Kings MPPT Solar Regulator 20A Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: AKSR-MPPT_20A_01Hi I have a Kings 20a solar charger controller connected to my 65a Lithium PO4 battery. Battery type is set to Fo4 but I can't see any way to reduce the battery size below 200. Battery is accepting 14A from solar panel and solar led is flashing every 1 seconds and battery light is permanently green. However the percentage indicator says 100 % Is this normal ?
Hi there, Thanks for your question! It does appear that you may have our Plus 20A MPPT Solar Regulator. You can reduce this to match your 65Ah battery by entering the Battery Settings Interface. A flashing solar LED (1 per second) confirms normal charging, and a solid green battery light means the battery is full. The 100% reading is normal.
If you had any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Kind regards, Sue
Hi The issue is that there is no option to reduce it to 65 ? Only options are to increase and this is a significant increase

I have a new 20amp controller that I would like to be able to reset the solar power input amp hours and supply amp hours to zero. According to the instructions that came with unit it is possible. I have tried to reset as pr the instructions 20 times or more, also disconnected the power in,battery, and load for 24 hours but it won't reset. Tried factory reset can't get it to work that way. Took the motor home to the shop I bought the controler from from they couldn't reset it they said it is regulating as it is supposed to and it is doing that. All I want the reset it for is to measure the total amp hour output of the batterys and all I have to do is note the number of hours I start the test and subtract it from the final total. Should I just do that ? Do I have a faulty unit ? Has anybody tried to reset function on their unit ? Any suggestions please .
Hi there Ray, Thank you for reaching out, I've had a look into this and the item this question is placed for does not feature these functions, so that we may best assist, would you be able to reach out to us at social@4wdsupacentre.com.au with your order number and a screenshot of this review, and we can assess the unit in question and assist from there.

I have the 100 ah slim lithium battery and the 100 w solar panel on roof of car and the controller is reading 17.5 v on charge, but battery reading 0.05 v so no charge going into battery which reads 13.1
Hi Tony,
Thank you for the question, it's hard to say without being able to go over the unit, but we could potentially get it looked at in store if you have a storefront nearby.

I have an issue my solar regulator solar fails to come on. Load does and battery does 2red dots or 2 red dots with the 3rd flashing. My battery reads 12.7-12.8. Battery is 135ah AGM. I’ve connected my fridge to the battery to bring the voltage down a touch and still not getting solar. The sky is blue and the sun is blasting. Any suggestions
Yes, throw the Kings solar controller in the rubbish, if it is a Kings, and buy a better one from Renogy, Victron or Powertech or another reputable brand. Just a suggestion.
Hi Ryan, Thank you for taking the time to write this question. Feel free to reach out to us with videos of the fault, your order number and a screenshot of this question so we can have a look into this further for you. Regards, Courtney
Hi.i have the 20 a kings solar regulator compatible with my kings lithium ion. Everything was fine...now when I turn off the battery box the whole mpppt display flashes on and off.. When I disconnect the battery and reconnect it it shows a solid green battery light then a solid green panel light then the the panel light goes off. The battery says 100% charged. Any ideas please.. Thanks Teecee
Hi there,
Thank you for the question, this could be caused by a number of different reasons, are you able to advise on the voltage of the battery, and whether the unit is the one shown?
Regards, Andrew
My 20a mppt controller is set up correctly to agm and 138ah, but only shows 70% charge when the battery is at 13 volts! Followed the somewhat vague instructions exactly. NOT HAPPY!!!
Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to leave this question, are you able to advise on whether the connection is direct to the battery?
Regards, Andrew
I have same issue... how can this be fixe
Hi there,
If you'd be able to advise the same, we could have some reference from which to advise.

