Great unit – Great AC unit, great features, cools the bedroom down nicely. The only cons that I can find are the installation instructions are not that clear and I wish it had a slightly lower fan speed. Show details

Does the job – Bought this during the december heat wave. Could not have slept without it. For 2 months it was on almost non stop day and night. I live in a fibro house with no shade trees. Temperatures outside were in the 40s for weeks on end and in the high 30s inside the house. The remote is easy to use and has a function which can turn off the operation… Read more

lights so as not to disturb your sleep. Definitely not as quiet as a split system though. Originally bought it as a temporary fix in the bedroom until I could install a split sytem. However have been so impressed with it I am considering not purchasing a split aystem but instead I will buy a cool only one for our lounge room. Have yet to receive an electricity bill so not sure how energy efficient it is though. Will post again when I see my bill.

Very noisy – My old aircon was noisy hence why I replaced it, Had the Kelvinator KWH62HRE (6.0kW) installed and (Very noisy) even on the lowest fan setting although cooling is very good. Do not buy a Kelvinator product. The after sales service is appalling – The timer on this Aircon. does not work. Either that or the instruction manual is incorrect. Not one person has practical experience of the product when assistance over the phone is required. You get sent around in circles. Assistance from a technician over the phone, to troubleshoot the problem is refused. It has taken over two months of phone calls to finally get an appointment with a technician---who does not arrive. Maybe this afternoon. Show details

The AC works well fan is a little noisy – 5 stars for uint but 2 stars for instal manual. The unit is easy to use and my old one die so I brought the same size and type again as I was happy with the old one but the old one had a drain hole this one has a hard to get out the plug and no instruction or advice of removing the plug other than it may decrease performance. But it is noise when… Read more

the water channel fills with water as the fans ping loudly as they put it against the condenser I assume to cool the condenser but in the heating mode, it becomes very loud. Rumana from Electrolux the copy and paste "contact us" response is not cutting it. Please let us all know WHY the plug is in there and what will happen if taken out and can it be safely drilled out as unscrewing is a pain in the Butt. Also, it would have been good to have this clearly explained in the instruction manual before instaling.

5 years on, still brilliant – I absolutely love this air con, i'm a renter and i'm disabled. I brought this unit and had it installed in a window, for removal later and 5 years later i am still very happy. It is a loud unit, but no louder than than any other air con motor, it's just that you don't hear split systems because the wall seperates the noise. This in a all in one… Read more

unit, so of course you hear the motor, i just turn the tv up another 5 bars or something. I can still easilly hear people speaking to me in the same room, without raising our voices. It's cheap as chips to run, cheaper than a lot of split systems i know of, and it handles heat waves like a pro, just don't leave it on 24/7, in a heat wave, i noticed it struggled a bit during the day if i didn't turn it off at night, nothing much just an increase of 2-3 degrees in side the house. Other wise this things is a warior. Fingers crossed it's replacement is just as good or better, not that i will need a replacement anytime soon.

Horrendous customer services – My Air Con stopped working a couple of days ago, sounds like a compressor issue. It is under warranty, rang Electrolux as advised by the store I purchased from. the phone cut out or she hung up. You would think she would call straight back but no, so I now am having to call back again and will be on hold for gods knows how long. Won’t warrant a 24 hour product – So, I bought this from the good guys at gepps cross and installed it, noticed that it was hissing and not working efficiently and as I have 2 others of the same in my house as it is I compared them and it just was no where near as good. I contacted Electrolux and they instructed me to take it to the good guys and do a DOA swap as it’s within 7… Read more

days. The good guys refused to do it claiming that Electrolux told them not to. I then took the unit back home, called Electrolux and they said they didn’t refuse to warrant their item and said if I wanted they would sent a tech out. This could be next day and then once the technician decides what’s wrong with it which is the lack of gas charge, they will organise a replacement but only at there discretion and would then take longer for the new unit to arrive.

I remember when kelvinator was a great Aussie brand, everyone wanted a kelvinator fridge and air conditioner. Then along came Electrolux and they decided to make everything in China to the lowest cost possible. They no longer want to service or strive for customer satisfaction and I feel this is shown buy how many Simpson dryers and washing machines have issues.

If only fisher and paykel made air conditioners hey! Never have I had an issue with there service of there appliances but Electrolux refuse! Now I’m stuck with a dud AC that they refuse to honour there DOA policy as stated in there owners manual!

Bad bad instructions – I don't write many reviews but this feedback I thought was important. Firstly the product seems to be working as described although I haven't had long enough with it yet. My complaint/warning however is to those who intend installing it themselves. The instructions included with the unit are right at the top of the worst I've ever come across. I'm… Read more

not going to list all the issues with them because it would take a lot of space so the two main ones are included parts not mentioned at all in the instructions and the fact I am typing this with a bandaged hand due to a nasty cut I got on the cooling fins taking the cover off that I wasn't warned about. So the instructions are at best next to useless and at worst dangerous.

It is not hard to get this right. You build your product then you engage a competent technical writer to do the instructions, review, test, fix-up, complete. It's a pretty quick and cheap step that prevents real problems for the end users and it's overlooked way too often but it's disappointing when a company like this is unable to recognize its importance.

