Great tv – Very good tv I have had it for years and it’s still running excellent. The tv has tv streaming on it.
Don't hate this because of some lemons – TVs flawless, owned it for YEARS and it survived cross country moves. Chromecast plugged in entire time- wouldn't rely on its internal capabilities given its age but keeps up with modern plug ins. Previous Sony Bravia at twice its price lasted quarter of the time I've had this before it burned itself out. Show details
Everyone says how clear and perfect the picture is – Had this TV for many years now, and people always comment on how clear the image is. A few have said it looks 3D in 2D mode, thats just how good it is. Show details
A really reliable, functional TV that does everything I've asked of it – After 4 years this TV has worked flawlessly. It's fully featured and runs Netflix and other apps. It's got a very useful Time shift feature that allows us to go back and repeat live TV. Show details
Poor tv – Paid $2500 for this tv brand new and it lasted under 5 years. Not happy as to pay around $500 to replace the boards without labour charges on a 5 year old tv seems hardly worth it not to mention that its a discontinued model now and new parts for it are near impossible to find. Definitely wont be buying another LG tv again and would advise others to do the same. Show details
Short life span – Great TV until picture goes after 4 years of normal use. LG wouldn't pay the $55 to "assess" if unit was repairable by their own dedicated repairer. Disgruntled customer as my Panasonic has lasted 8 years and my Conia 12.5 years. No more LG TVs for me or my family!! Show details
Not what I expected – Just on 3 years black screen LG would not stand by product service man stated too expensive to repair without seeing the TV it may just have been a circuit board fault, picture was good sound not so good bad instruction book not easy to understand TVs should last 10 years. Crap WIFI connectivity – Only supports WEP. And it's extremely spotty with a WEP wifi connection. If the connection drops, well guess what... you'll have to enter that 13 character password again. On a wired connection the TV is stable. So fork out for a ethernet over power if you must... that's what I will have to do in my case. Show details
Very dumb for a smart tv – The TV itself is ok. Just like every other TV I've owned, it works, it's clear... It has inputs! 3d is a gimmick- the glasses are bearable for 5 minutes and the 3d pictureis not as good as the 2d. The "smart tv" component is a complete and utter waste of time and money. It is unusable! Unless you're prepared to wait 5 minutes for it to respond! … Read more
Don't call yourself a smart tv when the "smart" component is worthless. It's a dumb TV. A basic, standard TV - that's all.
Turn the tv on and you generally have to wait 15-20 seconds before the remote responds which is annoying in the morning when trying to turn down a loud tv. The time machine feature is f*****g useless. You cant watch a recording until it is complete... if you watch the channel while recording, when the recording finishes it jumps you to live tv which is sh*thouse when you're watching live sports... Just a sh*tty tv all round... I'll be getting a tv with android next time... LG really failed in smart tvs - stay away
Terrible. Lucky its discontinued – Do not buy this t.v. if it turns up again. Known fault after 3 years 3 mths no picture just sound. Lg did not want to know, took 5 minutes of google to find out fault. Wouldn't admit it in the chat service. Wont be buying lg again. Shame really. Show details
LED TV black screen but has sound : Horrible customer care and terrible product – I had, cause it is with service company for last 10 days, this TV for more than 3 years. My extended warranty ran out in September-2016, while the issue started in Nov-2016, and i had to struggle a lot to get them to organize a service to provide repair or replacement as part of reasonable product performance guaranteed under federal rules and… Read more
regulation.
After several calls , i finally managed to get my TV collected by LG nominated service company ( that was 10 days ago ) and since then several calls to customer care and no resolution at all. Every time i requested to talk to my case manager either she is gone home or on leave. On demanding to talk to someone senior they would put me on loop for hours and no person to talk to. I have had several call , where i was put on hold for 1 hour plus and finally i disconnected fuming and hopeless.
all in all i would say don't buy this terrible products, it looks like they know the problem with their latest developed products but just not willing to accept the failures and do the needful.
I will never ever buy any LG product again. :(
LG - Black screen but has sound – Great product. Had it for just over 3 years and the screen turn black but had sound. I contacted LG and they were great to deal with even though it was out of warranty (12 months factory plus 2 yrs extended). LG arranged for a repair to contact me within 24hrs, the repair did contact me and advised they had ordered the required parts. The parts… Read more
arrived and they arranged an onsite repair. The TV was back to normal with 7 days of the fault occurring.
Thanks again LG for your understanding and great service.

Terrible product from LG – Just had this TV for 2 years. One day while watching TV the screen turned black while the sound was still working. LG won't help although it seems to be a problem across their TV range. This is the second LG product I had and the other one also had issues. It seems that they pack their products with lots of features to make it look like an attractive option for customers but their products are poorly quality. Will never buy LG products again.
Terrible Tv Broken Down Twice Now Lucky I Took Out Extended Warranty – Had tv for two years. Picture went on it, got it repaired under warranty two months later it has broken down again. The repair agent service is really bad 14 days to get fixed and the communication is only through email. Now I have to go through this all again. I will never buy any LG products again.
Terrible – After 21 months my tv stopped working and after taking it to the LG service centre I was told that to fix it I would have to pay $400 more than I bought the tv for new. I will never buy another LG product and will be telling everyone I talk to the same thing. Not happy!
Bad tv – This tv is not worth the money it has some worst black levels i have ever seen real cinema 24p mode does not work as it should for a 100hz tv and trumotion is very bad 3d is crap. Do not buy this tv or any other from lg save your money and buy a sony or samsung tv.
