Lenovo Idea Tab Pro ZAE40173AU

When I saw this product in a store, there was too little information on the box to determine what was in the box. Lenovo should pay more attention to this simple concept. So dumb. The salesman said "they won't let me open the box to see what's in it." How can he sell it with this rubbish going on? (JB Hifi) I had to buy the keyboard/pen set… Read more
from one shop (Harvey Norman) and the tablet from a different shop. (Bing Lee). One web shop had cut and pasted a description identifying 2 different memory versions but didn't specify what they were selling from their web shop. Helpline staff were unable to identify the exact product on their webshop. (Go Harvey Norman !)
Lenovo Idea Tab Pro falls short in some areas, especially if using it to record audio and more particularly a musical performance. Much better results can be achieved recording from a moderately priced phone. I'm quite disappointed with this part of the product. The playback audio is pretty good so you can enjoy using it for listening to music and watching streamed content. No earphone jack means you need bluetooth earbuds or possibly some kind of adapter from the USB C port ? I do like an earphone jack. I don't want any more batteries to charge. I tried a variety of video apps to try playing some movies I have on file with little success. Maybe Lenovo could have taken the trouble to preload a great versatile video player instead of a bunch of unrequested games. If I travel with it I might want to play videos from my library if I can find a good app? You can however plug out to a larger monitor, use Android apps and there are many useful things you can do with apps. With so many Android phone users it is a natural evolution that app developers may continue to create and improve the usefulness of apps to extend to tablet use. Overall I will find regular use for it but be aware of the limitations of this product. The pen is ok for drawing. Not bad but you'll have to find an app that works for what you want to do. The tablet downloaded a lot of crappy apps that I had to waste time deleting, just to see it do it again. I couldn't bulk select them to delete. Lenovo should address these issues. Not all of us have time to waste on Candy Crush. Battery life so far is pretty good. A good charger is provided. A USB C port is the charge point. I trialled it with a USB Hub to plug in another monitor which can mirror the screen or extend it. Works. Build quality is pretty good though Windows Surface Pro is lighter, nicer to use with a much better keyboard connection and Surface Pro kickstand is a better design than Lenovo's Keyboard/Pen Cover Set. It is a lot less money though. File management seems a bit of a nuisance. I tried to access files on a memory stick plugged into the USB C port but this Lenovo device didn't seem to recognize it. Why ? Makes no sense to me. I can plug a USB stick into my phone and use the file manager to access files. Why is it difficult to do with this TAB? There is a poorly presented written instruction sheet with the unit with not much effort put into that. So there you have it. Not bad, but plenty of room for improvement.

My mistake. The USB C adapter I used for a flash drive fit snugly in the Lenovo's USB C port in the… Read more (+1 reply)