Lives up to the advertising - quiet and cool – Purchased the Kelvinator 3.9k from Harvey Norman Gateshead Friday 4/1/19. Service and deal was very good. Two iminor installation issues - first instructions made no mention of the need to remove the plug from the underside to drain condensation. I should have realised but it was hot and a long day.

The second, if fitting into a cavity brick wall, be mindful of the gap on the underside between the unit base and brick wall. If left open, entry point for wind and birds have access to the wall cavity. Corrected this by fitting a aluminium flange to the housing rail to block the gap and applying celastic to fully seal.

All up happy with the purchase

Fantastic Quite Room Aircon – I put this in at the start of summer and it has made the world of difference to out stuffy bedroom. It is really quiet running - no problem sleeping with this one and is reasonably efficient for an aircon. The best bit is any home handyman can install this because it just plugs in. No wiring needed. A lifesaver this hot summer. Haven't used the heating yet because I really just bought it for cooling. Very happy with it.  Show details

Affordable and Efficient – For a 2.7kW cold and 2.4kW hot this little wall unit air conditioner packs a punch. Absolutely a DIY installation was very easy. Just uses a normal 10A power point so no need for extra wiring. A quiet little unit that works well (well so far it is). Was magical during the January 2018 week long heatwave in Victoria with most days 43+ temperatures.

Could be a bit better – This was bought for our packing room, so that employees could work in comfort on hot days. We measured the area to cool to calculate the size needed, & then went up one size to the 3.9 kW, thinking over-sized would be best. It's lucky that we did, as the amount of cold air coming out on high speed isn't very impressive. My 18 year old Fujitsu split-system (3.2 kW) does a better job than this.  Show details

Junk metal, faulty product, dont waste your money – Emits a rattling noise so loud it had to be turned off, faulty unit. cooooollll!!! – o.k. moved into the upstairs bedroom and discovered how quickly heat builds up during the day , so i looked at various model window mount aircon units and the kelvinator seemed to be the best value for money , so i purchased the kwh26 model , cooling only as heating was not a priority, installation was a breeze , and then i discovered it's… Read more

downside , it's a little noisy in a confined space , cools the room in approx 6 mins (18sq.mt. floor space) and then the fan just circulates the air ,the difference between low and high fan speeds is minimal so it basically stays on low when in operation . capable of cooling a much larger room and being wall mounted, if the difference in fan speeds were greater with low truly being low the noise level would be not so intrusive but overall happy with the performance at the price

Great Product 2 years on with heavy use! – We've used this unit all year round now for about 2 years. With the varying Melbourne climate needed a box air conditioner to replacing the existing units position in the wall. We looked for a powerful, reliable and good 2 year warrantee which was only offered by Kelvinator. 2 years down the road and being used for15 hours per day have had no problems whatsoever. A great choice if you're looking to replace a pre existing box system.  Show details

Performance with emphasis on noise levels – This model is much quieter in both heating and cooling modes than the higher capacity KWH53HRE (5.3kW) model. The fan and its control system give very smooth changes of speed. The fan noise level is generally low on all speeds except high and is just below that of the compressor when used in either heating or cooling modes. The compressor appears… Read more

to produce slightly less noise when set for cooling than when set for heating. It is a good compromise between capacity, size, weight, noise levels and easy installation. When an older window wall air conditioner has to be replaced this product deserves serious consideration. I am happy with its performance. As final comment, the outside noise level is very reasonable but I would prefer that on heat mode the fan should continue to run and not keep switching on and off when the thermostat operates which is done for energy efficiency but is somewhat distracting when the unit is situated in an already quiet area.

Very, Very Noisy to the point of Unusable – Bought and installed (exactly as per instructions) a Kelvinator KWH39HRE window mount unit in the last few days and was surprised as to how noisy the unit is, especially on the heat cycle. The unit replaced a 10 year old 3.5kW R/C Panasonic unit which finally failed and the Kelvinator unit is far noisier than the Panasonic unit ever was. The… Read more

Kelvinator unit drones badly in heat cycle and last night when the outside temp got down to Zero deg C the unit just got noisier and stopped generating any heat until the outside temp got to about 2 deg C at which point it started to generate heat again. The unit is supposed to be able to cope with down to -7 deg C !

This Kelvinator unit is as noisy inside as it is outside! It sounds as though the compressor is hammering against the back of the air vent chamber (yes, it is that noisy) but I can't see any contact. Fresh out of the box this unit is unbelievably noisy and is simply unusable while I am present in the room, again, it is that bad.

Now I have to waste my time and set off down the path of dealing with the Manufacturer and trying to get this resolved. I am hoping that Kelvinator can do something about the noise level because the only other option is to stick it back in the box and hope that some time in the future I can find a use for it....that would a very inefficient use of $759 (AU).

I bought this unit because a replacement Panasonic unit was not available and I have 2 Kelvinator split systems and they have been very good, so I figured that a Kelvinator window unit should be OK. Hopefully Kelvinator will be able to correct the problem but I have my doubts because the Kelvinator window unit does not have anywhere near the same amount of sound deadening material as the old Panasonic window unit and that, to me, indicates that Kelvinator did not put much emphasis on noise control. I will update this review if/when Kelvinator have a look at the unit.
