Terrible – What a total piece of cr@p. I was recommended this by someone installing an aerial. Worst piece of advice I have ever taken. What a rip off. They broke down outside the warranty period and so I have had to replace each one. They are rubbish. Pox on KAON! Easy to set up. Cheap You get what you pay for with this baby. I bought 6 for apartments that I rent fully furnished. Guess what - only 1 left.
Excellent – I have purchassed 2 other set top boxes which were good but this one is the best. It is compact, easy to install, and gets a great reception in a bad reception area It picks up a good signel in a bad reception area It does run very hot.
OK – Good unit, will probably work straight out of the box in an area of strong reception, poor manual and a menu system that is not that user friendly. This unit produced the best free to air picture my family had ever recieved in our home, however to get this picture I had to make changes to the antenna in order to get any sort of picture at all (I… Read more
live in a n area of poor reception, and have relied on cable tv for a good picture). The extra channels and features were nice also. The price was very good (at the time, I think they are much cheaper now). I could'nt work out how to program it to certain channels, it would have been nice to have channel 7 on number 7, but no, it was on 16 so the kids and wife were reluctant to use it (it was in the family room).
Good – I installed this unit 3 months ago, and have not had any problems as yet. I payed $140 at JB Hi Fi in Newcastle and really, compared with the Panasonic model TU-CT20A I purchased 6 months ago ($300) it is 10 times the set top box. It is really easy to set up, has a good selection of games (when there is not much on TV)I also like the LED display on the box. As yet, none.
Terrible – Not happy at all...! Small, Lightweight, outputs Dolby Digital through the S/PDIF. Well... I bought this unit 3 days ago, purely based on the positive feedback from these reviews. I bought it from JB Hi Fi at Bankstown and when I got it home and opened the box, the unit had scuff marks, scratches and greasy fingerprints all over it. It was… Read more
clearly a return unit, the case had been pulled apart and not screwed back together correctly. I tried using it and it seemed to work fine for about 30 minutes then started pixellating something shocking.
Today, I returned the unit and got a replacement, this one looked new. (I checked before I left the store)
Well, after setting it up and using it for 10 minutes, the display all went black and white and there is now no colour display.
Its going back for a refund tomorrow.
Excellent – *********** (11) stars out of 10! I really enjoy KAON's product. As above, easy to use etc!! Matt Jelonek. Very easy to use, great function and i like the remote! The box get very hot when not in use but slightly cools down when turned on! Is that normal?
Good – It is a solid performer and easy to operate, plus provides Teletext and some ABC & SBS Radio and some games etc. Signal level of Channel Nine is low, but not the fault of the box. Well priced Set-Top Box with straight forward tuning and menu set-up. Compact and efficient unit replaced my Nintaus Set-Top Box. Can't say anything significant I have found that is bad for this unit for the price. The Teletext is a little slow.
