First soup maker purchase. Surprised at time saved – Have used this soup maker about 10 times so far for a variety of different soups and ingredients. Overall positive experience saving a lot of time. Although there are not too many options for the texture of soup. For example, there is nothing in between smooth and chunky. With smooth blending everything to a smooth consistency and chunky not… Read more
blending at all. There is another blend function to further blend the soup although I never had to as the smooth setting was more than enough. In addition there is a pulse setting but due to the size of the bowl and the size of the blade, its largely inconsistent for a short setting. Long story short if you require chunky soup you need to precut to the size you want first.
In addition, for some soups which are not mostly waterbased (such as creamy pumpkin as opposed to minestrone etc) the bottom of the unit (heating area) burns the soup touching it. It doesn't seem to effect the flavour, but makes cleaning a little more tedious.
It does save a lot of time though for the simple soups where you throw everything in the start and leave it to its own devices. For more complicated soups which require timing of ingredients and texture, this unit isn't for you.
DO NOT BURN! – Under no circumstances will you want to burn this! I used it for the first time and was following the instructions step-by-step. Towards the back of the manual it tells you not to add flour - too late! Within a minute or so the food was burnt on the bottom and making it overheat and cutting it out. I ended up cooking the soup in a saucepan like… Read more
I normally would. I boiled salt as recommended in the manual and it got most of it off, but that was a process in itself, because the shape and depth of the soup maker does not enable ready access with a scrubbing brush! I finished it off with Gumption, and if it ever happens again I'd use that first. I do think this has potential, but it hasn't been a great start for me. I think you need to be really careful with what you put in it, and read the manual right to the end FIRST! Good for just throwing ingredients in and letting the machine do the rest. It would be good to be able to use whatever ingredients you wanted without having to worry about it.
Good bargain buy! – Owned for 2 months now. I've found it is a great little machine for soups that don't require intensive simmering yet will handle some still such as split pea. Only used for soups so far but apparently can be used for smoothies as well. I don't follow recipes, so I had some inconsistencies at the start with soup thickness but with trial and… Read more · 1
error I have it pumping out brilliant tasting soups without having to watch a pot on the stove. The machine makes enough soup for 2 people, or one very hungry person with some leftovers. Anything more than this and I'd suggest the good ole fashion way. If however you are just making soup as a side dish to dinner, then this will be perfect for a full family.
Machine seems rugged, well built and doesn't look too bad either. Soup consistency is uniform, well blended on the smooth function and well cooked. If you are going to cook something like split peas however, I suggest pre-soaking them for half an hour in hot water from a kettle.
With cooking things like potato and beetroot, if you want to use the smooth setting I suggest making sure you evenly dice them fairly small to allow even cooking as the function only boils for 20 or so minutes. I however have never had a drama with them being under-cooked. Cheap ($84 on special at target). quick and simple (chuck your chopped veggies and herbs in, press 2 buttons) not suitable for more than 2 adults, but great for singles, couples or students.

Absolutely amazing! – I bought this when it was reduced to $20 because it didn't have a cord with it, luckily for me, I have many jug cords at home. So win win for me. It's the best soup maker, I've ever used, it's so easy! We even blended a microwavable meal in it. We use this machine every winter, and sometimes even in summer. it's easy to clean, regardless of what… Read more
Sam L said. We use it to make soups for us and our infant and the soup comes out very smooth.
if you ever see this appliance around, buy it, because you wont regret it. 20 mins for soup....that's pretty good.
excellent machine! – Just needs to allow more volume to cook - its perfect for 2 people, only. We started to cook in a big saucepan on the stove, then use it to blend it (the plastic blender doesnt like very hot liquids- goes opaque & cracks. was pretty impressed that it lasted 5 or more years! Like other reviewers, it cooked but didnt blend in the end. Guess ball bearings went in the motor We used it nearly every day in winters Show details
I love this machine – I love this machine and both my husband and myself have used it successfully for the last 3 winters so I feel we have already had our monies worth. We bought one for each of our 40+ years sons and they enjoy experimenting with it. & throw in whatever they find. Show details