Great TV. Sleek. Modern. Perfect picture – Excellent 42 inch TV. Perfect picture. Smart TV works well, also 3D. Highly recommended. LG seems to be a reliable brand.
terrible control - blank TV guide – Only buy this TV if you always prefer to watch (or start watching) the same channel that you last watched; because that's what this TV does: you watch a movie on Prime one night and when you want to watch ABC news next evening and press "2", it switches on with Prime and you have to laboriously and long-windedly find your way to the ABC. … Read more
Similarly, when you've used an external device last and want to switch on a TV channel: first you have to change the input selector back to TV. Driving me insane!
Also, despite excellent signal and internet connected, the TV guide function usually shows only blanks for about 1/3 of available channels, so it's useless.
Picture and Sound ok, but the screen is very reflective so it's best used in a dark environment the thin frame; it swivels; sound is good it drives me insane always having to go through the last watched channel no matter which program I've chosen to watch; the TV guide function only shows some channel content
Just spoke to LG via phone as they suggested I do "to go over the options" so solve the problem. I… Read more (+1 reply)
Very Satisfied – Purchased this TV after reading the reviews on this website. I am very happy with this TV. The picture is crystal clear especially from 3D Blu-ray. Purchased mainly because of passive 3D as compared to a similar Samsung product with active 3D. Live TV is great - really enjoyed seeing the Carols by Candlelight on Christmas Eve - was like being… Read more
right there in person. The sound is weak in the bass but not too bad for a thin TV. Adjusting the sound settings helps. There is some light spill at times around the edges in a darkened room. Otherwise really great. Great picture Thin sound
Don't overlook this one when shopping for 60" – Initially went in with aim of getting Sony/Samsung TV however was overall pleased with price of this model and specs/image compared to other sets. Brought my USB3.0 stick to test image quality and was pleasantly surprised at hassle free recognition of all content files. Great picture and features. Yes, the sound on this TV is not the best, basic… Read more · 3
2.0 setup. However if you have your own sound system this becomes negligible. Buying one model up from this to get 2.1 is an option or you can just opt for a sound bar which probably give you better performance for same money as well as option choosing specific brand.
Passive 3D makes this TV a good option if you have many people over and want to enjoy some 3D together. Comes with 4 inexpensive glasses that don't require any charging, unlike active 3D of Samsung.
Connectivity is perfect. TV connected to internet, updated firmware and detected all media servers on the network without a hitch. So far so good.
This TV does appears to be region locked - smart feature not important for me so this is negligible. Price, Easy installation, great picture. Sound, Region lock.
Great TV for the price – Works fine I don't use apps on TV tried once a bit slow but I have 5 other devices at home for apps, great picture and great all round TV most people say the sounds awful but its not if you use a sound system I mean who uses the TV sounds only a doof. Price and quality Apps a bit slow
Great TV but terrible if you like Footy or Cricket – Got this tv from Harvey Norman and was in love with it... Until I watched some AFL and the Ashes. It has some very noticeable banding and DSE. Also – I mostly use a surround system so its not that much of an issue – but the sound from the tv speaker is woeful. Otherwise, I was very happy... but this was really a deal breaker for me and I… Read more
returned it ... Harvey Norman were nice enough to replace it for a Samsung series 8 plasma under my extended warranty... As I call DSE and banding a massive FAULT. Great picture for everything except sports Terrible picture for sports, Banding & DSE issues, Possibly the worst sound I have heard from a tv before.
I am curious whether the AFL and Ashes footage you watched were broadcast in HD or SD? I would… Read more (+1 reply)
Region Locked, Bad Apps, Ads, Crashes, Poor Sound & No Support – This TV is software region locked in Australia (so that only Australian and local asian region apps can be accessed) and there is no current way to circumvent this. If you're interested in using a US or UK video on demand service through your TV (e.g. Netflix), do not purchase a 2013 model LG TV. Despite this, we thought that the smart apps… Read more
would be a nice addition to the TV, but have found that most of the apps are of a very poor quality, and the premium apps section of the TV is missing many well known video on demand services that are freely available within Australia.
Upon attempting to use the few premium apps that the TV does have, we've found that they lack content and are very laggy and error prone despite the advertised 'dual core' system. LG's own apps (like 3D World) run so slowly and stream video so poorly that they're unusable.
We find the sound quality from the in-built speakers to be very poor and have had to switch to using our home theatre speakers instead.
We have also found the TV's software to be unstable, with it crashing at least once each day since we got it (which requires a restart to fix).
After paying as much as we did for the TV, we're also very annoyed that LG's TV's have an inbuilt advertising platform (LG Smart Ad), which forces the TV's owner to view ads within the menus, and that you cannot turn off.
However worst of all, we've discovered the hard way, that LG (at least in Australia) appear to have absolutely no customer support, despite their advertised claims to the contrary. We placed two calls to their 'Custom CARE' line which after 10+ minutes directed us to a call back service that never called us back. So we sent emails via their website (which requires creating an account!), only to have them respond to all emails after around 24 hours with very curt and dismissing remarks.
The fact that you can't enter a discussion with them via email support, (you need to send a new email every time, which will get a new person at the other end), seems to indicate they're primarily interested in the illusion of support while really just fobbing you off.
My favourite two very helpful single line responses from them are:
1. "Unfortunately this setting cannot be adjusted or changed - the TV is region locked to Australia."
2. "You cannot disable the advertising that appears on the Home Dashboard."
Although we do think the TV's picture is quite nice, the many other issues with the TV combined with the high price paid and complete lack of support from LG make us overwhelmingly unhappy with our purchase. Nice Picture, Swivel Stand Region Locked, Bad Apps, Ads, Crashes, Poor Sound, No Support
Why didn't you check all those features(eg; sound, Apps) at store before you bought it? If you need… Read more (+9 replies)
