Very poor quality remote – The door lock itself is good and nice to look at, but the remote controls that come with it are very poorly made cheap plastic design. After a while they obviously don’t last and then you find out to replace just one of them is at least $80, why would you spend that much on a cheap plastic unit this is obviously where Lockwood think they can make… Read more
their money from you. Well not me because eI will eventually change the lock and definitely not be looking at anything Lockwood, you obviously do not get it Lockwood!! Do not waste your money on this lock, remote controls do not last.
its good to start with but painful after about a year – installed fine and worked well, gradually had problems getting worse and worse, 1st the fob wouldn't work to open the door & now it beeps all the time to the point i had to take the batteries out, now the lock is broken and the key won't work, i'm dreading taking it off as all the holes you had to drill to install it are going to be hard to fill with a new lock
Good lock when hands are full of groceries – We have had this lock on our garage door for six years now, the only issue I have with it is the life of the batteries, I find I have to change both remote and lock batteries every twelve months.
Good while it lasted too expensive to replace after 13 months – Installed November 2017 died December 2018 12 month warranty on the electronics. Locked me out late at night couldn't even use the key to open the door the hole mechanism frozen shut. Had to replace the lock with a different lock which turned the door to swiss cheese as the drilling pattern made it difficult to replace with a different brand of… Read more
lock. Absolute garbage stay well clear that is why you get 25 year warranty on the mechanism and only 1 year on electronics. Do yourself a favour and stay away.
Great Looking Lock but Remote replacement too expensive – Have just installed this lock and all is working well. Wanted a third remote but at $90 this is ridiculous. Whole lock with 2 remotes is $300 so the remotes are excessively priced. Better technology using RFID would enable the lock be opened by Mobile Phone.
Nexion keyless lockset - Stopped working around one month after the 12 month warranty ran out – Loved this unit while it was working but within 13 months it has completely stopped. Contacted Lockwood and they suggested we return the remotes for them to check even thought it is out of electronic warranty. They returned the remotes with no explanation other than to have a locksmith look at the unit, which would most likely need replacement. As… Read more
if we would want to replace it with another potentially faulty unit. For the $350 we paid, we would've hoped to get more than 13months out of it. Back to using it as a manual lock set now. So disappointing. For such a reputable brand you'd expect more, will be trying alternative brands in future.
Failed and no ability to repair – We purchased one of these a few years ago and it worked well although batteries had to be replaced. However recently it failed and after replacing batteries in both the door and remote it still won't work. It beeps rapidly red and doesn't open. I contacted Lockwood technical service and the couldn't advise on how to repair - only advice was to get… Read more
a locksmith to come and assess or replace the whole unit. Because a locksmith would set me back a lot and most probably would require the unit to be replaced it is not an option. So really - an expensive unit failing after a couple of years and requiring total replacement is not acceptable. I recommend looking for alternatives.
Remote control replacement cost is extravagant – I bought the nexion lockset about 6 months ago.. to be honest I love using a remote control to open the door... The lock set includes two remote control keychains.... My first remote control was water damaged... despite it being advertised as water resistant ....it is the square design keychain...2013 model... and recently I broke the… Read more
second remote control after trying to water proof it myself.. basically the buttons utilised on the keychain consist of a warped piece of metal sticky taped to the circuit board... I kid not. I try'd to solder the warped pieces of metal to replace the sticky tape ..to find it unsolderable.. so I developed small hooks that hold the warped metal in place... on the second button I dropped the warped metal plate and have lost it... so after half an hour of searching I decided buying an entirely new remote could be an easier option.. the cost of a new remote is $60... so I'm about to go searching for the shoddy warped metal button plate again.
I have seen mobile phones for $50 with 12 or more quality buttons inclusive... .. I might go rip one of those up.
Any way ... what I want to say is... the lock over all... is good quality and apart from a strange thing that happened only one time... where by the remote control did not work and the unit just beeped at me causing me to use the manual old fashioned key to unjam the worryingly stuck locking mechanism... the unit has worked flawlessly,.
So ...$340 bucks when I bought it ...makes it very expensive...
$60 bucks for getting a keychain wet ... or breaking one trying to modify it :( ... makes new remotes almost unfordable.
Needing to keep an old fashioned key plus a new remote control on your keyring is a little annoying.
I wouldn't buy one again... because I would probably prefer adapting a car security system to my door... but I do like still. lol. magically opening the door. shoddily designed keychain remote.... with too high a replacement cost.
This great product is let down by the quality of it's remote control – I purchased my Lockwood Nexion Keyless Entry Lockset five years ago. I liked the idea of having a remote to unlock my door when my hands are full with bags of groceries. I also liked how the lockset has a status indicator showing the status of the lock at a glance from the inside. I found that the earlier tear drop style Q-Key remotes supplied… Read more
with the door lock were poorly designed and were not durable for everyday use. I have replaced four of these remotes over the years at a cost of around $50 each. My first remote failed from new and was replaced under warranty. My second remote failed due to the unlock button mechanism separating from the circuit board. My other two remotes were accidentally dropped. The poorly designed snap lock broke open on impact causing the circuit board to fall out of the unit and get damaged.
I am disappointed that a quality lock that cost as much as the Lockwood Nexion could be released to the Astralian market with such a poorly designed remote.
Lockwood has now changed the design of their Q-Key remotes to a square shaped unit. Hopefully this new design is more durable then the previous one. Great idea, visually attractive, quality locking mechanism The remote Q-Key is not durable for everyday use.
