Works well as a basic STB (given my old SONIQ died) however disappointed that you can only record shows "Once" or "Daily". There needs to be a Weekly option. Show details

Just bought one of these set top boxes and we can't get sbs. We had another one in the house to compare and confirmed the set top box is useless, cheap and nasty. It will be going back when we get a chance to go back to the store, as we live in a rural area. Our aerial was replaced 12 mths ago so we know that's all good, and we bought new cableling.

Follow-up  · We are still using it but limited to what channels we get via the set top box.

AVOID! Cheap to buy, but a nasty user experience – AVOID!! Terrible to use. Archaic interface with messy channel display. We brought it without doing the research first. Bad mistake!! It's going to be returned tomorrow. A truly awful piece of user unfriendly electronics. Show details

STB for the Masses – I purchased one of these as an occasional PVR and to use with a HDMI Cloner box and to replace a Topfield STB I had that died. :( For the price it works pretty well, saved me from purchasing another TV. EPG works fine for me although the media list of recorded programs doesn't store the program title only the channel and time, so you need to… Read more

remember what you recorded :). This STB does not have endless features, but I found it works ok with a few idiosyncracies, mostly related to the remote which is hard to operate due to the size of the buttons... small fingers are the order of the day. The fast forward feature is also a bit hit and miss in that fast forwarding a recorded program will often see the program revert to the start, which is a bit annoying. In summary if you're looking for s low-cost STB for the occasional program recording this will do the job albeit with a few issues as outlined above.

Laser Topbox 9000 - The EPG is a disaster - don't purchase this top box – I purchased this 27 July 2024. The EPG has changed from the single program vertical listing that was clear and easy to navigate, to a mess of characters - All Channels/Horizontal list. You get a variable length (up to seven characters, often less) of the program title. To pre-program a broadcast you have to scan horizontally through all the… Read more

broadcasts before it. but the EPG is unstable and after making about three or four jumps horizontally along the broadcast list the EPG times out and up comes the "LASER" logo. I tried to pre-program five times, then gave up. I never got as far as the broadcast I wanted. As far as the screen view goes, text goes off the bottom of the screen. I checked the Aspect Ratio of the TV and Topbox (both 16:9). Then there is the Station list. One can no longer use the Channel numbers to select channels but an imposed Channel number system created by the programmers. So if you have 17 Channels as I have, after deleting all the duplicate and "rubbish" channels, you end up with a list 0001, 0002, 0003, ... ,0017. I had to type up a Channel listing to keep track of Channel numbers e.g. ABC Channel is now "0003", Channel 9 is now "0013" Channel 10 BOLD is now "0016". Its going to take a while to memorise this listing. And, why does the Topbox keep turning itself off? The Auto Standby is OFF. Who worries about lip sync! My advice ... find another product.

Not worth it – Cannot use portable external HDD drive. Can only use flash drive which has very limited storge. Set top boxes from other manufacturers can handle 2TB portable HDD, but not Laser. Can only record up to 12 hours max.