I purchased an mppt 20 amp solar controller mppt. Ur agent told me it was suitable for lifpo4. But I'm reading that it's not. Is this correct.?
Hi there, the premium MMPT regulator is compatible with lithium. The regular MPPT regulator is not compatible with lithium. Kind regards, Rachael
So why did they sell it to me when I told them what batteries I had? Can I exchange in store for the better one..if so how much is it please and which one?
Hi Joanne, Please send us an email at social@4wdsupacentre.com.au with a screenshot of your review so that we can discuss this further Kind Regards, Rachael
I have just bought this controller (Jan 2024) and the instructions clearly state that it is suitable for LiFePO lithium batteries. Maybe this is an updated version. I note the instructions say V1.5. I have not used it yet so I don't have any results to share. I will do so after my initial tests.
Hi there, You may be advising on our premium MPPT, as our regular MPPT does not state this information. Cheers, Courtney
Installed my 130w solar panel and connected it to the KIngs MPPT (20AMP) controller. Solaris giving me 20-25v. Using a multimeter im get a zero reading on the battery outputs. When connected to the battery the red led's flash but after 2 days I have added nothing to the battery (9.6V) . Put the battery on a 240v charger (13.1V) then reconnected to the MPPT and it dropped over the course of the day.
Hi Robin, Thank you for providing this information. We would recommend placing a claim here so our claims team can review this further - https://service.4wdsupacentre.com.au/returns. Regards, Courtney
Hi I have a kings 110 w fixed solar panel + MPPT Solar controller connected to battery, But my red light flash every second, does anyone know if I have stuffed it and why it has happened? Cheers
Hi Johnno, This could be two of your wires touching and creating a short, it may be worth while checking. Regards, Courtney
Thanks will let you know how it goes
i have a 20a mppt controller and the solar light is flashing,,,is this normal???
Hi Adrian, If it is a slow flashing this means that charging is in process and if it is rapid flashing this indicates over voltage. Regards, Courtney
Can I leave the 20 mppt regulator. connected to the battery permanently. after disconnecting the solar mat.
Hi Irene, This should not cause any issues with your battery if left connected. Regards, Courtney
Hi I have bought 2 kings mppt 20 amp controllers since December 22 both controllers worked great for about two weeks then they wouldn't charge because the solar light wouldn't come on the load light is on the solar panel shows 20.3 volts and battery is 12.7 would it be a bad batch of controller or my solar panel thanks Bruce
Hi Bruce, We are sorry to hear you are having issues. Feel free to place a claim here - https://service.4wdsupacentre.com.au/returns. Regards, Courtney
Hi, I’ve got the same problem as Bruce. Everything is hooked up correctly, nothing is connected to the load, but the load light is on. The solar light will not turn on and no charging happening in full sunlight eighter.
Hi Nick,
Thank you for the follow up, we would advise to potentially look at the same route to resolution, as our claims team can assess the item, and should it be a simple wiring issue can advise further.

Hi I have had one of these controllers for a couple of years and whilst it hasn't seen a lot of use it works well. I usually plug it into my camper trailer via the standard set up with no probs. I also run a BAINTECH power top and decided to hook up this battery to the solar set up. Made up the connections, all good, cables carrying power etc plugged it into the BAINTECH and ZIP nothing happened. Hooked it up to the trailer battery using the same connection and again nothing. AS I mentioned I have checked and rechecked the connections polarity etc and all is as it should be. Is it possible the controller doesn't recognise the new connection, would a re boot possibly address the problem. Your thoughts appreciated.
Hi there, Whilst this is difficult to say for certain without testing, our regulators are made for a direct connection and this may have tried to detect the battery but due to indirect connection may be gating itself. Regards, Courtney
Thank you I contacted the Baintech people yesterday and it would seem that it is their equipment is the problem. They suggested a solution which I tried and was successful.
Thank you for looking into this matter for me
Just got a second hand setup, (good deal) it is set up a bit odd it seems to me. The solar panel is connected to its own controller with the output feeding into the input of an identical controller inside the ute. This then feeds the battery. It appears to work but the 3rd battery light keeps flashing with the battery at 13.1 volts. Any suggestions
If it’s a kings setup don’t expect too much
Hi Ian, This setup seems to be fine, but this may not be able to charge up to it's full capacity as there is two regulators that are lowering the voltage. This may also be the reason why the light on the battery is flashing as it wouldn't be letting through enough voltage to achieve full charge. Regards, Courtney
The solar light on controller does not come on. I have a 250W panel. The output voltage of the panel at the moment is 24.8v and short circuit current is 11.4Amps. My battery voltage is 12.5v. Any suggestions please?
Hi there, We are sorry to hear the solar light isn't coming on! Feel free to place a claim here - https://service.4wdsupacentre.com.au/returns. Regards, Courtney
To what address do I send it back?
Hi there, Our claims team will review your claim and go through our returns process with you! Regards, Courtney
On my 2nd 20amp mppt in 2 days, 1st one didn’t work so went and got a 2nd one today for it to only work for 6 hours, even after trying to re set it, solar light won’t go, load one does and two of the 3 battery lights are on constantly with the 3rd flashing, don’t think I’ll trust one away camping as seeing all these reviews
Spoke to an Auto Electrician about my experience, he said I had done nothing wrong and recommended Redark equipment.
Hi there, The MPPT may not be registering the load, but as this is showing the battery charging rate it does seem like the MPPT is working sufficiently. Regards, Courtney
It was registering the load, stop taking charge from solar panel, went and got a controler brim bcf and works perfect, the kings one needs taking off the shelf, 2 from 2 of them failed for me and plenty others having problems with them
Just fitted a new Kings 20amp solar controller. It lasted 2 hours. No solar green light……just 2 red battery charge lights
Try connecting to battery first, then the solar panel
i bought one of these and the solar light rarely comes on . What is the issue here
Hi there, I am sorry to hear you are having issues with your MPPT. Feel free to contact us on social@4wdsupacentre.com.au with a screenshot of this review so we can look into this for you! Regards, Courtney
Is it normal for the three red battery lights to blink
I only have one of the lights flash, but my batteries have a fair amount of charge in them
Hi there, Slow flashing is a sign of charging in process. Regards, Courtney
There is no output from my kings unit, which is mounted to the 250watt kings portable solar panel. The two red LEDs are lit and the third is flashing when connected to the battery. When the battery is disconnected the three red LEDs light briefly then go out. At no time is there any voltage at the battery or load terminals. This unit is brand new and has done no work. (purchased from ebay.)
