TV is 8 years old and have suddenly lost picture first time round. It came back after playing round with the remote. I still had sound, two weeks later I have lost picture and sound and am unable to get it back at all. Is the Tv un repairable and is it time for a new one.

Yes. Modern TVs are pretty much unrepairable. You'll find a new 55" to be an enormous improvement.

Hi Steven. Had same problem and LG had to replace lighting board at a cost of about $90

I have same issue, changed main board, power board but no luck. Did some further research and came to know that its possibly bad led strip or strips. Will change that soon and see if it comes back to life. What u must do is, turn the tv ON in a completely dark room and shine a torch on the screen. If you see the dim display on the screen,, that means lEDs are not backliting the screen. This also mean that your main board and power boards are ok.

Hi, I have a LG LED TV model 42LN5710 purchased in 2014 as a second use TV so has hardly been used, moved from Perth to QLD and our Viera TV which is over 12 years old packed up. So we changed over tv's to the LG and connected to Foxtel, the tv starts you watch a programme and it turns its self off; and then back on 20 or 30 or so seconds later. Does this every 20 or so minutes; I have tried HDMI ports 1, 2 and 3 does the same thing has anyone experienced this problem? have I got it connected wrong? do I need a different cable connection to the Foxtel box? Thanks,

Sorry have not had any interaction with LG TV's. I think calling LG would maybe of assistance. Or Google search sometimes give a good result.

Sorry Carl A - My experience was the picture went after 4 years and cost me over $450 to fix. Expected this TV to last longer like my others. You may need to take to an LG technician which will cost about $75 for them to inspect it and this amount will be deducted from your account if you go ahead with the repair. Cheers

Screen turns on for about 1 second, shows the LG symbol, then goes black screen and back to stand by. Any suggestions on what is issue and how to fix would be appreciated. Cheers, Luke

Not sure if this response is too late. Sounds like main board. Part has limited availability so can range from $130-$200. Plus normally $100 est labour

The program guide sometimes has a choice, Samsung basic one or Freeview it is selectable in the Guide menu. I assume these days LG would be the same.

Hi Kev - I contacted LG Customer Service this morning and they advised my LG TV does not support freeview. Cheers Cheryl

Hi All,

I have the LG50 LA6230. Screen turned black, audio could be heard though. For those who fixed it with LG, do you remember how it was fixed? Did they replace the LED strips on the TV. It's doable but it takes hours or work.

Let me know

Hello unfortunately if the screen is dead it will cost more or as much as repairing it. It is covered by warranty if still valid. It seems that this problem happens a lot with LG. If if is just out of warranty you can try to coerce them to replace or repair, but most do not. A TV should last at least 10 years as per the ACCC, but not easy to tell these manufacturers that. I have had dozens of problems with my Samsung Smart TV, but only as I got an extended warranty has it been easy to repair. Hope this helps a bit.

Gerry.

Hi! I recently bought this tv for $600, can you please tell me if I paid too much for it was secondhand also.

Hi

Not sure about the price but I believe companies like LG make low quality products. If you are lucky your TV will last couple of years.

Hi i have a lg smart tv 60la6230 and i would like to get freeview plus is it available for this model?

Matthew
Matthew

Hi Dave, I don't know, sorry! The best thing about this TV is that I have limited my TV time because I think twice about laboriously flicking through the buttons to get to the desired channel when TV comes to my mind. Given that despite excellent reception and internet connection I have to first scroll through all available channels (about 3 minutes worth) before the TV Guide button push shows a complete program for all available channels that day (another reason why I watch less TV: I simply don't know what's on!), I wouldn't be holding my breath. Complete dud!
