I’m sure HSBC are just taking the p*** when it comes to their application process. I have had to make 2 phone calls at their request for more information they need to approve my credit card. These things for a start did not need to be a phone call but an Email, and after my last phone call to them within an hour I get another Email asking me to… Read more

phone them again. I literally just spoke to them. Why can’t they tell me then and there what else they require. They tell you on the phone that it’s all approved they just need this “one” thing but it’s all lies. I have had various cards over the years and applications have not been this difficult. I have a home loan with this bank and even the process for that was much less painful then their credit card. Very disappointed with their process, will I ever have final approval…

I recently encountered significant frustration while attempting to restore my account from a backup. After reaching my device's limits, I was unable to activate the app again. The issue lies with the security questions, which are redundant, and there's no way to know which question I answered incorrectly. On top of that, I couldn't receive an OTP,… Read more

as the code can only be generated in the app, which I’m trying to reset.

It’s incredibly frustrating that I’m now being told to visit a branch for assistance, and the representative even suggested that if I’m traveling, I should do that at the destination. They dont care, and dont have any other alternative. This process feels unnecessarily complicated and has made what should be a simple recovery situation extremely difficult. Carry other cards when traveling.

They are apparently a global/international bank. Nuh. You cannot rely on HSBC if you are traveling overseas as they just block the card. I advised them days before traveling and they acknowledged. Then blocked the account on the first use in Singapore. Make sure you have other cards. My Amex and Citi cards are working as they are true global banks Show details

Very quick in finding fraudulent transactions – I have been using my HSBC credit card for about 5 years now. I have traveled overseas with it, used it online and I use their credit card online function on their website. People complain about how hard it is to login with as there are multiple numbers and passwords to remember but it is all for the security of the account. I recently had my card… Read more

details stolen and within 15 minutes of a fraudulent transaction in Germany I received a phone call, text message and email explaining that there was a possible fraudulent transaction and to contact them immediately. Once I called them back, the call center explained the transaction and once finding out it wasn't me she cancelled my card, my online account and blocked the transaction. The new card is now being sent out with new banking details. I am very happy with how quick they jumped onto this activity as it has saved me form losing a lot of money I may not have noticed missing.

Excellent – GREAT. Easy to deal with, credit limit increases no hassle and all transations clear and concise on their statements. Would help if they upgraded to the new chip technology so it could be used with a PIN. When I applied about a year ago there was a 6 month 0% balance transfer option and the annual fee waived for the first year. Also, the… Read more ·  1

Ridiculously complex to apply for – This card is ridiculously complicated to apply for. Multiple emails all requesting more things. Then told to go to bank for id but at bank they are still not happy and ask me to call cc centre again. Not worth it

Can NOT pay bill through online banking??? – I just moved to HSBC credit card due to having my home loans with them. Now, I just realized that I can't pay my bill through online banking under my credit card account. But it's okay to pay my bill from my home loan accounts. Contact their support and they told me that I only able to use the app on my phone to pay for bpay bill not through… Read more

Horrible ! – I had a card if i spend more than 6k annual fee to be waived, it's been months they still remain unreachable. Support guys keep saying it will be adjusted when statement generated. Now their system even stopped generating statement, after several escalation, they sent me statement manually via email, and the fees not yet waived. Further more, they say card policy changed from next year fee will go up even higher & will not be waived ! Show details

Transactions continually declined – My recently acquired HSBC Star Alliance card has been declined on numerous occasions- despite using only 8% of the limit. I reported this to the call centre and the card then accepted one transaction and then declined the next 2 . I have been a customer of HSBC for 40+ years and this is probably my worst experience from any card issuing bank. I cannot recommend this star alliance card.

A tired, outdated bank with terrible systems and processes – Why does HSBC make it so hard to bank with them? I am an existing customer and I simply wanted to apply for a Premier Credit card. All my salary and other income gets paid into HSBC but they still wanted payslips and other docs. Almost 2 weeks go by and despite calls to the overseas call centre who repeat the same line like robots “your… Read more

Wake up HSBC! Other banks can process simple requests instantaneously! Invest in your customer processes to remove blockages and double or triple invest in your IT systems! You’re a joke!

Worst credit card application process in the industry – I've had the most frustrating credit card application experience with HSBC by far. I applied for a credit card 3 weeks ago but I am still waiting on the application result. I had to go to a branch twice and call the help desk 6-7 times to get an update and submit yet more documents and there is still no resolution. Their processes are very manual… Read more

and outdated - I had to go to a branch to get an identification check. Departments don't seem to talk to each other - they asked me on the phone for documents I already uploaded and also submitted in person in the branch. They can't provide a meaningful update or commit to any timelines - on every call they tell me we will get back to you within X days or hours and they never stick to the promise. Don't bother, just go to another provider to save time.

Horrible application process and it makes me fed up to further proceed with them – Extremely extremely extremely time consuming and tedious, hours and hours on phone conversation with their reps, asking thousands of questions but when asked they always said this was the last question and when answered they asked again next question and said it would be the last question again. complicated than applying a home loans, asked questions totally inrelevant to credit card applications. Regretably that I have been loyal HSBC customers for more than 20 years. Will leave them for another more reasonable banks. They called me back again for asking questions but I refused to answer again after so many "last" questions. If you don't care about your customer's time, your customers don't care about you.

Regretted using HSBC credit card – I regretted using my HSBC credit card (instead of my other usual bank’s credit card) as it costed me about $500 of total foreign fees buying from foreign online. These foreign fees I need NOT pay for anything for years on my other banks credit card — of the same kind/tier (with no annual fees). Avoid HSBC credit cards and shop around as there are much better CC products out there. Show details

Horrible credit card application – Terrible application process. Makes you submit documents more than a home loan for a 6k credit card. Application process is the pits – The card itself is fine. The application process I went through in 2018 was painful but when I sought a higher credit limit the application process was next level annoying. Declined twice wont tell you why never again – HSBC make you jump through all the hoops send this document and that then a string of endless questions then at the end decline and will not give the reason why even if you have banked with them for years by the way this also ruins your credit score

Terrible services – I had my HSBC Qantas credit card for about a year. I had the opportunity to speak to them several times. They are nice on the phone but mostly do nothing what they promise. terrible website too, I decided to cancel my credit card. I called them and again, "sure, sure" it will be done as soon as we receive the payment. I paid strait away and next day I could not get into my account, so I though great, it was done without any problems. Today I called them again because I earned very little Qantas Frequent points (6) and I spent on their card much, much more. Same the month before. So as I said I called them today, and the HSBC lady told me, that my account is still valid and they even charged me the yearly fee. She promised to cancel the fee and close the account. So I hope I will not hear from them ever again. Never mind the Qantas Frequent Points.

Horrendous product – Extremely difficult when ringing customer service to get help. Every request has proven to be difficult or impossible for the call center person to attend to. Failed to send a replacement card when my current one expired with no explanation – I have had a fee-free HSBC card (like the one pictured) for a few years.
