Unusable trash – Does not properly play many DVDs that work in our old machine. When it does work, it takes up to 5 minutes to load a disk, so you don't know if it will work or not and have to sit and wait for it only to fail. Very slow to do anything. If you press a button - say, switching dvd/usb mode - and nothing happens, you have to wait a minute because if you press it again it will just switch mode then switch back again.

USB playback is terribly designed. Instead of showing contents of a drive like normal, it scans for media files (for 3 minutes) including pictures, then automatically starts playing a slideshow. It couldn't find video files on the USB drive, and we had to scroll very slowly through a list of 90 other files it found on the drive just to find that out. It only shows 5 at a time and you can't scroll pages at a time; you actually have to press "down" 90 times just to find it can't find the video.

Remote is the flimsiest thing I have ever seen. When we threw this machine out I snapped it in half with my bare hands with no effort at all, and I'm not especially strong. Dodgy buttons as well.

Do not buy this model. I wouldn't accept one even if it was free. I threw mine out instead of donating it or giving it away, just to spare someone else the pain of having to deal with it.

I went back to using an LG player from 2002 and am much happier. Will not buy JVC again.

Terrible – Each yr for 3 yr warranty period its been back to same repairer for same fix. It is now 3 months after warranty expiry and same "loading error" bug occurred again. Repairer states it is a "Power Supply" issue and AUD100- later, could now also be a hard-disk fatal error issue, obvious this was evident from the first year of purchase, which repairer now says is not worthwhile to fix.

Same on you JVC and the confidentiality agreement with your repairers.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Good machine when it works

3 Year warranty with device upon purchase from WOW Unfortunately suffers a "loading bug" error.

Bad – reasonable when it works but a bit fiddly and instruction manual very long and complex for people who are not familiar with these type of machines. Cheap for dvd recorder - deceptively easy to use once you play with it a bit and learn to choose the right format types. Good tuner in it and remote works for tv (sony) as well. Think it works for most brands once you program the correct code. ours died within the warranty period- it first had the bug that many have had where it just says loading loading, but nothing happens. Then it stopped working altogether- no power nothing. About to get it back from repairer sso will be interesting to see how it goes. No hard drive and automatic chapters are annoying as you have no control.
