packard. They have published a firmware update which causes the printer to reject old ink cartridges.

I contacted Hp to get replacement ink cartridges or instructions on uninstalling the update, but they are unwilling to do anything for me. Just want me to spend another $110 for more ink cartridges.

I have always used genuine HP ink in the printer, at enormous expense, this is the thanks I get.

Unethical, immoral behavior!!!!!!

Almost a great printer – Great printer, however its a real shame that the connectivity is rubbish. It seems that the software plays up every few weeks and you have to jump through hoops to get it to connect to your PC wirelessly again. Possibly due to software updates? Great printer otherwise. Perhaps connect it by cable for best results.  Show details

Best printer I've ever owned – This is without a doubt the best printer I have ever owned. It is not flawless and some printers perform better than it at specific jobs, but overall it is excellent. Print quality is good. It is a bit fuzzy up close and lags behind a few Canon machines we have used, but it is still above average. Colour printing is also good enough. Paper… Read more

feeding is excellent- the tray holds a good 250 sheets and I have had 1 paper jam in over 1000 prints. Print speed is quick and warmup time is very short.

The multifunction copy and scan is excellent. The ADF feeds easily, is fast enough and there are plenty of copy functions. The scanning driver for Windows is the best I have ever used, and works flawlessly which was a real surprise considering how bad most companies are with this. The machine networks over WiFi without a single hitch.

Finally, the running cost is incredible. Our old Canon cartridges were $40 for rated 500 pages but never yielded half that in reality due to the cleaning cycle wastage- this might be responsible for their sharper output, but I don't think it's worth it. This machine uses $60 cartridges that are rated for 2000 pages, and actually yield 2000 pages in real use- competitive with laser. Colour costs are also reasonable.

While this model is discontinued, the new 8700-series equivalent is just as good. I highly recommend this line of printers for any home office.

HP8620 Incredible Quality & Speed – I just purchased the HP8620 the other day and its without doubt the best printer I've owned. The quality of this printer is far better than other brands around and the print quality is exceptional. I'm not worried about speed but it does print very quickly. Scanning is exceptional and I do the like the scan to PDF feature straight to the… Read more ·  1

computer or USB device.

This printer also has a large 4.3" screen so you can easily see everything without the need of a magnifying glass like other brands.

So far, I've gone through 1.5 reams of paper in all variations of b/w and colour, some photos and lots of text and I cant fault this printer.

Its even better value at Harvey Norman where I purchased it as its $228 and with the cash back offer, its only $178.

Highly recommended !.

Scanning or photocopying superimposes lines about 50mm wide right in the center of the page – Brought the HP 8620 from Office works. I have not used the scanner/photocopy function very much at all in that time. However, the scanner or photocopy now superimposes lines about 50 mm wide right in the center of the page. I have followed HP's instructions to solve the problems online and this has not fixed the problem. Very disappointed in the product, not very well constructed.