Please upgrade – I would consider the best kitchen appliance ever invented. Healthy soups cooked perfectly every time. Sadly though I ended up throwing it away after only a few uses, because I couldn't clean it to my standard of clean. I hope in the future they invent one that can be immersed in water. Show details
Same as the others, good when it did work – I was given my soup maker & I think this is its 3rd year. But after reading the other reviews I seem to remember I had these problems last year. Cooks but does not blend. It happened again last night. Saw these reviews with kambooks answer. I rang the 1300 No & the answer was 1) this problem is not known to them & 2) there is a new one coming out in about a month. I pdon't think I'll wait. I'll chuck this one out & buy another brand. It should have lasted more than 2 years – Until today I would have said that it was a great machine, even though I hadn't used it all that much. But I set it up to make some soup for this cold weather, and it twice blew out my power. So it is now in the bin. Other electrical appliances I've had for years and years. Show details

The best soup maker ever – Add ingredients and 30 minutes later you have a delicious meal ready to eat. Great value for money and easy to use and clean. I would recommend this product to anyone. Show details
Really disappointed – Same problems exactly what happened to me. I bought it last winter, mostly made pumpkin soup but found I had to chop up the pieces a lot smaller or the lid wouldn't clip on properly as the beaters sat up on top of the ingredients. I've only used it about 4 times, had it less than one year. Got it out of the cupboard this week but it will only heat, not blend anything. I should have taken notice of the negative reviews. Disappointed that it has died at the start of the winter – Bought it last winter and got great use out of it every weekend making smooth soups. Just got it out to make the first pumpkin soup for winter 2017 to find that while it will cook still, the blender is jammed up solid. So only chunky soups can be made with it. Seems like the internal electric motor has seized up. Disappointed to have barely got one winter's use out of it. ☹️ Show details

A Gadget I Actually Use – In winter I use this practically every week. I usually choose the smooth function and chuck in whatever vegetables are in the fridge, water, and some kind of powdered low salt stock and I have something reasonably healthy and tasty in exactly 21 minutes. It comes out piping hot so while it is cooling I wash and rinse the unit and it's back in the… Read more
cupboard in about a minute. You need to ensure you are within the maximum and minimum levels for it to work properly and you will end up with about 1 and 1/2 litres of soup, which may be not enough for a family but plenty for 1 or 2 with leftovers. Mechanically I have had no problems in the 2 years I have had it. I liked it so much I gifted one to a family member and they love it too. I have definitely got my money's worth.
Only worked for 3 months – Overall very disappointed. You need to chop up veggies really smaller so they fit. Only feeds 2 people. The blade stopped working only after 10 uses or so. Wouldn't buy again. Waste of money. Mum had this machine also and hers now not working after 6 months. I recommend buying a bigger soup maker that is better quality. Show details

I hate wasting money, mad as hell – I purchased the simple soup maker 18mths ago. I used it 3 or 4 times when I first got it to make pumpkin soup. Every time it burnt at the bottom so I put it in the cupboard and forgot about it. Today I got it out to try again and now it turns off, and I'm following the instructions to the letter. So frustrated, it was a waste of money I should have stuck to a pot and purchased a stick blender instead. Show details
Never again – So a while back we purchased the soup simple, used it twice (followed directions etc) then it died. Had it replaced last year and forgot about it. Recently we made up a batch of pumpkin soup. Awesome... So tonight we decided to make some more. Plugged it in, turned it on... And it died. What a waste of time and money. Show details
disappointed – Disappointed with my soup maker. Adapted my pumpkin soup recipe, ensured I only used ingredients in other recipes ie no sugar.. but still stuck ti the bottom. I read a review which said to cook it on chunky then blitz, defeats the whole purpose of buying a soup maker. Helen Show details

I still hate cooking but now love making soup! – I use it all the time... friends now get soup instead of baked beans on toast and think l am a great cook!!! Don't bother making tomato soup tho... l have tried many ways and it always catches and it's not worth the hassle of the cleaning. Other than that it would get a perfect rating from me. Show details
Waste of time and money – I followed recipes on the leaflet and the thing keeps turning off !!!! So far I have wasted 65 minutes trying to stir, remove ingredients , add more water etc etc, waste of time. Unless you want to boil water I would not waste my time, I now have to drive 25km back to the store to get a refund as Im not wasting my time trying this EVER again,… Read more

