Laser BD10803D Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhere can I purchase a new remote for my blu-ray dvd player
Hi all,, The tray on my BLU-BD10803D won't open. This has been sitting in it's box for years, never used. So I thought I would set it up. Can not get the tray to open, and sounds like there are bits rattling around inside. It's well out of warranty. Any suggestions other than the obvious (bin it)? Thanks.
Open it and have a look? Typically the nylon (?) doesn't deteriorate so it might be something minor (bug or another external contaminant) that's got loose and is jammed in the mechanism? The power supply on the Lasers was also very weak and deteriorated over time (a common problem with many different brands of Blu-Ray player)... even if you weren't using them. It's possible the power supply is not putting out enough power? Check if the display looks faint. If it does then the PSU is probably the culprit. Internal power supplies on many players were the cause of a lot of problems. Changing them looks relatively easy if you've got an electrical bent.
:-)
Thanks for the reply, the machine has been sealed in it's box, so doubtful it's a bug getting in there.
I eventually updated to a Sony player with an external power supply and it's still working. Plus it has smart features which are useful.
Discs are not loading in both of these machines in our house and the message is bd-U. What does that mean? Can't find anything in the manual. Laser was purchased in 1/14.
this model player is garbage! still under warranty ..get your money back (3 Year warranty)
Safe to say you will always have issues once something goes wrong. If possible return for refund they are not very good.
You can always run audio cables from the player to the TV? That would fix the problem... while you try to work out what caused it?
:-)
Laser 3d Players are rubbish,I thought they were excellent in the beginning but it let me down eventually ,even Bigw staff told me they were rubbish, take it back as it has a 3 year warranty anyway,be aware though Big W have changed policies on not having a receipt with what you bought.
Hi, I've had my laser model BLU-BD10803D for about 9-12 months it is accepting bluray disc no problem but for some reason it has stopped reading DVD discs. Is this a firmware problem or is it the lens?

It's more likely to be a hardware problem than a firmware problem. The main reason that these Bluray/DVD players fail is the power supply. They seem to put out EXACTLY the right amount of power... but as time goes by the power output drops... and then you start to have problems.
I have replaced the PSU in one or two of these units because I liked them so much... but it's not worth doing unless you can find someone who isn't too expensive... or can do it yourself?
When the PSU power starts to drop you get firmware errors... and that's why it seems like it might be firmware.
Sony has come up with a sensible solution to the problem... they put the power supply on the outside... so if it stops working it's easy to replace.
In the end I decided that the main reason my unit was having problems was the power supply.
It wasn't heavily used... so I was very disappointed. Fortunately it was still under warranty... and BigW were nice enough to refund me (this was my second unit that failed).
I currently have a Sony Bluray player... and it's been great.
Prior to that I've had a heap of players of all kinds that have failed in under 2 years.
I've also got a Kogan Bluray play that my friend has loaned me (it's an old one)... that continues to work... but that is quite a solid unit... and presumably has a PSU with some overcapacity?
:-)
Laser bluray players are rubbish ,take it back they have a 3 year warranty
A blu Ray disc is in the machine, the display says open/close when the buttons are pressed but the draw won't open. Is there a code or a manual way to open the draw?
Hello, this model has now been classed as a failure, the company Laser will no longer repair these and have advised businesses who sell this to grant the purchaser a full refund,if you decide to take it back to the store make sure it's under the 3 year warranty.
Always write down the problems you are having with anything you buy as a good start and show the notes to the store employee.Hope that helps deb
I have just connected up my Laser BD-10803D Blu-ray Player with HDMI cable and everything works except the audio, have got no sound at all. can anyone help?
press the mute button on your remote control ,it may be the problem
Hi, I just set this player up and it plays blu rays , dvds, perfect. However I have problem with using the USB stick I can play AVI files no problem but anything MP4 and all I get is a picture but no sound? Is this a fault or simply wont play MP4 files? Very confused.
Hello Maple, The usb feature is very finicky, some things play some don't,it states in the specifications that it does play MP3 and MP4 files, but I am pretty sure if there is one little error in what you're playing the feature has a breakdown in communication .