Exellent Soup Maker – Makes soup making easy. Perfect results every time. Table spoon of Butter on the bottom and no burning. The Recipes are great. Very full bodied soup. Should you like your soup a bit lighter reduce the vegetables by about a third, or use the full recipe and add about 300 mils of water to it

Terrible soup machine – Got my Kambrook machine home. Couldn't wait to make a delicious soup for work and so sat down and read the instructions. Next day, gathered my ingredients and liquid. Added liquid and vegetables. Stirred and then went for the smooth setting. It kept going off, so I read the back of the book that said if it went off to add more water up to the max… Read more
line. Took the lid off.....very steamy everywhere. The water level was in between min and max. Added a little bit more. Turned it back on and it went from 21 to 19 and stopped again. Lifted the lid off again, stirred and replaced. Started it again, and it stopped again. It was starting to really frustrate me. Ended up pouring the soup into a pot, only to find it had burnt on the bottom. It wasn't even a thick soup. Had to throw my ingredients out and then try to clean the bottom of the machine without immersing in water. A total waste of money. Taking it back and hopefully getting my money back. Terrible machine.
Do You Like A Burnt Bottom – These kind of soup makers will always burn food to the bottom of the jug if you use not enough water or stock and if you use the "smooth" mode. Use "chunky" mode and blitz it after it is cooked. Burnt food can be removed mechanically. Use emery paper to remove the burnt food.
Frustrating at best – Like many others, contents often burn/stick to the bottom which aside from being extremely frustrating, makes it really difficult to clean. I rang Kambrook Customer Care & as it was given as a gift and I'm unable to get the receipt they pretty much told me that it was too bad.
Dinner ready in 20mins – Best soup maker ever.. make sure you use butter or oil on the bottom of the soup maker stops it from burning, also gives it flavour. Dont under fill or over fill and you wont go wrong. Perfect for single people to families. Soups can be frozen . Add a can of tuna and soup mix in a bowl perfect healthy meal. Paid $65 at the Good guys definitely recommend buying it.
Had the exact same experience as Mel M – After having the first soup maker [that didn't heat up from the get-go] kindly replaced by the Good Guys, I was very keen to use the replacement one. But the exact same experience as a couple of the other reviews. It worked for all of about 60 - 90 seconds and then turned off, but not before it burnt the contents to the bottoms of the pot. Grrrrr!! These machines only seem to know 2 speeds Flat out and stop. Very Very Frustrating.

Perfect product – A super product. Easy to use. Cheap to buy. Perfect soup fast easy every time. Just add vegetables, stock and soup done to perfection in twenty minutes. Great product. In addition to all those comments of burnt soup. I always put olive oil at bottom of unit before I start and always make sure I put enough stock in. I even stopped it half way through to check on it, never had a problem. Show details
Fantastic.....excellent way to eat vegetables – To all the people that have said this burns your soup.....your wrong..... Fantastic for healthy meals so easy no fuss – Love this soup maker took it to Weight watchers and made soup, and a few more ladies have purchase it and also happy with product
Worst appliance I've ever owned! – Burns EVERY time! Contrary to the advice in the booklet, No matter how much liquid I put in it still burned the bottom. Vegetables will naturally sink to the bottom where they just burn and the machine turns off. I've only used it a few times as it frustrates the hell out of me every time I use it! Time and money in wasted veggies I have painstakingly prepare go in the bin! Waste of money!

Kambrook Soup maker - burns on bottom – Like previous review mine burnt on bottom to and still trying to clean it and I have only used it 3 times. I wasn't using potato or any other ingredients that the manual says may cause burning. Very very poor customer service - when contacted about suggestions to help clean they copied slabs out of the manual despite me stating that I had done what was stated in manual with no success. Not happy
Love it!!! – What a fantastic gadget. Beautiful soup in 21 minutes and variety only limited by your imagination. Best thing I've bought for ages. Would recommend this to anyone who loves to make soup, but without the mess. Today we have broccoli, onion, carrot, sweet potato, lentils, garlic and ginger - yum!
kamrook soup simple – The soup burns at the bottom every time it is used and you can not remove it even with soaking and scrubbing. After 3 uses it stopped working altogether. It would not stay on for more than a couple of seconds when the on button was pushed.
